I only have Steam installed and stopped buying any game that forces me to download a launcher. I'll never install EAPlay, UbisoftConnect, RockstarSocialClub, ActivisionBlizzardBattleNet ever again. As simple as that. There are plenty of great games that doesn't requires these stupid launchers. If everyone starts doing this then companies will really have no choice honestly. Bethesda has already stopped the server of their launcher. But most other people have no patience and desire to make that change I'm sure.
Me too i was going to buy some old ea games but then i read the rewiews and one said they need online connection to play an 10 yr old ass game. Why? Why the fcuk do i need to use ur launcher and internet connection to play ur fkin *single player games*
me too, i have some problem with that launchers, on RDR2 the "rockstar launcher" failed with "no activation" error some times when my internet is ok, and i play only history mode. if a game forces me to use a launcher or some online DRM like DeNuvo i use an emulator for play that game or download a "alternative DRM FREE" version.
i love your video dude in fact i hate game launcher on pc that is the one ting i don't like about pc gaming what consoles don't have like the ps5 and xbox series x if i need to be honest about pc gaming.
Man I hate launchers with a passion! I had a pc back in 2005-2009 until falling out of it due to life becoming more busy. I decided to get back into it last year and built a basic pc with a ryzen 5 3600 with a RX580 and 32 gigs of RAM. I was very pleased with the power and started buying games. Steam was kinda new last time I owned a PC but instantly downloaded steam and quite enjoyed it but then I bought gta 5 through steam, after downloading over 100 gigs because you can’t just download single player then I go to load it up and o you need a rockstar account..why??? I have a receipt from steam showing I paid for the game Soo why do I need another account with rockstar?? Then they try to force me to download battle eye?!?! Thankfully I don’t play gta online on pc only on Xbox and you can still play single player without it but why am I paying for a game that then requires me to install some software that needs deep kernel access to the system that I not only built but paid myself for all the components! What happened to just downloading a pc game and having a .exe file on the desktop to open the game…I don’t have a browser launcher that loads up the install of brave browser when I go online, I just click brave.exe and it loads…what a concept!!!
the problem is that most of these launchers do nothing unique and just try to compete with steam but they are just worse than steam. I think most have resorted to having a small niche like xbox with gamepass or collecting user data like ubisoft and ea.
I have EA. I have Ubisoft. I have Epic. I have GOG. I have Steam. All of these installers/launchers all wanting to run on startup. If you launch an EA game from GOG and you don't have the EA app open, Gog opens the app. That's a fail really. I let Steam start with windows. The others just become a resource hog. If I want to play one of the games on another launcher I sometimes have to update the game because I don't just let 5-6 launchers sit in my system tray using resources. I have the extra RAM and CPU power to let them run but why should I? Game companies are out of control. They can just take a game back from you...Ubisoft and The Crew. When Ubi took The Crew, I fired up a torrent and took a different Ubisoft game. Fair is fair.
Don’t you love it when game companies do such a bad job creating quality game launchers that they create an entire business model based around fixing their “work”.
gog is peak

Add Non-Steam game ftw 💪
My honest reaction to this information 🥵
LaunchBox is great and you should get the lifetime license for cheap on Black Friday. Not only will it handle multiple platforms, but also emulators.
