Ooh! Here's what I do with some of my bananas! After dehydrating them really good, I turn them into powder and mix them with pulverized dried mulberries and dates. Sometimes I add unpasteurized honey too. It makes a hard past kink of, and that's who I make my energy balls for when we go hiking and mountain skiing! As I don't live in the tropics, I buy my bananas by the case (18.4kg). Sometimes we buy 3!! We let them ripe, dehydrate some and then freeze the rest for smoothies and nice cream! Some of my favorite flavors are: 1) with Barleygrass juice powder, 2) with strawberries and basil, 3) and with black cherries! But just plane is sometimes all I need! So simple and satisfying!!!! Oooh! And banana-jackfruit?!!!!! OMG!! Insane!!
Thanks Fruity Elena for the tip - really good idea to mix grind them and add to energy balls. I used to make granola and ad some of the dried bananas that i cut into the mix! Oh yes, nice cream never gets boring, we can make so many flavours! I also love banana - jackfruit and happy that jackfruit season is just starting here!
@@jessibaby901 Cool!!! Before being vegan (like 10 years ago), I had a "traditional" icecrem with those 2 flavors and I loved it. I reproduce it since with 1 part frozen bananas and 1 part fresh sweet (the riper and sweeter, the better) strawberries, and a handful of fresh basil (not too much though; it might come out bitter) in a food processor and I find it's better than the original!! At least, better than my souvenir of it, hihi! Let me know if you end up trying it! 😊
I am from tamilnadu India. We too use full Banana plant for cooking and other things.. Banana leaf as plates nd steamcook Banna fruits as fruit, panniyaram, payasam, sweet, chips etc,. Banana stem as juice, poriyal (stir-fry),kootu Banner flower as vadai, strifry, curry Raw Banana as varuval ( roast), podimas (scramble) nd fry Banana Fiber for making clothes 🙂
Every fiber of banana can be consumed- for animals and people; and of course, they keep the ground moist; my favorite is to plant bananas and coffees close together ~~~
Here in Assam in Northeast India, we make "Posola" from the stem of the banana plant. The following is an excerpt from Wikipedia: Posola in Assamese cuisine is a food made with the inner part of banana shoots. The bark is peeled off and the tender inner part of the banana stem cut into small pieces. Onions, garlic, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and fenugreek seeds are fried in oil until they splutter and then the banana stem pieces are added into the mixture and simmered in a kadhai with some hot water. Once the water evaporates the dish is ready.
Totally blown away by it all. Thank you very much for explaining things. It's very inspirational!!! The bananas look so incredible and especially the ice cream and the banana pots and the cone. :)
@@MyFoodForest welcome 🙏 planted a few sweet potatoes in the home garden and they show good growth. Definitely Banana needs to be planted here in lots and different varities also if possible.
Here's one more, you can blanch the leaves in hot water or wilt it by sliding it over a fire to make great bio-degradable wrap/packing material for your lunch.
I have several banana trees in my garden but I will never get to taste their fruit as I live in an area that freezes but they come back every year. At least, I get to admire their beauty!
Hopefully, my bananas get envy with yours & will produce some fruits in a really short time! 😍 Then life in my food forest will be a lot happier than it is right now! 😁
Hi do u know tht u can plant veg in banana trunk? Dig a small hole put some dirt n seed. The leaves we steam cook mesh banana+flour+sugar. U can also do banana fritters. So many ways to cook such as banana cakes.
great video, relaxing and informative. the banana leaf nursery pot is GENIUS! also going to try the juice. other uses: banana leaf tablecloth banana leaf joint banana peel bacon (marinate then fry the peels in a skillet)
hello! i am your new subscriber. your place looks like a paradise! Too beautiful!!!😍😍😍Here also in the Philippines, we use the banana heart/banana blossom to cook with pork meat and coconutmilk as main dish 😊 are those banana candies in the jar??? i love making banana fritters tossed in white sugar and banana pancake out of it .. it is really delicious and easy to make🤤 thank you for the tips that you have shared! ^_^
Thanks and welcome! I can imagine that you have great bananas in the Filipines - Yes I made a lot of these ginger candies and some in the jars are also just plain bananas!
I feed the banana leaves to the ducks. My banana plants are so tall you need an extension ladder to harvest fruit! I give most of the bananas to my vegan friends.
You can try and not cut off the main stem of banana tree it can provide upto 70% nutrition fir the sister banana plant(small plant) it can reduce the need of extra nutrition and just cut off extra leaves just leave one or two on the top after pruning the fruits.
You can use the banana leaves as your plate. It has been scientifically proven that when you eat hot served food from the banana leaves it is good for your health.
Hallo.. Wow... Always a pleasure to watch your videos... My wife bake a banana bread... 😋😋Must give more details on that drink..... Your garden is "to die for" only go to shop to buy toothpaste and toilet paper.... 😁 😁 😁 😁 Greetings...
Did you find out why the black spots? I have them also in my main banana patch and I think its a fungal thing? It happened after I stupidly let someone come and get a load of pups and they left corms open (didnt cover the wound with soil) Now all of my bananas in that area have it. Sometimes I get black tiny spots on the bunches from there also. Sad!

I once saw that you can actually also eat the peel. I‘ve never done it before (maybe the peel should be a bit thicker than the ones you have) They took away that white stuff from the inside with a spoon and than seasoned and fried it. Maybe google a recipe for clearer instructions😅
