Official Instrumental: Onset, Don’t Be Long, Without Holding Back, from now on, Get to the Top, Go Nuts (hard to locate [from a commercial]) and Dawn Winery Theme (video game tie-in). Besides that, there’s an official Instrumental Score album of their Unseen World LP. There are also some Instrumental versions of some songs considered as bonuses.
In the most recent video "Forbidden Tale" Kanami shows of her Private Stock PRS for the first time, that she had just picked up and will be showing of her new PRS Signature in the Nov 25 concert in Tokyo. her signature was limited to 200 copies worldwide and they sold out within 12 hours or so(price is roughly $6k US). thanks for checking out the Maids I had been waiting patiently waiting for you to discover them. Now each member has a signature guitar(MISA from Black Cloud Guitars, Miku with her "Flappy Pigeon" from Zemaites and Kanami with her Custom 24-08 PRS) and drummer Akane has signature drumsticks available for sale so now we just need Tama drums to give Akane a signature model. cheers
Real Existence was during Band-Maid fun rock era. During a magic spell of Miku she said that Rock and Roll was, "Small, Small, Small" therefore I believe they expanded into a more rock/metal sound - increasing their fan base.
Whether it's rock, pop, punk, heavy, funk, progressive or jazz it's all about the feels like you said. And I think that is what is so appealing about their sound along with the personality of the band and personalities of each individual. Whether it's simple of complicated they go for what the song needs rather than each member's wants. A truly unselfish group and we get the benefit. There are documentaries on each member by Ohrenje on UA-cam that are worth checking out.
This is an old performance video in which you can see KANAMI playing the green PRS that inspired the color choice for her signature model. She said seeing the new guitar in that shade of green would remind of how much her guitar playing had improved since she bought that first PRS guitar, and that she must always continue developing her skills with same passion she had back then.
Kanami hasn't debuted her signature PRS yet, they're playing their last 2 shows of the year this weekend so I'm sure everyone going to those will be expecting to see it for the first time.
Great reaction thanks! This was Kanami’s first PRS in Trampas Green. You may have seen her refer to it in the PRS release video for her new signature model as the basis for her color choice which is in Trampas Green Smoke Burst. She also has several others that show up in vids over the years most notably the Lavender Burst Custom 24 (my personal favorite) and her Red 24-08 “Angry Larry” that had become her mainstay over the last bunch of years. We expect to see this new signature model along with her new Custom PRS Private Stock (Collection #088 “Dirty Blond”) make more appearances in future performances and vids.
I have been subscribing to your channel for a long time. Thank you for uploading reaction videos to many Japanese bands. However, I thought that you didn't like BAND-MAID because you didn't upload them. I'm relieved to see that it was a misunderstanding. BAND-MAID is the band that woke me up to rock music again after giving up on it at the end of the 80s. No other rock band has ever enthralled me as much as they have. I envy you for being able to follow their music history over the past decade. I look forward to your continued reactions to BAND-MAID. Thank you!🤘
The 3 earlier songs you reacted to are all from their most recent album, Epic Narratives. This song is much older. It was on their second release, New Beginning, which came out in Nov. 2015 and this live video is from an April 2018 performance. It is their 2nd most played-in-concert song and a fan favorite even though they did not compose it. Can't wait to see what songs you do next.
You’ve already noticed how different the songs can be. There’s even more variety than you might expect. They bring some of the best DNA from classic rock and blend it with Maid magic. You’ll be hard pressed to find Kanami showing off. She is a songwriter and musician first and has no ego. She plays what serves the song. She writes much of her songs on piano, so if you listen closely, you’ll hear Miku 🌹 playing the left hand rhythm while Kanami plays right hand flourishes. “Real Existence” is early Maid and had served as the choice to introduce new listeners to the band. Here are some other notable songs to keep an eye out for: “Thrill,” the song that saved the band. “Alone,” their first self-written song. “Domination,” LIVE. Replaced “Real Existence” as the intro for new fans. “From Now On,” instrumental lead single the Maids often begin sets with at festivals. “Hate?” Most recent new fan intro recommendation. Enjoy the journey 🚀
