Another outstanding video, still learning so much. I've got some 3 month old Pachanoi's seedlings. They look plenty happy and green, but only have spines around their crowns. Is that normal at that age?
@@sanpedromastery6262 Thank you! Sorry for the confusion, I meant around the top of the plant. I'm noticing spines on the top 1/3-1/4 of each seedling, but no spines near the middle. Again, they seem green and happy otherwise. Would more sun be helpful? Really enjoying my San Pedro growing journey!
I just visited a very large and mature San Pedro that had about 7 open flowers. None of them have any pollen. Has anyone figured out why some Pedro flowers don't have pollen? Has anyone been able to pollinate another flower using only the anthers - as suggested in this video? I just tried it...
Some strains are not very keen on flowering. However, if you were to stress it (not that you should do it!!), it would probably flower as it would feel its survival is at risk.
give it more sun. and fertilize. some say if its root bound it will flower. i had my 10 year old 6 footer produce 3 flowers last year. mine get 6 to 8 hours direct sun depending on time of year. then i put it away for winter dec-march with 38F max low.
Drierite is the best way to dry pollen as it goes down to 1% humidity. And a liquid nitrogen dewar would be good for freezing it. Liquid nitrogen isn't too expensive.
My cacti are years away from flowering, but this video is very helpful for when the time comes.
Hope your doing well, Jerry!

Not sure what you mean by crown. At that age, they don't have spines at the very bottom of the plant (maybe the lower third or lower quarter).

@@christopherwarner6896 I don't think it is sun related, probably just the way this strain grows as a seedling. I wouldn't worry about it :)
Can you do a video on collecting pollen from peyote?
Not needed. If you are not looking for hybrids, lophphoras are usually self fertile. Just shake up the flower and the trick is done.
this is a lot of work,.... ,i know i want to buy seeds from yu..

Cover the flowers with a bag before it blooms to prevent the bees from collecting the pollens before you do.
hey, i am very interested in hybridizing, where can i find pollen?
Isn’t that the point of the video?🫠
How can I buy your seeds?
Hey San Pedro mastery when will me San Pedro produce a flower?
I have had San Pedro cacti for over thirty years and I've never had a flower.

It you don't have cold winters, they will not flower
