It's really weird, whenever you hear these shanties, you just go back to an era that just didn't exist for you. You know it's like having a nostalgia of an adventure that you were never a part of. Our generation is so bound by the shackles of technology that we can't live an adventurous life even if we want to, it's kinda sad.
It ain't technology binding us, friend. It's the shackles of servitude, of work without reward, of the aristocrat's cruel yoke. A pirate's life for me, friend, and, i hope, for thee.

My dad used to play assassins creed a lot when he was still alive, and I would always watch him play the games. Whenever he got stuck on a puzzle, a second set of eyes and a new perspective on it from me was always what he needed. One of our favorite things to do was just sail around in Black Flag and listen to the sea shanties for a long time. This one was our favorite. I remember trying to play the game myself and how the both of us cheered when I finally got my hands on this shanty. I used to fall asleep to hearing the shanties through the wall when I was little, or the sound of the cannonfire as he battled enemies. It was always comforting for me. I miss those times, but I'm glad they were there.
I would love to have a total remake of Black Flag using odyssey's and Valhalla's technology, making the game world a lot bigger and with 100% times more ways to build your ship and pirate kingdom.I liked Origins and loved Odyssey and Valhalla, but of all the creed games I loved and played Black Flag the most.
@@43V3R3 I have heard this as well, but I don't belive it.Most people I know who play assassin's Creed games thinks that Black Flag was the best of them all,at least until Odyssey arrived. If one should say something negative about Black flag,it would be that it is more a Pirate simulator than a Creed game and Edward Kenway might as well be a game version of Heath Ledger. But those things simply aren't a negative thing in my opinion and even though I really loved both Odyssey and Valhalla,I still like Black flag a lot more and I thing I allways will.Maybe it was because it felt like your very own playable pirates of the caribbean movie that so many people fell in love with Black flag.It also has the best Creed music by far and just feels like a real adventure with a very likeable main character. I can only hope that Ubisoft will at least make a 2'nd Black Flag game if they won't do a complete remake of the original. Maybe with the Daughter of Edward Kenway as the main character.
@@43V3R3 No, Black Flag has some of the strongest support, but you get the divide over AC fans who classify it as more of a pirate game than an assassin game, but all old-school AC fans love Black Flag more than the new trilogy. I think making the world even bigger would be worse, actually, as most of the collectible stuff was just completely busy work, and there just aren't enough interesting land activities to do.
Extrañaba los Assassin's Creed clásicos y creo que este fue el último con ese toque Ubisoft de la vieja escuela. Lo tenía en PS3 y no podía no jugarlo en PS4 cuando ya casi se va esta generación. Gracias Ubisoft!
After almost ten years I finally played and beat Assassin's Creed Rogue, the moment I heard this song and Leave Her Johnny while being a horrific devil on the seas sailing the Morrigan. It instantly brought me back to AC Black Flag and feel like that's what also helped me finally stick through it all.
Honestly, despite not being the full song, this might be my favorite version of it. It feels more "real" than any other version I've ever heard. The fact there's no instruments, the fact the singers aren't in sync, and the scruffiness of their voices makes this the only version I can actually believe is being sung by real sailors while at sea. It feels more organic and real than any other version I've ever heard, and that's enough to make me love it.
Funny fact: the irish rebel song "Óró, sé do bheatha 'bhaile" is sung to the same tune and is about a irish pirate coming home with troops to drive the English out of the country.
