  • Jeremy takes a look at Wroth. A new smaller box area control and dice drafting game by Chip Theory Games. Expect some highly aggressive and on the fly tactics based on what action dice are available. You can also buy elite troops that lean into each faction's asymmetric abilities.

Some questions I had are (1) What is the incentive to back it now on crowdfunding since it will be available at retail? (2) Tim Chuon said his minor critique is that the troops are just abstract cylinders. There are upgrades to troops with metal cylinders which is still very abstract. The rest of the game looks so premium but it seems the troop decision was done to make the game more affordable. However, this is chip theory games, I would have bet cash money the troops were going to be chips. Is CTG (chip theory games), going to address the imo lack luster troops? (3) As a lover of area control games, what is the incentive to pull this game out over Blood Rage, Inis, Cyclades, Kemet, Scythe, etc? How does this game distinguish itself in a crowded market. In closeting, I will say the art work by Manny Trembly is phenomenal. Those psychedelic colors look amazing.

first off...I'm speaking from a backer perspective here cause I back 90% of their stuff.
First of all, thanks for watching:
      1. Usually it boils down to two very important things: Supporting the a company I'm a huge fan of and usually a small discount for the campaign. You'll get the game early..if that matters to you.
      2. One could argue that there's no different between the quality of a chip vs a die. It depends on what they make the final dice, finishing, material, whatever. I don't really seek a minis game from Chip Theory and I also don't want the price going up. I'm rocking with this design at this price. Maybe they have an upgrade solution, who knows cause I don't.
      3. I am not a lover of area control games AT ALL. I like this one enough to show it to you and I thoroughly enjoyed, probably cause it's a fairly fast and aggressive experience. I was a bit surprised by the gameplay depth when you place coop too. I just can't compare it to the giants of the hobby. What I do know is sometimes in this hobby it's all about the new and shiny with a twist more than is it innovative and can it beat x in my collection perspective.
