Thank you Becky! A lot of videos from others about the items to pick up (which usually aren't available) and not so much about the bread and butter items. As I live in Canada some of the recommended items for those other videos I won't find here. Your items I can usually find.
Becky, you can tell that you’re a teacher by trade because you’re a natural at teaching me so much about Poshmark and I just wanted to say thanks so much 👏🏼
Great video Becky! Thanks for sharing the specific styles that work best for these brands too. That's super helpful information. Here are a few of my $25+ mall brand sales: > Lane Bryant plus size jeans > Levi's jeans (Both Men & Women) > White House Black Market blazers > Nike leggings > Zara culotte pants & blazers > Express high rise jeans > Columbia & The North Face convertible zip away pants shorts > Lauren Ralph Lauren plus size cocktail dress > Calvin Klein cocktail & career dresses > H&M coats & certain dresses (believe it or not) I could go on but most of the other sales I make from mall brands over $25 are because the style, print, or material is very desirable. If you are selling these bread & butter brands it is vital to stay on top of the trends so you know what to pick up and what to leave behind.
THIS WAS AMAZING. Thank you for the tips!!! I agree with Levi's but was surprised to hear about Express jeans and WHBM blazers. I have such a hard time selling both of those! It's so funny how some things sell so well for some and not for others. But thank you so much for sharing!!!
I have done good with the size that is the biggest in kids . Sometimes it is a size you have to buy online and they do not sell in their “mall store”. This was a while back before everyone was buying online . Buy it as a cute piece ( skirt) in a hard to find size. Like a girls 16 ?? I did good on a plaid skirt and even the denizen jeans - and the Levi’s sold at like Walmart or target. .
This video is so important. It's hard for new resellers, such as myself, to get helpful information on what brands to pick up. What styles of said brands. etc. A lot of it is trial and error. I made a lot of mistakes along the way. I've learned it's probably best if I invest in things like better lighting and spend more time on GOOD pictures before I spend *more* money on inventory. I also live in a not-so-great area for thrifting. The population until the last few years was mostly retirees. So thrift stores here just do not have those big name brands. As a newcomer, you finally see J. Crew after 953453 pieces of gloria vanderbilt or lularoe, and you buy it. Turns out, that J. Crew piece is from 2009 and nobody wants it. Valuable lessons to be learned, for sure!
Thank you so much for your kind words! So much of reselling is learning by doing, and it seems like you've been doing that and learning some great lessons yourself :) Thanks for watching and for the tips you shared as well!
You might find luck at estate sales, and maybe find a niche in classic clothes that apeal to older people or are coming back in style. You might find someones 70's wardrobe, vintage wool or linen.
I sell a lot of Torrid, Tripp from Hot Topic, 90's mall goth, Doc Martens boots, higher end hiking clothes for men or women but they take awhile, Lane Bryant, Pendleton, harder to find surf and skate brands. I try to stay under $3 an item. I cannot move Bebe, Ann Taylor, Tommy Bahamma, or Express, although express gets likes.
Awesome video! I live in an area where there isn't a lot of access to higher end brands... corn fields 😆 I do well with mall brands. Sometimes it's overwhelming when you watch other resellers who are always talking about the big scores and feel like you're doing something wrong. Honestly, I have a honey hole where they sell $6 bags and in an hour I can fill up bags for potentially hundreds of dollars in profit rather than searching endlessly for the unicorn items. I sell a lot of loft and banana republic. Love your message!
girl, I know all about them corn fields :) And yes; I understand how it feels to watch other hauls and think to myself "I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO THESE BRANDS!" Every once in awhile, I get lucky, but yes - I'd rather fill bags rather than keep searching for the unicorn finds too!
Thanks so much for the information! My salvation army has an entire section with those brands NWT so I'll check that out next Wednesday when theyre half off! For me, Torrid always sells really well unless it's outdated. I live in a college town as well. I do often see anthropologie and free people, but not super often.
Thank you for your video. Taking notes. I am still fairly new, and I have only been selling since March. Torrid sells well for me. I don't get 25 dollars for each piece but it all sells. I am 57 and I find that red items by J. Jill and Chaps also sold quickly. I am a grandmother who likes to look fresh and colorful, so I look for items I think are fresh and colorful. So far, so good. I learn so much from your videos.
