As a life long (60 + years) Chelsea supporter, I'm completely addicted to watching the women's team play now .. sometimes more so that watching the men's team. The flow, skills and commitment of the women players is fantastic and compelling to watch. I can easily see it reaching the heights of the men's game, in time, and I'm 100% behind getting it there. Well done and massive respect to the likes of Alex Scott and Emma Hayes unbelievable success against the odds and very much the best role models for all young people .. of all genders. I'm humbled by the achievements of those who have promoted and developed the women's game to where it is now, you have my complete respect and thanks .. for what that's worth.

    A very interesting documentary.
I myself have been a coach for both athletics and women's soccer teams since 40 years ago.
Following Liverpool FC, S.S. Lazio both men's and women's teams.
I am of course interested in how their practices and matching of the teams develop and work every day.
Right now I follow the European Championship in England and watch every game.
Very impressed with England and my favorite women's coach - Sarina Wiegman. Has Dutch total football as a basic idea.
The difference in how the clubs develop their women's football compared to, for example, Sweden, is that in, for example, England, Spain, Italy, Germany and Holland, the men's leagues have been professional since the beginning. The clubs have a professional handling of players who have this as a job. The clubs know how to manage the environment at the men's.
Therefore, even though they have a long way to go for the ladies, this is handled as if it were their job, their profession.
They get to know what it takes to train and become good and good.
It is hard work that counts. Hard work with everything.
There is a difference in Sweden, because professional football has never been accepted there. We are still at an amateur level.
Therefore, the attitude, even at the highest level, is that it is still the most priority to have fun and enjoy being together and train a few days a week without having demands on you to perform. why should you perform when you don't get paid for it? That's how the jargon is even in the highest series.
Same thing with the quality of the workouts. It's boring to practice the basics of football, passing and such.
Then you train on fun things instead.
In addition, the jargon of the women's national team is to take a stand for left-wing political events, rather than to embrace training to get better.

I’ve been watching womens football for over ten years but as a rugby fan it wasn’t a priority. As time has past, more exposure, the skill factor and passion has changed my view of the game. Womens football is now my first game, I started at NWSL in the US and now find the WSL the best league because of diversity, ethnicity, larger and wider range of international clubs and countries. Now a passionate Chelsea fan and England is my team. Go England!!!! Fm NZ xx

If she wants to see black players she is free to watch Cristal Palace, even better watch France national football team consisting of 9 black players an 2 whites, no much diversity there either. I am sure that some of those players are eligible to play for Africans national team. Saturday at 10.20pm on BBC one, there was a program discussing the future of women football, 3 people involved, one white two blacks, again she could not resist deviating in to a black and white argument

Back in the early 2000s I was on a trip to Chicago and went to find a game to play in at NWU. I joined in with some of the Uni men's team, but the highlight was watching a match between the NWU women and another Uni. I couldn't believe how good the women were: their skill, physique, positional sense: they all seemed to know their jobs so well and perform really well. Unlike the women team at our UK uni, these American women were tall, athletic, strong in the tackle with excellent balance and aggression. They could strike the ball so well. And the setup was incredible back then - better than our Uni men's team. Everyone had full kit on, there were coaches and medical staff, loads of substitutes and excellent equipment. And that was an amateur match. I'm so pleased to see women in England do so well and winning the Euros was just incredible, but all the matches they won were riveting. I'm looking forward to the next England women's march than the men's (who always underperform and disappoint).

My daughter plays at a high level imo there are a number of factors behind the lack of people of colour.. (diversity)… We of colour in the girls/womens game know. When you see the English mens teams from U15 to first team there is representation. When you see the French Womens National team it’s obvious girls want to play …. So what’s the difference in English Womens football… Look at Netball, Athletics why is it so different in football…

I like the bit about the diversity of the female game, because in a diverse country like England it is a bit embarrassing how white the England female team is compared to the men's teams and other teams sports in England. And is football popular with black girls too. It was refreshing that the English FA was honest and recognise the problem, rather than get defensive or be in denial. They just said we made a mistake in putting female development academies in white suburban areas and offered no support for the players outside these catchment areas so basically ignored the black girls in the urban cities. That is why England team players all come from only 3 or 4 cities. Now they have to change this because I feel black girls will take England's game to the next level, because I think France are better and they did not ignore the black girls in their country.

    • @ailsawalcott52

@Bare Knuckle bigots like you just want to defend the the whiteness of the team, but FA have admitted they put the elite development hubs across England in non-diverse white only areas, meaning only white girls got access to the elite coaching that would produce elite players and ignored girls from more diverse inner cities and done nothing to get girls from these more diverse inner cities into the elite coaching hubs. It is common sense that if you are only going to give white young girls elite coaching as kids, you are only going to get elite players who are only white. You comment feels like white people who said in the 1950 that NBA didn’t need to allow the Black players into the league for the first time, because the white players are automatically the best players. They let the black players into the NBA and now the league is 85% black players. It is just white peoples like you don’t want accept white people benefit from privilege. If the FA don’t give any black kids elite coaching of course you will find no black girls in the England team for women.

It's a different game entirely, England women would lose to Rochdale if they were given a 3 goal start however that doesn't mean it's not entertaining it is just so very different.
Woman should be allowed to play in men's football if they are good enough, there should be no bias towards gender and everyone is equal. It is so patronising when someone says she is brilliant then finishes the sentence of with for a woman.
I will say that lately there has been a very imbalance intake of women in media covering men's football it's almost like you have got no chance at getting the job if you are a man that has played at the top of their game and is a household name because the positions has been taken by women who make comments and judgements about players that they couldn't live with, I'm all for women being part of the punditry on TV but it has got silly now, last night England V France the was a female presenter interviewing two female ex players about a men's world cup quarter final and that is disgraceful and discriminating against men, If it was the other way around there would be an uproar and I would be one of those arguing against the discrimination of women.
Let women's football be women's football and let men's football be men's football a bit of crossover is fine but artificially forcing it down peoples throats will make it a laughing stock and have no respect.

There was a case in Canada where a teamed signed a women and she wasn't allowed to play because of rules.
When I say over represented I mean that If you look at the mainstream media today and compare it to 2 years ago then just about every single job in that time has gone to a woman, representation to sex's that play or have played football to a reasonable level ( adult senior )is massively outnumbered by men over women by a factor of probably 50 plus.
Women's football is great and really entertaining and the future is bright but when things like the Australian national ladies team who were ranked 4th in the world at the time were well beat by a boys under 15 side happen please don't tell me it's the same game or the women are just as good because that is obviously rubbish.
