  • The biggest mistake is something we are doing right now with our photography but we often don't realize it. In this episode I discuss what it is, why it is, and what we can do about it. Below are links mentioned in the video:

One of the things that frustrates me is when the teacher is more worried about making the video short, than carefully explaining the lesson. IMO if the content is good, I'm in no hurry. There have only been a couple of your videos that I did not watch all the way through. Many I have watched multiple times.

Nathan the PhotoScholar does it again - creating GREAT content for the good of the community. Keep promoting your wonderful resources in the middle of your videos! These videos regularly teach other full-time photogs like me LOTS of extremely practical tips that aren't just click-bate or product promotion.

Stay the Course! I have stuck to your content exclusively and learn daily from you even going back and rewatching the Online Courses that I have finished and old UA-cam videos, like i'm doing today. Knowledge is Power! Disclaimer: I do search and watch others as this helps to learn from others mistakes.....

Thank you for the content you offer in this as well as so many other videos you have created. I appreciate your sharing and teaching. I trust your content to be genuine, tested and unbiased. I work as an architectural photographer with some real estate included. I am glad I found out about your channel along the way. I still refer back to some of your books as questions arise. Thank you!

I watch some of the others, probably some you talk about, but I find many times they leave out a point or two. You are right because I also have a channel that has a VERY low count. It’s hard to make UA-cam happy without going so shallow.
I get some stuff from them, but you aren’t like that. I follow your tube and have your books. Some day, I hope to get courses or coaching. I love your content and have learned a TON.
I TOO am an engineer (right now) and appreciate your straight forward approach.

Hi Nathan, people have to learn that if they want to become a professional at what they do, they have to choose who they want to listen to. That person should be a professional at what they teach, and I firmly believe that you do. I do not watch other people that teach different things or fall for the watch these Clickbait photography videos. I hope that your viewers realize this, follow you, use your teaching aids, books, and courses and know that by doing this, they too will become professional real estate photographers. I firmly believe it and I’m doing exactly that. Please keep up the good work. You are very appreciated.

Thank you for the break down and all the years of info you've produced and shared. While your videos may not be as glamourous as others, your value is HUGE. Keep up the good work!

I saw your video first on my PC, wanted to comment via app and therefore had to watch two ads 😅
In order not to follow the UA-cam algorithm, I rely on a few suscriptions and rarely watch channels I don't know. Thank you for your calm, professional way of delivering quality content!

Very well said. The amount of videographers especially who clearly have a 'youtube' style which isn't really that applicable to real commercial jobs. No one needs that much crazy movement or transitions. Not to mention the over the top color grading.

Hi Nathan you and Rich thought me everything I know about REP, unforntunately for vidéo I have to rely on other channels. There is a saying here in EU that those who fail in their trade have suddenly the idea to become expert advising others whom succeeded before them how to become successfull. Contrary to the show guys your quality channel most probably has a loyal audience, in comparison to the sensation content providers which are much more volatile channels. Personally I am waiting early 2024 to join your online training course to become a full time professional REP here in Paris. Keep with up your own values and refuse to become enslaved by a system doomed to fail in the long term, since the sensation makers will have to escalate evermore to stay sensational and will be sooner or later stopped by the rules of law .

Thanks for all the wonderful videos you’re making. I’m learning real estate photography and your videos have been the most instructional and effective way for me to learn.
As a beginner in the RE industry, what is the best way to show skill and attention to detail in your pricing, while still keeping in mind that you’re a beginner in the real estate field? Maybe the better question is how do you know how to price your work to break into the RE photography field?

"Why do a lot of these videos get the most views?" 3:02 I would argue it is oftentimes the thumbnail and the 'host' of the video.
Otherwise, how can we explain how a 20-something flat-stomach female in a tight halter top and boy shorts gets 400K+ subscribers and 160K views in less than a week on a 2-minute video about learning to ride an electric unicycle?
So, yes, your analysis is spot on.

I can’t stand watching intros and seeing how rich someone is just to see some small trick in Lightroom, I have always said thr best info comes from smaller channels most of the time

The worst mistake Photographers make is definitely under charging!
Which goes hand in hand with the problem of "UA-cam/You Tubers." Because now, the industry is awash with inexperienced photographers, armed with all the latest gear suggested by "You Tubers", and the limited teachings they gather from them.
Compounded with their inexperience and insecurity, they then under charge and undercut each other, leading to devalued photography as a whole. This only perpetuates an unrealistic expectation among clients now, thinking they can get photography done for next to nothing.
Before everyone goes out to take jobs, they need to deep dive into the business of photography, so it can remain sustainable.

I see what you're saying, and there are the under-prepared who boast higher skills to garner work. Proving your worth though is what gets you referrals and reputation, which is longer lasting. This is what's known as the Dunning-Kruger effect and I talk about that a bit at ua-cam.com/video/OCo6rrfhH0k/v-deo.htmlsi=4NDkLFTk6gyNOraR&t=93
