    This book has been in my wish list too long. I'm gonna purchase it now. Thank you for what you do, Brian! More power to you and the value you give to people through Philosophers Notes and the Optimize channel. Much recommended.

    I agree that nothing trumps intrinsic motivation. First the inner, then the outer. Good stuff Brian!!
    Pink is a phenomenal writer.

    One of the best books, the difference between having to discipline yourself through work and naturally be drawn to it and wanting to do it

    Great content. Daniel Pink in amazing. Just finished an AoC podcast with him as a guest in which he talks about how we can use the same dynamics used for sales to have an impact on how we influence others.

    Hey Brian I also believe, as been my experience, that using money to motivate has an expiration date as well. But the drive should come from a place of passion, as I really cannot wait to do the task.

      +H Bruce Yep! Dan would say the ultimate motivation would come from Autonomy + Mastery + Purpose! :)

    Thank You, Thank You Brian, through your optimise living subscription I have started connecting the dots for example while listening to this PNTV I was thinking about 'Double Thinking' from the book Bounce by Mathew Syed, double thinking came when you talked about asking oneself daily about ones daily improvement while also thinking about the big Dream.
    Brian I would also like to share some of my observation regarding Intrinsic motivation, Companies like Zaapos, Google, Apple, Facebook, Uber & many other disruptive startups of 21st century totally believes in the Autonomy concept & they have embedded that to their core company Culture & thats bring a magic to them. Brian I really hope all the business get that coz it will be a better a world & as Larry page says all corporates need to transform from being selfish to selfless. (Thats Economy 2.0)
    Thank You brian you are making me wiser every single day. 😀

    Aim for something that isn't possible to reach in this life, and your mastery can surpass 100%. If you aim for 100%, 98% will be your max. If you aim for 500%, you'll probably fall short at about 120%, but might even get to 370%! If you hit what you thing is 450% or more, you were aiming way too close, and need a new, more distant goal.

    Why must we pursue mastery ? Why not be happy with mediocrity ? Can anyone answer it

    You are against allowance and chores being tied to each other so do you see allowance as like a living wage or is it earned in some way?
    love that one sentence exercise! Do you mind sharing your sentence?

    • @HeroicBrian
      @HeroicBrian  8 років тому +2

      +Derrick James We're not at the allowance phase yet but Dan's general point was that allowance is given as a way to help teach about dealing with money (more than a living wage per se).
      I shared my one sentence in a micro class for members (and almost did in that video)! :) It's dynamic but the one I wrote in my journaling this AM: "He was a great husband and father who inspired the world to optimize!" :)
