- If your rear brakes need replacing on your Jaguar XE,XF the EPB (electric parking brake) will need to be placed into service mode to retract the brake calipers.
This is done on most vehicles using a diagnostic tool, but the Jaguar has a accessible on board service mode and can be placed into service mode using this short but simple procedure.
This procedure needs to be completed before the brake pads are removed.
To exit simply pump up foot brake and repeat procedure.
Very helpful! Instructions were perfect. Thank you!
Your welcome. Happy to help.
This worked for me on Jaguar XF 2017:
Chock Wheels before Starting this procedure !!!
1) Start Engine
2) Put in Neutral (N)
3) Hold EPB Down
4) Turn Off Engine
5) Turn ignition on (Don't Start)
6) Hold EPB switch in "off" position for two seconds, then, keeping it pressed, floor the accelerator for two seconds.
7) Holding both in the same position, toggle ignition off then on rapidly - EPB goes to "service" or "maintenance" mode.
8) Turn ignition off and replace pads.
9) To Reset Start Engine and Put in Park (P)
10) To reset EPB - Turn ignition on first
11) Hold EPB switch in "On" position for two seconds, then, keeping it pressed, floor the accelerator for two seconds.
12) Holding both in the same position, toggle ignition off then on rapidly - EPB will reset.
Don't forget to remove Chocks !!!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and all the information.
Worked for me. Thankyou. Minor change I had to start the engibe for EPB service mode confirmation. Also I have to start the engine to put the gear selector into neutral. Once it's in neutral then switch off and follow this procedure.
Nice. Glad it worked out!
Hey, what year and model is your Jag?
How to exit service mode?
Thanks
How do I get out of service mode? activating the handbrake switch does not help
Instead of pushing e break button down, pull it up to activate it. But follow same procedure as video
Although it looks simple to do so, but I Didn't try until I read your comment lol, thanks a ton man, I was about going to the carage!
How to exit the service mode?
Why is putting in neutral not enough ??
Ive just done that on my 2011, 220 D and it seemed ok !
Will the same work on X260?
Possibly. Give it a try, if it works- bonus!
Do you think this would work on my 2015 XKR? The manual and everybody says you need diagnostic equipment to put it in service mode? Either way, thanks for the vid!
Possibly. Most Jaguars follow the same procedure. It worth a try. Good luck and thanks for your comment.
