Thanks so much mate. Definitely one of my favourite videos houve done. I love the traditional set up and the simplicity of what you do. Quality without the unnecessary bells and whistles. Well done.
Hey man really love the videos where you show and not tell. This is maybe my favourite channel to come really late at night on those days where I just can't sleep and watch while eating some food. Watching you just make stuff and do stuff in the bush without any talking is just really soothing. I really hope you make more videos like these with no or little talking in them especially during the night. Love your stuff mate. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep soon.
ATB to you mate and I'm glad my videos are helping in some way. I do prefer not to talk in my vids and just let the bush do the talking. So I will keep the talking to a minimum. Cheers.

This was so unbelievably Australian! I’ve been watching channels like TA Outdoors and just thinking, this is awesome but I don’t think you could do it in Australia. Not because it’s impossible but just because of the different types of materials available locally. Oh you poor thing you. (NOt too many people like Spam nowadays). Spam was invented during WWII for the soldiers. It is however full of preservatives, but is an excellent source of protein. You should try frying slices of it and maybe using tomatoe sauce/ketchup on it.
So tempting to swap the house for the traditional lifestyle of that era. such a tug. Absolutely beautiful bird songs where you were. High country? Such beautiful bush sounds and smells we are starved for in most of suburbia. I am thinking that their swags would not have been so heavy or tailormade either, for the really poor swaggies, which most were, not even a traditional swag, but a blanket or two and newspaper in between to keep them warm rolled up in a piece of canvas. I think we tend to glamouriise the swaggy these days. It would have been real survival for them, not a weekend trip to the bush with a perfect campsite, but rather exposed to all the elements, wind, snow, rain heat, storms. fires. etc. no zip up tents and sleeping bags etc. Homelessness and a poverty existence to the hilt, on a permanent basis! Don't think though the original swaggies would have regularly slept on a hessian bed either if on the move, most likely just on the ground, but would have used their hessian bags though in which to carry their basic items such as a change of clothes, very limited cooking items such as a frypan(?) knife fork and spoon, plate, cup, water flask.and billy at the side, not even a camp oven, too heavy to carry unless they had a wheelbarrow like the richer prospectors. Swaggies never had cars, maybe a horse, but not the norm. Also carried their simple food items such as flour, tea leaves, sugar, salt and bully beef, maybe treacle which they traded for work on properties and in the towns as well. They would carried a very small no. of personal essentials items such as scissors, string, rope?, a shaver and brush, small mirror, comb, soap, flannel washer, matches? an old cloth, a rain poncho maybe, and a couple of tools such as an axe, knife, shovel. Weight was always kept to a bare minimum and maybe a small canvas tarp. Only the very basics they would have had in those hard times for most, unlike the ridiculous glamorous sophisticated, hi-tech over the top camping(?), and endless array of unnecessary items we see being pushed and peddled today.. We need to keep it simple and get back to the very basics, better for our wallet, head, health and space in our vehicles.and not to be reliant on electtical gadgetry where absolutely possible. They didnt need a fridge or esky or batteries of any sort, no headlamps, just the fire!. No music, just the sounds of the bush or a harmonica, which is far better and more therapeutic for all, unlike today camping sites with blasting atrocious music. Cringe stuff. Today it is such a huge business by which they are intentionally turning the majority of the camping public, including 4x4 fanatics into camping woosers, with all their must have gear. Many would struggle, or not do it at all if had to do it with only the real basics like the old swaggies.and the old ttimers did. I often wonder how many authentic swaggies still exist in Australia.today. Your image of the swaggie and his life has bern iimmortalisd in the Aussie psyche for generations but the real swaggies were more like hobos with no fancy hardwearing gear and the majority probably died on the road from chronic health ailments due to constant exposure to the elements. But its their simplicity of life that is gaining traction these days and glamourising it to an extent where the authentic gear.is so ecpensive. Still your videos are an ode and a tribute to our lost Aussie swaggy. God bless them all.
