Explained very well .i have macaw since 3 years .its very difficult to tolerate .sound disturbance too much for neighbours .its like small child .it eats less wastes more 😢😢. difficulty to go long trip .one person is compulsary to take care of it .
Ya. Macaws are good pets but very difficult to maintain. It's like we are stuck with a child for the rest of our life.
It get mature in one or one and half year, another story begins, there is a chance it feel you as his mate 😄

As a expert i want to give some suggestions who have plan's to have one,
don't go for hand feeding chicks,
Hand feeding is not a simple job, if you don't do hand feeding properly formula go's in to lungs and chock to death, hand feeding formula should be warm not cold or hot, if it is cold it won't digest and get bloting and if formula is hot it burns crop, dont use cheap formula, it's a big subject, seller want to sell the bird, don't fall in trap, do lot of home work before buying a big parrot,
There will be behavior issues, health issues, diet issues like what to feed and what not to feed, how much to feed, how many times to feed and lot.
