I would like to see a remake of the movie. But not polished and no better computer animations. No. Just keep the style and make it unique. I think kids nowadays would like it as well as I liked it in 1998. my 2 cents.
I'll tell you what they should do with this series, they should try to remake this series, and use this kind of animatronic technology and great interaction with the toy and the player that is like the toy actually had real intelligence instead of artificial intelligence (without the wires, of coarse), it can be made by hasbro, have all 6 of the Gorgonites and all 6 of the Commandos that is just like from the movie, and it can be made to celebrate the movie's 15th anniversary what do you think, would that be a good idea for a toyline?
Small Soldiers is my favorite childhood movie, I'm really glad you shared this clip! I KNEW it used small animatronics, and to me that's way more amazing than CGI

Loved this movie as a kid. Haven't watched it in a while but now I want to hunt it down on DVD and watch it again. I remember I had the toys that they sold to promote the movie. I would wait till my Mom went to bed, go out into the hall, set them all up as if they were fighting each other, and then the next day when she woke up and walked into the hallway they would scare the hell out of her. Ha Ha. Ahhhhh good times.

A few years ago when first I watched this movie on tv in my country, I was very impressed with the puppets which were so perfectly sculpted with characteristic looks and shapes by First Class Artists / Sculptors, and also their movements in the movie, they were so life-like. Thank You to all the people involved in coming up with this superb puppet movie. Hope to see more of this kind of First Class Movie.

This video. This video right here is just bloody incredible! It's just so brilliant. You guys are truly amazing. Practically right here is history in the making! I loved this film as a kid. Keep up the work guys!!
I am so impressed, I remembered this movies and watched it in Netflix again like a year ago, I keep wondering how they did the effects, the movie looks so good, it is ahead of its time. Why they stopped using practical effects? Now this days everything is so much cgi.
You know what they could have done, a spin-off of the movie based on the conflict between the Gorgonites and the Commando Elite. My idea of the storyline (somewhat loosely based on the PS1 game) is this; _The World of Gorgon is a peaceful place of strange natural wonders, and great spiritual power, with the Gorgonites worshipping the Ancients. Of course, when faced with adversity, the Gorgonites will fight. Archer is a Gorgonite warrior recognized for his boundless bravery and noble leadership, and is named their Emissary by the Ancients._ _However, this peace is not to last. The human race from the planet Earth, driven by greed, sought to take over Gorgon as a colony and invaded. The Commando Elite, lead by Major Chip Hazard, is the cream of the crop within the humans' military forces, and they fight to destroy the Gorgonites. Now, Archer must gather his fellow Gorgonite warriors and fight back against the Commando Elite and reclaim their home from the human race, as the final battle between the two determined leaders draw closer. One thing, however, is certain about this war...THERE WILL BE NO MERCY._ How's this, you guys?
No wonder the effects still hold up today. I was convinced that the majority of the effects were created using some form of CGI for the longest time. Loved this film growing up. :) I even had a film-accurate size Chip Hazard.
This type of animation looks much better than stop-motion. Stop-motion is good when it's done *perfectly*, and if done sloppily, looks very fake. (example of good stop motion would be Ray Harryhausen's work). Unfortunately it appears that stop motion would take much more time and isn't nearly as flexible as this method when it comes to animating practical effects/props.
This was film finished about half an hour ago in the UK. Like everyone else in the comments, this was a childhood film of mine and I do not know if it is the same in the US but over here it is on at least once a month on the TV. I always wondered how they made the characters move, it said in the credits it involved puppets of some kind but i was not expecting this. This looks amazing!
This was probably a better fight between the two than they had in the movie! lol I know it was one sided for a reason, but Archer couldn't even get at least one good hit in!
Wow, that's really cool and impressive ! Hope I can rewatch the movie someday and observe and think about all the technical aspects like these that you don't think about as a kid. I loved that movie so much when I was young ! I even named my dog Alan because of it. 😅🤭
Please show this film again on RCTI INDONESIA. In collaboration with the RCTI INDONESIA contract, this film is really cool. Every episode is tense... Salute, the director is really cool. I love this film.
This is awesome. I bet its hard not to make noises like you do as a kid when punching, kicking, and flying when your puppeteering. :D Thanks for the upload I loved this movie as a kid.
It's a tad unfair, I admit. I admire both, since they take a great deal of skill to use and learn. (I use 3DS Max myself for modelling, but found being able to draw, and my experience of modelling in clay years ago, to have helped me out when learning it.) The problem is that there are far too many bad CGI animation examples vs Darn good ones, With puppetry/ stop motion animation, there is nowhere to hide if you are bad at it. People will call you out on your stuff.
Me niego a llamarlos efectos anticuados, es arte cinematográfico en estado puro, si no fueran perezosos y codiciosos, las compañías podrían haber hecho películas con aniamtronics con tiempo y dedicación y tendríamos clásicos modernos.
I love this scene archer fight chip in toy store in back room for cut scene tim shows up in back he hears gorgonite you are freak You will be pulverize he saw timmy and shoot the fore head
Haha look at the guy in the bg with the white t-shirt, can he be any more into it his facial expression's are priceless...any lessons on making these ?
You guys obviously know your stuff. I always wanted to see both the Orgonites and the Commando Elite do their own movies. I always wondered if you could get a stunt guy to dress up as Archer and have him be in a movie in the vain of Gladiator. Is that possible? I mean just think how cool it would be to see Archer go: ''ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!'' LOL

If they did a sequel and no disrepecg to Phil Hartmann character but they'd probably have to kill him off cause he died in real life

IKR. That's exactly how toys-that-can-move like characters should be, & I wish such a thing would be done for today's movies too 😁
Me too they really got to do a sequel that way they can still continue with these traditions of doing CGI and puppeteering.
