I realised how some of the Wisps in Team Sonic Racing actually mirror the Items in the Mario Kart series, here are the similarities: *White Wisps x Mushroom* - Both give a huge speed boost to the racer who uses it *Yellow Drill x Bullet Bill* - Both give the racer the ability to ram trough other racers and give them a speed boost *Orange Rocket x Green Shell/Bob-Omb/Triple Bob-Omb* - Both fly straight forward and explode when hitting other racers (Orange Rocket can rebound off walls like a Green Shell but explode like a Bob-Omb, it can also be upgraded for more Rockets similar to the Triple Bob-Omb) *Blue Cube x Banana Peel/Triple Banana/Fake Item Box* - Both can be dropped behind the Racer on the track where it acts like an obstacle that trips other racers (I assume the Blue Cube can’t be thrown forward, I also read someone’s comment that it’s similar to the Fake Item Box) (Blue Cube can be upgraded for a chance on multiple cubes, similar to the Triple Banana) *Cyan Laser x ???* (This is one of the only Wisps where I couldn’t find a real similarity from an item from the Mario Kart games, I guess the way it locks onto a other racer IS similar to the Red Shell but then it shoots a laser after a time) *Violet Void x ???* (Another Wisp I couldn’t find a real similarity in, a gravitational pull/force) *Crimson Eagle x Red Shell/Triple Red Shell* - Both home in on a racer ahead (can be upgraded for more Crimson Eagles, similar to the Triple Red Shell) *Magenta Rhythm x Blooper* - Obscures the screen of the player/racer *Grey Quake x ???* - (I don’t know for sure at the moment which I can compare it to) *Red Burst x ???* - (At this point I don’t see any similarities anymore) *Black Bomb x Bob-Omb* - Both bombs that explode after a time, simple as that *Pink Spikes x Hearts* - Both circle around the racer’s kart, protecting it for a time (In case of the Pink Spikes it also damages other racers) *Ivory Lightning x Lightning Cloud* - Both strike a racer with lightning (In case for the Ivory Lightning it functions like the Blue Shell, targeting the leading racer, when upgraded works more like the regular Lightning, targeting more racers) *Jade Ghost x Boo* - Both make the racer temporarily intangible/invisible to damage, also steals an other racers item (in case of the Jade Ghost other Wisps) *Invincibility Shield x Super Star* - Makes the racer temporarily invulnerable (In case of the Super Star it can also damage other racers and gives a speed boost)
The Ivory Lightning is based on the lightning bolt (since they both shock players), the Quake is based on the blue shell (since it goes to the front of the course), and the Drill is based on the Bullet Bill (since it charges the player in last all the way to first)
