I’m a Rolex fan boy but I have to pick the Omega. Like your wedding example in Thailand, you wore a watch that was dressy enough for the reception, but also one you could enjoy at the beach without worrying as you would with the Milgauss. Being able to fill those two functions so extremely well is rare in a watch. You got Patek for uber-dressy events, and Seiko for the sporty ones. But that Aqua Terra can do both at a level seldom seen in a watch. For me, sporty is not just the looks, but my personal ability to not stress over a nice watch when I do sports. For example, my steel Daytona is a sports watch. But I sold it because its price made me keep it at home if I did anything fun/sporty. Yet, it looked too sporty for dressy events. I never felt that with an Omega and ended up creating more memories with it. (And the weight of the Milgauss is a big reason I decided to not keep my Air-King. Carrying such a weight on my wrist was unnecessary.)

The Omega is objectively the better watch overall, more versatile, and more comfortable. If you’re having to justify keeping the Milgauss based only on investment and resale, you’re pretty much admitted it’s inferior for use as an actual watch. Really like both though, I’d try to keep both of them if you can.

As an enthousiast, not an investor in watches, Aqua Terra all day, every day compadre; so elegant, manly and versatile. The Milgauss is too expensive, too funky for EDC, top heavy and doesn't even have decent lume. Sure, gorgeous "mediterranian" color, but I have my Squale 1521 azzuro to scratch that itch ;-)
I think the Omega Aqua Terra is the keeper. It’s just that watch you can count on in all situations. I personally own it and it isn’t going anywhere. But overall, you can’t go wrong with either. But as you stated, you gotta have that level of commitment or admiration for the Milgauss to be able to keep it (assuming you aren’t spilling money out your pockets...if so why not both!) Just my two cents!
Omega wins for me, I even found it easier to read, nicer indices and hands, case is way more detailed and seams better finished. Then going back to history and background of each manufacturers, Rolex, even if lately the show off trademark for bling luxury, is a tool watch manufacturer, ok for the explorer or a diver but not for a subdued dress watch. At the contrary, Omega with its past history, when it was The watch each business owners were wearing with their 50s and 60s seamaster's, deville's, Genève's and constellation's range of watches, has more credibility for such a mix of a dressy sporty watch. Now the quality for money, ease to service, power reserve, WR and versatility of use the Omega gets the Win.
A very apropos video from my point of view as I have been looking quite a lot at the Aqua Terra over the past week. I want to add some colour to my collection and want to start with a blue dial. The Aqua Terra, GO Seventies Pano Date and the GP Laureato are my three main contenders. I really like the Laureato but the 42mm makes me hesitate as generally I prefer 38-40. With the A T , vertical decking or horizontal decking...? GO on bracelet or strap....Arrghhhh!!... decisions, decisions :) As for your dilemma, that's easy - keep them both :)
Thanks for the in-depth review. With these kind of things there is never a clear answer, only opinion. It's funny, that even though on paper the Omega may win in more categories than the Rolex, I will always be drawn to the latter. It's cache, pure and simple.
Rolex really needs to discover that anti-reflective coatings have been invented for quite some time. Value and branding aside, 8800 Aquaterra is just prettier and more legible.
Both very nice , price a determining factor, Rolex has to the more exspensive by quite a bit .However aside from that the green crystal blue dial Milgaus a real killer. Thanx P.S. Tx.
For me the best version of the AT is the one with the frame around the date window. Just looks like something is missing in this one and the newest version with the horizontal stripes and date at 6 o'clock is just horrible.

Both are stunning watches. For me, the Omega AT wins for its versatility and design details (caseback, dial aesthetics, case shape).

Everybody loves the milgauss but much like the current air king I just don’t like the look. Prefer the Omegas details.

Ok. I have the new model AT. But I really like that Milgauss in blue. And I was so close to buy it, but then I switched for the submariner date.
