I’m a kiwi and I didn’t know that half of these were actually slang words. I just thought that they were normal vocabulary that everyone uses.
Oi same
Same tbh
yea aye same
lmao i'm a kiwi and i've never used most of the slang in this video
A few of them are just normal things not slang but other countries don’t understand it so they say it’s slang
I had no idea this guy had a New Zealand accent. He does an American accent very well.
I just found out today. :o
I'm a New Zealander and I didn't know either
Found out today
Kinda like Tom Holland. Never knew he was British till I heard the interviews😂😂
American accents are easy to replicate
I’m a new zealander and didn’t even know that these were slang I just thought that they’re normal vocabulary worldwide... oops
Right, literally what I thought
Same....
Also some of them I thought everyone says
cabbage
Life Of Lucca okay...?
“Wanna hiding”
I got scared... when he is not even my parent
"Yeah-nah" "Nah-yeah"
Minnesota too
Pretty much most of the midwest - we use that in Wisconsin too
You guys say that in the US?! Wow always thought it was just NZ/Australia
Fellow Minnesotan, and that is very accurate. Can I get you a pop? Maybe some hotdish? Could play some duck duck grey duck too...
everyone says this. every english speaker. everywhere. in the world.
Tomace i highly doubt it. if it’s anything like he explained in the video i can assure you everyone does it
OMG HIS ACCENT HE COVERS IT ON RIVERDALE SO WELL😍😍
Yes he does! I wasn't expecting it when I first clicked this video!

I just can’t get over how amazing of an actor he is. The difference between his voice in Riverdale and in real life really amazes me.
I know right
I'd have to agree -- that caught me off!
I always thought he was American
p c y whenever he’s playing an Mercian role and uses his Americanized accent I absolutely love the way he says “dog” like hotdog, dog it’s just the best it makes me chur
Go to New Zealand and you'll hear more of his accent.
Every single kiwi in the world has said "Ayy" before

Yep. Kiwi, here. That's the word I use most.
@@bellawright7823
What's the meaning of kiwi please ?
@@lisajack5108 It's New Zealand's national bird, but we call ourselves Kiwi's. It means New Zealander to us, sort of. I guess you could call it slang
True, eh?
I didn’t realise how much of a crossover between Aussie and New Zealand slang
3:58 that little "aye?" gets me
@Tyrah Haami hard
@Tyrah Haami true and I love how we all new Zealanders use it
Very Kiwi. Love it.
M8 it’s aye
yeh always gets me when people use 'eh' to example "aye" i mean cmon...we all say "u know what it means aye?"
not "you know what it means 'eh'? "

as a New Zealander this made me so happy.
Same😂
Yooo same buddy!!!!
Rory Allan omg same!

Rory Allan same
Adding “as” at the end of words is another. Cool as, sweet as, munted as lol... classic nz speak.
Or like "that pie was mean as, keen for another one?"
Not many of these are that unique, these expressions pop up in Australia, the UK, bloody everywhere
"I'm beached as, bro!"
A lot of these are also British but slightly different for example we say “chocka but add “block” like oh this room is chocka block with people”
Chocka block is still used in NZ, though it might be a bit of a more older person saying these days
Yeah I hear my parents and grandparents use that expression a lot. For the younger generations it sounds a bit goofy.
You do realise Majority of people in NZ are of Polynesian British decent yeah?
Australia and New Zealand were colonized by Britain so duh
I say that, lots of countries have started to use it, my parents say it lots and they are kiwis
I've never heard him speak outside of his show and that accent threw me off but in a good way lol
It's also funny how his voice changes, or anyone's when they change up accents for that matter.

”Yeah-Nah" and "Wanna Hiding" are the most frequently used slangs above the others. 😂 If you walk into every household, nearly all families would use this. It'd be hard to miss it
I’m familiar with about 80% of these terms, who knew that Yorkshire English was so similar to New Zealand English 😂
Maybe cause we’re a British colony. Lot of our slang is rooted in the UK
@@ttoleafoa70 lmaoooo exactly hahaha
Yeah i'm half British but my dads a kiwi and i know almost all these terms
Same and i am Australian. Do you guys use the word chur in Yorkshire?
Well Emmerdale has been on our screens for years ;)
New Zealanders finding out these are slang and not real words.... unluggy brau
trueeee bro Im like how do you not understand what that means?! crack up
I was so confused when I saw some of those up there I thought that it was just common knowledge what those meant 😂
That’s New Yorkers with the word brolic 😭
Unluggy oose xD
Bro, it's the biggest mind f*ck finding out no one else uses these words on a daily. Bloody out of it I reckon
He never failed to mention Rugby. 😂👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿
That's ok. Some of us kiwis are not rugby fans.
as a new zealander i can relate to these on a spiritual level
In some Kiwi subsets "Wanna hiding?" is followed by the "jandal" and then going off to "pack a sad" especially if you got a "mean as" hiding.
I always forget his voice is actual really deep 😂
I always forget he actually has an accent, lol
@@ilissajames2973 Every person on the the planet has an accent.. What? Did you think he just had a normal accent? XDXD

Trinity Speedy and I’m over here in New York saying wow I’ve never heard most of these 😭😂
For Irish people we use pretty much most of these slang words
Some of these are in use in Canada or are similar. Wonder if theres a British connection given thats what links all three of us together.... Any Brits use these?

same i just figured this out too
Everyone has an accent
American is an accent
i’m aussie and i knew lots of these, and now i love kj haha
omg i loveee his accent !!
The first accurate Nz slang ive seen😂
When he said a teacher calls you in for a meeting I thought of Ms grundy
The way he describes 'keen' makes it sound like it means 'hot for' but it's much more general than that. Keen is also used in the same as 'interested in' or 'up for trying'. It can also be used as a single word to mean mean 'i like it'
Londoners in the UK: “That’s a different language”
Northerners in the UK: “Oh what do you mean New Zealand Slang?”
the "yeah-nah" is a california thing too
What about "yeah- nah-yeah" or "yeah-nah-yeah-nah"

Might mean like wasted or something. So if you were trying to say someone was drunk and wasted, munted can be used. On the other hand, an object can be broken or wasted, and you can say like “that kennel is munted.”
Just a thought.
