    I was an early adopter of the Allpowers 2000 and have to say that when it worked, it was really good. In fact I loved it and recommended it to friends. But I'd now think twice about using it in a mobile environment. It's simply not robust enough. Granted it was over a year old by then, but the very first time I took it away in the caravan it broke. Something inside shook loose and started rattling. It no longer charges from mains though everything else works. There were no falls, no bumps and it was secured on a foam cushion as are my Lithium batteries. I contacted Allpowers directly and asked where I could get it fixed (at my own cost) but they wouldn't or couldn't tell me. They said i'd have to buy a new one. Yes, I can still charge it from solar but that's hardly practical in a Scottish winter. Essentially they are not interested, so it's a £1200 brick. I absolutely intend to buy a replacement but sadly it will definitely NOT be an Allpowers.

      That’s pretty bad, but you can charge it from mains by using a mains transformer that’ll covert 230v to 24v and a 20A version should give you around a 600watt charge into the solar connection.
      Something like this amzn.to/3TYcgSE and then you just wire up the 230v and 24v end with the required plugs.

    I want to have a full electric power setup using a power station for cooking also, want for a weekend away mainly but extend a day are so, what station capacity would you recommend? I was looking at an Allpower product., so found this video very intresting.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 місяців тому +3

      That’s the big question, you have to start adding up all the devices you’d power from it and then get a power station with about 20% more capacity just to ensure it’ll be enough, the overhead of running the inverter is why you need the extra. If you can get some solar hooked up to the power station that’ll help too.

    How much is an extra battery ? Does that mean another power station ? I am just learning about these power stations. . . And . . . I see that the 200w solar panels plug into One port. What do I plug into to add another 200w or 400w panel ? Thanks for the video.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  5 місяців тому +1

      The additional battery info can be found on the website, link in the video description. The solar input limit needs to be adhered to, but you can use solar panels in parallel or series to increase the power.

    Hi John - great video! I am thinking of getting this power station to cover me during power outages - Im an online teacher so would have a laptop, several screens and a couple of lights hooked up so kids can see me😂 - I teach for 3-4 hours a day - would this power station get me through a day without mains power or do I need something bigger? Hoping to have solar panels too (can you charge via solar while using the power station at the same time?!) - plenty of sun where I will be based in Bulgaria so might as well get the free power resource!!

    Hi John, can the angle of the panels be changed i.e. 45degs 55degs etc...

      @GadgetJohn  6 місяців тому +1

      The legs are not fixed so you can choose how you want it setup.

    Hi John. Would this be powerful enough to start diesel heater. Believe they have power surge when they first switched on (heater)

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 місяців тому

      Ideally you’d buy one of the other power stations I’ve recently reviewed that have dedicated 12v high amp connections. This little power bank has a low amp 12v cig lighter connection that isn’t suited to powering a diesel heater.

    A newbie question for you John... I have a Jackery unit. Can you top up even though you have used only, say, 20% of the battery. Or do you have to use all the power before topping up. Thank you. Best wishes to you and Mandy. x

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 місяців тому +1

      If you had any other make you could charge at anytime, but the old battery technology used in jackery power banks means you’ll get more life out of it by allowing it to drop to 30% and then recharge fully to 100% before taking it off charge.

      @@GadgetJohn Thank you so much John. I am saving up to buy a bigger power unit ( mine is only the Jackery 500, which I thought would suit my needs) I will rewatch your 'battery unit' videos before I commit to a bigger unit.

    Be aware of the inferior quality of Allpowers: We bought a previos S700 model not even 1.5 years ago and it just died completely this month. Allpowers doesn't care at all, so we had to bring a 400+ USD device to recycling right away. No we bought an Ecoflow, hope it's better quality.