More often than not, Kanami’s solos will be more feel than technical, and shorter than you would like, but as you dive into the catalog you’ll notice she saves a lot of her technical playing during the verses under the vocals. And there are also times when the main ‘riff’ is a lead feature more technical than the solos. Go figure.
World famous and legendary producer Tony Visconti best known as David Bowies producer saw BAND MAID and loved what he saw and offered to produce a song for them(The Dragon Cries) he also showed up to their last appearance in New York and brought a treat with him. he allowed Kanami and Miku to play a 12 string Zemaites that he owned. one of 2 in the whole world with the other being owned by George Harrision. Miku was scared to touch it lol but Kanami enjoyed playing around with it.. the 2 singers Miku and Saiki got to spend a whole day with Tony in his David Bowie studio in New York working on vocals and he was super impressed with their work ethic and personalities
Tony Zemaitis started making guitars in the late 50s and first starting selling acoustics at the start of the 60s, I believe Eric Clapton had a prototype. Tony McPhee of The Groundhogs had the first metal top from him and as you said Ronnie Wood used them in the 70s with The Faces and then The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards either had or borrowed one as there are pictures of him around playing a Zemaitis live. Another notable is James Hetfield who has a Zemaitis 'Flying V'. Miku has many models both acoustic and electric including a 'Flying V' , her signature model 'Flappy Pigeon' and a disc front private stock.
Zemaitis guitars were originally British and were at first hand made in the mid 50's by Tony Zemaitis. He made Zemaitis guitars in the 60's for people like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Marc Bolan, Ron Wood, Ronnie Laine, Geddy Lee, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Keith Richards and many many more. Tony died in 2002 and Zemaitis Guitars started to be made in Japan under license. They still uphold the quality and vision that Tony had. Miku is in good company amongst the greats using Zemaitis guitars.
Just wait until you really dig into them as a band and as people. When you've seen their Okyuji's(concerts/servings) you will see how much they love their fans as much as we love them. In a while, you'll obviously need to watch the Orenje documentaries on them. There are many videos out there of behind the scenes as well as cute and funny moments. That will all come with time and then you'll agree they are the best band that's ever existed (IMO). They are the best band and they are the best people.
Real Existence is one of their older songs, and it was before the band really started writing their own stuff. Doesn't make it any less good, but you will notice a steady progression in their music as time goes on.
OK lead guitarist and composer kanami tono aka mincho but I call her minchozilla, saiki atsumi lead singer ice queen, miku kobato pigeon rythem guitarist backing vocals, misa, misa, misa aka barefoot assassin bass , akane Hirose aka gorilla not what you think she loves bananas on drums there you go next moratorium official live please
Yes, they now all have their own Signature instruments. None of them had them yet at the time of this video though. Miku's Zemaitis is called The Flappy Pigeon.
Official Instrumental: Onset, Don’t Be Long, Without Holding Back, from now on, Get to the Top, Go Nuts (hard to locate [from a commercial]) and Dawn Winery Theme (video game tie-in).

Cheers Brian. You just experienced a "Minchomania" moment :)
Thank you.

The best way to learn more about Band-Maid is to watch the documentaries by Ohrenje. There is one for every member with Miku's being a three-part one.

Yolo was written before Kanami joined Band-Maid wasn't it?
@ I think I have heard that before.

Funn.
Y you mentioned guns and rosesthey were in Japan and band made was their opener when they toured.
Without Holding Back is a Band-Maid instrumental with lots of tapping.

Thanks for the facts on the Zemaitis guitars, I also remembered that James Honeymoon Scott played one.
Band Maid = Fun
On the prog side, From Now On, Giovanni, Corallium
On my list, thank you.

They are "The Perfect Beast"
Great reaction - Facts. Glad to hear you have 20 potentials line up. I'll be here for all of them. G"N"R were only relevant because of Slash (IMHO).
No fan of Guns and Roses, definitely Slash was the only one that really could deliver.
Real Existence is one of their older songs, and it was before the band really started writing their own stuff. Doesn't make it any less good, but you will notice a steady progression in their music as time goes on.
Funny you should mention Guns N Roses. The maids opened for them when they came to Japan.
I didn't now that thank you.
