- The dance tutorial I WISH I HAD!!! Mirrored for dancers, so you don't have to flip it - very important when we are dealing with hastas and mudras. This choreography blends abhinaya (story telling) from the classical Indian dances of Odissi (from the state of Odisha) and Mohiniyattam (from the state of Kerala).
"कृष्णाय वासुदेवाय देवकी नन्दनाय च ।
नन्दगोप कुमाराय गोविन्दाय नमो नमः ॥
Krssnnaaya Vaasudevaaya Devakii Nandanaaya Ca |
Nanda-Gopa Kumaaraaya Govindaaya Namo Namah ||
Meaning:
Salutations to Sri Krishna Who is the Son and the Joy of Father Vasudeva and Mother Devaki,
Salutations to Him Who is the Boy of Cowherd Nanda and Who is Himself the Lord Govinda; Salutations, Salutations to Him again and again."
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णु र्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः
गुरु साक्षात परब्रह्मा तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः
GururBrahma GururVishnu GururDevo Maheshwaraha
Guru Saakshaat ParaBrahma Tasmai Sri Gurave Namaha
Guru is the Creator (Brahma), Guru is the Preserver(Vishnu), GuruDeva is Destroyer(Maheshwara)
Guru is the absolute (singular) Lord himself, Salutations to that Sri Guru
I hold deep gratitude for the handful of dance gurus who have blessed my life, but in particular Nandita Behera (Odissi) and Radha Carmen (Mohiniyattam) whose incredible talent, vulnerable abhinaya and pure dance taught during our private lessons for many years profoundly impacts my spiritual practice to this day. This video is my humble gift to future dancers, passing on the divine art of classical Indian story-telling dance, as best I can, mistakes and all. Perfection is not the goal, immersion is the goal 🙏
Hariiiiiiiiii--bollllllll....this is soooooo Cool! 😊I had never seen those mudras and poses demonstrated so clearly before. You have so much living culture and knowledge embodied in your presentations. I first heard George Harrison and the devotees sing that invocation "Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu~ Guru Devo Maheshwaraha" on My Sweet Lord in 1971, (when I was 6 years old, crammed into the tiny back window compartment of my sister's Volkswagen Bug, cruising around Los Angeles!) Little did I know the Holy Names of Krishna were in that song, planting subliminal seeds of bhakti into my mind, that would later begin to sprout in Byron Bay in 1994-95 when I saw a Ratha Yatra Cart being pulled down the main beach. I still didn't make any sense of it until I met devotees in California in 1998, and everything started to blossom. Just see, how Achintya it all is! Krishna is lulling everyone back Home by His Causeless Mercy. Well-done you two, keep on keepin' on!! 🙏☮🌎🌈🎼🎵🕉🧘♀💁♀🙋♀💃🤸♀Global Party People Ki Jaya!!
Wow thank you! That is so kind! I had no idea you went to Ratha Yatra in Byron Bay Australia!!! That is so crazy! I wish they still did the Ratha Yatra up there, it was magical and such a perfect place to do it! How funny how often our paths have crossed in this one lifetime!
Really good tutorial Sri 📿🙏
Thank you so much! There is nothing more beautiful than storytelling dance. So glad you like it

Welcome
I don't know how I came here but ended up watching whole video. I am Indian I know the vocabulary I know the dance but never knew it like I saw here. now I think I should explore more. These Indian dances always was boring to me and to many and the reason was no body explained this to us that it was story in dance.
we're so glad you did end up here! Totally agree! The dances can be so boring when they go on for 20mins and no one explains anything, lol! Thank you for your very kind words and we are very happy you enjoyed the video. We did another one for Krishna Maha Yogin. Here is the tutorial ua-cam.com/video/G_0EwawFUgc/v-deo.html and here is the performance video at a festival ua-cam.com/video/CVbMwRJ1Vvg/v-deo.html Hope you like it!
I have boys and girls . will you teach them? We are live in west virginia.
Please send your email address
How wonderful that you want to teach them! It can profoundly imbibe their sadhana. We do not live close enough to WV to do it in person (except perhaps if we are on tour) but you can have them watch the video for free as many times as they like. I break it down quite thoroughly and they can pause and rewatch as needed. If you would prefer they have private online classes, please feel free to email us at music@globalpartypeople.com 🙏
Your in West Virginia? Are you close to New Vrindaban temple?
