    I use TTS when I'm in the middle of a book and need to take a shower or something else where I can't see the screen for a bit, that way I can continue the story by playing it over a Bluetooth speaker
    I get a bit obsessed sometimes haha

    Thanks for the review.
    I use TTS because I want to perform other tasks while listening to my book and not paying for the audio version.
    I know someone who has a learning disability and reading is difficult, so he uses TTS.

    Mine arrives tomorrow (11/18). I want the screen for drawing. I also read compulsively. But, I read in bed quite often where a smaller kindle is preferred. A few comments: I ordered mine from Amazon; I had to order the cover and stylus separately. Also, at the end of November Kindle is releasing Kindle Scribe, a Kindle + note-taking device. I strongly conducted that but then came across this. I love Android. Apple has too much hype. So I'm familiar with it (also kindle), and have a Nook. I'll be putting on book apps and, hopefully, my Google calendar. I use a password protection program, a weather app, yahoo, and a few other basic apps I'd hope to put on here, but most of my things will be used on my phone. Thanks for the review.

      Hi, so which do you think it's better, Meebook or kindle scribe ? I don't want to take any notes, just to read books that are pdfs. Of course these don't work well on a smaller display kindle.

    Hey, James.
    You answered every question I had about this so I'll answer yours =)
    I'm legally blind from toxic macular generation, which makes reading smaller print painfully slow, as I have to do it via peripheral vision. If there's something I need to read that can't be enlarged on the tablet, I use TTS. Most everything else, I enlarge it or skip it entirely, lol.
    "Terms & conditions? Sure. I read them."
    We're looking at a week of over 100° temps next week, with the coolest day being 102° and heat indices in the 120s°. Yay.
    Great review, as always.

      Thanks Jake, that's definitely helpful. I guess in this case, becasue you can change the font size easily, it's probably not needed?
      Similar predicted here, likely to break all -time records. Horrid. Stay safe!

      @@MakeUseOf -- That was 1 of the questions you answered in the review. Another was that it can do the negative thing. Black background, white font. WAY easier for me to see that. The reader app I use here on my tablet lets me do that. With my eye issues it's pretty much a must for text.
      Blah to your weather, too.

    its unfortunate that it doesn't support wacom, EMR pens are my absolute favorites to use, this was in fact worth 200€ more to buy the boox air 2 plus instead

    One thing I wish these "note" taking devices made it so you could use a bluetooth keyboard and have notepad on one tab to type notes and read your book along side, it would be so much more efficient.

    Does P10 Pro use the same pen technology as P78 Pro?? This is important because the meebook P78 Pro has much worse writing experience than Boox or SuperNote. It looks like from your video that the same pen is shared between P10 Pro and P78 Pro. But I need to double-check on that.

    • @EReaderChannel

      Does the P10 Pro pen use one AAAA battery?

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  2 роки тому +1

      It does use an AAAA battery, but I was under the impression it's a different / upgraded stylus compared to previous models - they aren't compatible.

    • @vernabailey3671

      It’s doesn’t have the Wacom layer. It’s also $100+ cheaper. So for extensive notes or sketching, I would go with Boox. But as an ereader that can takes notes, this is awesome for the price point. Cheaper than even the Kobo Eclipse with access to more reading apps since it’s android 11 and has google play.

    I use TTS to "read" during my long commutes. Amazon bought Ivona, so I can't use that as I used to, so I'm stuck with Google's default voices these days.

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Brad. So it's literally just case a case of being able to digest more text when you're otherwise disposed? Awesome. That default voice really sucks though, eh.

      From what I read elsewhere, this is relatively inexpensive because of the capacitive stylus. Devices that are a lot more expensive have the other stylus (I'm not up on terminology). In my research, this is the least expensive, with high reviews.

    Kindle world is not as sealed as it used to be anymore. You can read on a Kindle any book you want. I read books bought from Google, believe it or not. I learned how to remove drm 🫣.
    I had a Likebook Mars that broke down on me, bought a Kindle (which actually is not bad at all, I love its speed and straightforwardness) but I miss the size of a big screen so that's way I'm here, looking forward to get a Likebook-like reader. Thanks for the info 👍
