i knew brownie, sort of. my co-worker kept inviting me to his neighbor's & i went to mcghee's after work. women in hot kitchen cooking soul food, us in living room listening to brownie playing walking bass lines stuff on huge gibson between glurps of scotch on ice, then he played dinky martin, and back to gibson while we were awe struck. in oakland/berk flatlands border late 60's

Hey Eduardo, I know this text is two yrs late but I'm almost 65 and started a few months ago! I did have some piano and a couple other instruments but I never learned theory! I'm arthritic mostly in my left hand unfortunately. Anyway good luck and stick with it! These are some great learning tools presented on this channel!!

Wouldn’t this resolve better on 10th fret D than on the B on 7th. It just sounds better to my ear. Curious if any one noticed this.

I have seen Brownie and Sonny at least a couple of times. Many years ago I saw them at Macabe’s a guitar shop in Santa Monica CA.they have a performance space in back and it’s not very large. I also saw them at The Lighthouse a very famous jazz and blue’s club on the pier at Redondo Beach. When they took their brake my two friends and went upstairs to meet them. Sonny who is blind was talking to us and he pointed in the direction of my two friends and said you guys are twins and they were they were identical twins and Sonny heard that when they spoke. Thenn the bouncers showed up and started escorting us out the door. That started a ruckus a big one

I have a message that I’m sharing where I can, some may not want to hear this, but I ask that we stay polite and seek truth together. 😊
    .....
Love is an action. Feed the hungry, house the homeless, father the orphan, and protect the defenseless and vulnerable.
Read the Word for yourself, not only relying on others for guidance. Pray for guidance.Yahushua/Yeshua - His Hebrew name who is usually called (Jesus) taught to keep the whole Word. Including the Law/Torah. Matthew 5:17 “Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not [g]the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! 19 Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches [h]others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever [i]keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Read 1 John. John tells us that sin is lawlessness, and that we must keep the commandments. Trust in the atonement of Yahushua/Yeshua who is usually called Jesus, and keep God (YHWH)'s whole Word/commandments. Revelation 12:17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. Revelation 14:12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. Go to parableofthevineyard youtube channel for information about the bible and good bible studies. I'm in no way paid or sent by him for advertising. I just have learned a lot from his content. He's just a man who is trying to learn as well. :) Yeshua died so we may be resurrected to eternal life.....

I already have a whole ten part series dedicated to mostly fingerstyle solo blues guitar, in it you will find a ton of licks that are borrowed from Brownie and similar players.
As for this lesson, I usually use a pick, so adapting some of his licks and rhythms to a picking technique has been important to my development as a blues player. If you don’t find it useful, then you’re more than welcome to request a fingerstyle follow up, nicely.

@@swiftlessons Thanks for your response, it shows a lot of class, man. I was rude, and I apologize..... I learned several of his songs many years ago from a guy named Happy Traum...so I’m always on the lookout for his stuff. I came with expectations (always a mistake) of you playing fingerstyle, to compare how your rendition of “Brownies style” compared with mine. You’re very talented, and again, my apologies. ✌🏼
