I edited the Mongoose special edition of Flight From The Dark and remember Joe loving the new illustration of Banedon, because it (coincidentally) looked just like Ben.
There is still hope hearing that Ben Dever didn't read his dad's inner world until later in life. My 10 year old daughter has yet to read anything I've published. Hopefully she will one day, even if I never see it.
My introduction to Lone Wolf was going on the family road trip. Couple of days in the car translated to many hours. I was an avid reader at 7, so I didn't mind what is usually a long, boring trip. I found book 3 in the library... then there was 2. Then 1 and 5. I checked all that I could find out, thinking that would keep me company. I had so many fingers in "savepoints" in the book, that I didn't even want to stop to go to the bathroom. I was so happy with these books. There was a large bookstore that I had to go to the fourth floor to get to the fantasy section. I couldn't buy any but I went to stare at the full collection 1-20 in that magical, endless bookstore. Mom would always insist that we could just get them at the library. I collected them all as an adult as one usually does when denied something as a kid, then lost most of them in a military move. I was able to get a number of Mongoose books off of Joe's ebay page so I have several signed copies and some of the newsletter exclusive stuff like the kai battle flag. I've slowly been rebuilding my collection for the second time and I've gotten much farther this time. I've gotten so far that there's not much left to buy at achievable prices. So of course, the next logical thing is to pick up sewing, something I've never been interested in before, and start on the large catalogue of Magnamund's flags starting with the Kai. Turns out, I was able to reconnect with my mother this way. I'm still learning but pretty much all of the little trinkets I'm sewing are LW themed. So, +1 hobby thanks to this series. I'm so grateful to Ben and the entire team for republishing this series and keeping it alive.
I think it’s amazing that Lone Wolf has remained a meaningful part of your life throughout, and that you were able to reconnect with your mother through seeing LW flags.
The question marks in the subtitles when Vincent talks about the team in Sweden is "Åskfågeln". Great interview. Time to start collecting the definitive edition. 🙂
Love seeing these two chat about the series. Ben is always so chill and wonderful to the fans and Vincent has such passionate energy. And passionate hair.
My father passed barely a year before Joe, and I envy Ben his ability to stay by his father's side during hospice. I am genuinely glad he had that opportunity and was able to learn another side of his own father and is able to share it with the rest of us in his own way.
It was great hearing both Ben's and Vincent's perspectives -- it makes me appreciate even more the beautiful definitive editions that I just got. Looking forward to the future interview episodes!
What a lovely video. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I was lucky enough to meet Joe at a convention and he was such a warm and welcoming bloke. Its so great to see this continuing and Ben and Vincent picking up the Sommerswerd and forging ahead! Long live the Kai!
Thank you for sharing such a great interview. Looking forward to the next. I have been absolutely thrilled to be replaying these wonderful gamebooks, thanks to the release of definitive editions. Everyone involved did an incredible job, their hard work and dedication has truly paid off.
I'm SO proud to be a fan of the Lone Wolf series. I feel it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. How many other universes have such an extensive size of literature? As far as I'm aware - Lone Wolf is bigger in scope than LoTR, GoT etc. Joe did a marvellous job creating such a thing, and Ben and Vincent have taken up the reins seamlessly - in-fact, in books 30/31 - you can FEEL the fresh inspiration coming through the words! Those books are beyond EPIC! I like many others are beyond excited for Light of the Kai (and melancholy also - because it means the end...or does it?!?) I believe that one of the most best things that could now happen to the Lone Wolf universe is being picked up by more media - Games, Film, TV, audio etc...can you imagine a Netflix adaptation like Black Mirror, Bandersnatch, where you choose your own adventure - wow! So for the next episode - I guess a question everyone wants to know: are Ben and Vincent considering anything beyond the conclusion of the books?
Thank you very much for this titanic work, can't wait to see the film adaptation of this lone wolf series just like the lord of the rings, it would be the final phase of this series which gave me the taste of reading from my 7 years old and I continue the lone wolf adventure still currently at the height of my 43 years... my series of hearts, may the goddess Ishir be by your side eternally Mr Joe Dever, and huge respect to Ben Dever and Vincent Lazzari for continuing and concluding this epic adventure. Strength to you & Thank you for that. Respect & Peace.😇👍
i was 7 years old, i walked into a bookshop near my mum's work place and saw a whole shelf of red fox edition lone wolf books. This was in 1987, and other Fighting Fantasy books were also available. I preferred gamebooks where one could choose skills etc, rather than just basic Combat and Endurance points. Lone Wolf had precisely those elements that i was looking for. Hooked on it every since. Thanks Joe Dever! Pity I never got a chance to meet. Would have loved to join those conventions etc.. but i am from far flung Singapore. Internet has done wonders to bring us all closer together.

Lone Wolf is directly the reason my Castles of Imagination books are linked together and following a single character through the six book series.

What I would give to see an MMORPG developed around Magnamund.
I didn’t realise there was going to be this stream - I would have tuned in! Excited to watch now!

Hi Lone Wolf Fans. I'm excited about this series of interviews. While you wait, tell me... how did YOU first become a Kai initiate?
Well, I was taking a nap in class, and... (though it has later been retconned)
I visited a bookstore.
@@fancy1725 that’s a good place to find books. Though, I’ve never seen one in a bookstore here in the states.