INTERESTING observation about the color red for those brands! I"ll have to try that out :) And I hope that as. a grandmother, I can stay fresh and colorful as well :) Thank you so much for watching!!
Great video. A side note on nails. I just started wearing Colorstreet nails. I don't sell them, but a family member does. Search on it and find someone in your area who sells them. I love them so easy to apply and remove.
So glad I came across this! Ive been feeling bummed with slow sales. So I UA-cam reselling tip and filtered by upload date. So many great tips, thanks so much for sharing 💗
Thank you for the great video! White House Black Market newer tag sells pretty well and consistently for me. Lane Bryant sells pretty quickly. Zara is great too (more interesting and not basic pieces).
oooh yes - Ann Taylor is another good brand as well. I personally think I'll be sending it in to thredup instead of trying to sell it myself from now on though.
I used to be a yarn dyer so I always look for real materials like cotton, wool, cashmere, silk, etc. A lot of these brands used to have far more 100% wool and cashmere items but the prices of them have gone up so much it's just not cost effective anymore for these brands. You can find Old Navy items from late 90s that are 100% wool and 100% silk! (and I got at a thrift store years ago a 100% cashmere MERONA sweater!!) J. Crew wool fair isle yoke sweaters always sell pretty quickly for me. The Pure Jill line can do decently too, *especially* larger sizes. The one brand I wish had more resale value and that I don't understand why so thoroughly not is Coldwater Creek. Oh, and Chico's Travellers specifically pieces can do well as well.
Great video! Very helpful! I've had the chance to pick up AE jeans before at a low cost and have hesitated. Maybe I'll pick it up next time. J. Crew always does well for me. Cotton and silk. Something that surprised me is how well I sell Abercrombie jeans/jeans shorts. Distressed or high rise. Sold over $25! I agree about Talbot's, I haven't found their dresses but their shirts even NWT have 0 action in my closet. Thanks for the video Becky!
Oooh I haven't picked up Abercrombie jeans in awhile. I may have to look into doing that again! But yeah - the same principles you apply to Abercrombie jeans should apply to poshmark too.
Becky, Thanks for great informative videos on everyday mall brands...as a part-time seller, I don’t have a big budget to pay up for some of the higher end brands...still experimenting and finding my niche; your videos are informative and you are real!! Thanks again!
100% agree with everything said in the video! Adding- definitely pick up larger sizes of Talbots dresses and AE jeans. For me plus size items sell really well and really quickly. My favorite mall brand to sell is Torrid, mainly the jeans and dresses. I also sold some Torrid swim super quickly.
Yes - larger sizes of most brands in general do really well. And TORRID - how could I forget?? Although, tbh, I have a hard time moving torrid quickly...
Great video, Becky! I love a good mall brand sale. Like you, I can sell American Eagle pretty easily. Jeans are the main things I sell but I had a lot of luck with the hi-rise festival shorts this summer too. They also sold for $25 or more. I experimented with swimsuits and Aerie separates (NWT) also sold for $25 or more as well as some brand new Hollister swim pieces. Personally I love Talbots! I feel like a lot of their clothes have vintage vibes so I like their skirts and dresses. I just got one for myself at goodwill brand new $140 skirt for $12! Anyway, I think it’s smart not to be afraid of mall brands 👍🏻
Most of the items I find will probably only be in that price point, as well. I am JUST starting and will be listing some of my first pieces this weekend. I am hoping that I will be able to get into the swing of things quickly.
Love your down-to-early-vibe videos Becky! Any suggestions for getting a smokey smelly out of a pair of converse shoes? I've tried a lot of things and NADA! And the shoes are pretty much brand new....eeeeesh.

I know some resellers shy away from some mall brands, but I’m a 100% old navy rock star jeans girl and I buy them on eBay. I just know they will fit right.
Thanks for the informative video! J crew & BR shoes do well for me especially if they are in good condition, a current style and also go for more if they are leather.

Love your advice. My bins have horrible items so I’m stuck paying $5 on B&B pieces that don’t sell. Do you offer a closet review (with a fee) based on only the price? Would love to pay someone with experience to look at my closet for 5 min & say yes, your prices are too high for those items. Had a nwt J.Crew mom jeans and couldn’t sell them for $20. Kept getting $9 offers for months. I should have accepted probably but kept holding out. I was so excited to find them but later resented them so I gave them away, lol.
