Armys are actually very strict about following the members around..they would call out anyone who invades the members' privacy and fans will act as if the didn't know the members by chance they met them on their personal time, ie. flights attendants, restaurant goers, etc. just to give the members their privacy.. To me he is doing a song about how when he had essentially nothing he wanted to be the "king" but now that he is in that position he had realized that's not WHO he wants to be as a person. He doesn't want to be a dictator or demanding of his fans or flaunting his riches. He wants to stay humble like he was when he had no name in fame. That's my interpretation of it, which is why at the end he kills the emperor, he is getting rid of the "oh look at me, im famous, love me" personality.
him being drunk during the shooting is not exactly true but more of an exaggeration. yoongi just said that during some of his scenes for the mad king he went in the back and had a little bit of liquid courage (whiskey if I'm not mistaken) to help his nerves and get in his role better

ok so Yoongi said on his vlive that 'daechwita' is more focused on his production skills (as i remember, correct me if i'm wrong), I would also add that this work is focused on the story and visual image of the mv. You can watch explanation video by DKDKTV, they explain many historical and those moments that a non-korean speaker wouldn't understand. Explanation video by DKDKTV and Yoongi's words are different but I think 2 interpretations work very well. Yoongi himself said the blond Agust D is Yoongi filled with anger from the past (his parents were very opposed to his desire to make music, as they wanted a stable job for him. he also had social anxiety and depression. during his trainee days, he had no money, he was very poor. when he worked as a food delivery boy he had an accident, as a result the cartilage of his shoulder joint was torn. he didn't tell anyone about this he thought he might be kicked out of the group. it was healed the wrong way. it's just facts and that was what shaped his personality i think. those were hard times and I didn't even mention everything) and bottom-class Yoongi is the more mature him from the present (in the mv bottom-class Yoongi killed the king who is Yoongi from the past). One is by DKDKTV, the other by Bookish Theories. The song and video contain a huge amount of personal, cultural and historic references and symbolic layers. Essentially, this is Yoongi as AgustD pitting his current self (as at 2020) against the much angrier AgustD of 2016 when he released his first mixtape. He is also settling some scores. He has said that he may not have actually killed the mad king in himself. He deals with some of the same internal fears and conflicts in the song Interlude: Shadow from Map of the Soul:7, but this time within the framework of Jungian psychology which BTS have been exploring for some time. ‘Shadow’ is also a phenomenal piece of art.

I'm sure much of this has already been said in comments before mine, and you may already know this if you've gotten to know more about Yoongi's music in general since this video, but SUGA is his alias as a member of BTS. Agust D is his alias as a solo artist. So, if you're talking about him and/or his songs as a member of BTS, you should call him SUGA. But when you're talking about him and/or his songs from his mixtapes Agust D, D-2 and his album D-Day, you should call him Agust D. The difference is the lyrics and words he uses, and the persona he adopts. His Agust D alias is much more raw by way of his language and delivery, as well as his much more personal lyrics. With the release of D-Day, it seems he has come to reconcile all three of his personas. And with his current solo tour being called the SUGA | Agust D Tour, he seems (and this is just my opinion) to be doing one last hurrah with and saying goodbye to both alter egos. He's truly Yoongi now. And Yoongi will be whoever he damn well pleases to be going forward.

That's my interpretation of it, which is why at the end he kills the emperor, he is getting rid of the "oh look at me, im famous, love me" personality.
him being drunk during the shooting is not exactly true but more of an exaggeration. yoongi just said that during some of his scenes for the mad king he went in the back and had a little bit of liquid courage (whiskey if I'm not mistaken) to help his nerves and get in his role better

ok so Yoongi said on his vlive that 'daechwita' is more focused on his production skills (as i remember, correct me if i'm wrong), I would also add that this work is focused on the story and visual image of the mv. You can watch explanation video by DKDKTV, they explain many historical and those moments that a non-korean speaker wouldn't understand. Explanation video by DKDKTV and Yoongi's words are different but I think 2 interpretations work very well. Yoongi himself said the blond Agust D is Yoongi filled with anger from the past (his parents were very opposed to his desire to make music, as they wanted a stable job for him. he also had social anxiety and depression. during his trainee days, he had no money, he was very poor. when he worked as a food delivery boy he had an accident, as a result the cartilage of his shoulder joint was torn. he didn't tell anyone about this he thought he might be kicked out of the group. it was healed the wrong way. it's just facts and that was what shaped his personality i think. those were hard times and I didn't even mention everything) and bottom-class Yoongi is the more mature him from the present (in the mv bottom-class Yoongi killed the king who is Yoongi from the past). By the way he said he hasn't decided yet if the old Yoongi is killed as the story will continue on his next album D-3. It's so funny to me that he keeps intrigue. D-3 will be released around April. Jimin's solo album of 6 songs will be released on 23 of March. Just wanna mention it here haha.

AgustD allows him to be much rawer and more direct than he can be as Suga of BTS. Songs like the gut-wrenching ‘The Last’ could never be released as Suga.
As others have said, you should check out the explain videos for Daechwita. There are two which give slightly different but complementary interpretations. One is by DKDKTV, the other by Bookish Theories. The song and video contain a huge amount of personal, cultural and historic references and symbolic layers.
Essentially, this is Yoongi as AgustD pitting his current self (as at 2020) against the much angrier AgustD of 2016 when he released his first mixtape. He is also settling some scores.
He has said that he may not have actually killed the mad king in himself.
He deals with some of the same internal fears and conflicts in the song Interlude: Shadow from Map of the Soul:7, but this time within the framework of Jungian psychology which BTS have been exploring for some time. ‘Shadow’ is also a phenomenal piece of art.

I'm sure much of this has already been said in comments before mine, and you may already know this if you've gotten to know more about Yoongi's music in general since this video, but SUGA is his alias as a member of BTS. Agust D is his alias as a solo artist.
So, if you're talking about him and/or his songs as a member of BTS, you should call him SUGA. But when you're talking about him and/or his songs from his mixtapes Agust D, D-2 and his album D-Day, you should call him Agust D.
The difference is the lyrics and words he uses, and the persona he adopts. His Agust D alias is much more raw by way of his language and delivery, as well as his much more personal lyrics.
With the release of D-Day, it seems he has come to reconcile all three of his personas. And with his current solo tour being called the SUGA | Agust D Tour, he seems (and this is just my opinion) to be doing one last hurrah with and saying goodbye to both alter egos. He's truly Yoongi now. And Yoongi will be whoever he damn well pleases to be going forward.
