- After several years of hard work, finally I can say that I'm a certified computer toucher. Now, finally, I have the time, circumstances and power to get back to calculator touching. I've missed it so!
Thanks everyone for the encouragement, patience and interesting anecdotes during the past three years. They've been long.
THE KING IS BACK
The return of Calculator Bowser (or Elvis, I guess)!
@@1stSpyGuyI've just discovered you through another comment on another channel 👍 Subbed 🏴🏴👍
Yayy! My favorite calculator youtuber!
This is the most specific thing I've ever been a favourite as! :D
Please come back again! Fantastic videos really diving into the mechanical functions I love it and miss it terribly.
Congratulations on the degree 1stSpyGuy, excellent stuff. We've missed you, but what a machine to return with - definite mechanical calculator envy from over here!!!
"3.6: not great, not terrible"
I see what you did there 👀
He's back
😎
I guess the return was short lived!
Super excited!!
Hope I delivered! :D
@@1stSpyGuy you did!!!!! This video is perfect, THANK YOU and congratulations on your degree!!
Congratulations on your degree! Great to see a new video from you. I found your channel quite recently, while trying to use a mechanical calculator myself, and I want to thank you for your very good tutorials about the original odhner machine. Tack så mycket, jag lärde mig massor av de videorna 😊
Thank you so much! 😄 I'm really happy you liked the videos. Lycka till med din maskin!
Im dying without more of these videos 😢

Welcome back dude. I've still been periodically re-watching some of your content during the hiatus.
Yoho. Unexpected upload, but happy to see it.
We missed ya man, great to see this 💛💛💛
Congrats on graduating!
Thank you kindly!
Wow I thought you were gone for good! My feed dropped this video into my feed which made this a very good day.
Oh I'm so happy you're back! I hope life is going well for you. You're in classes, correct? This semester has been rough!
Thank you! I was in classes until graduation this summer, then spent the fall recovering from three harrowing years. I can say it's definitely worth the hard work in the end!
@@1stSpyGuy oh good! I'm glad. I'm currently going through finals, so I understand the need for recovery!!
Been way too long! Hope all is well. Glad to hear from you again. Missed your great videos.
I thought this was a dead channel. Glad you are back. Never unsubscribed.
YES!! Finally after one year, he'a baaaack! But also, Congrats on the university degree :)
Wonderful to see you back, congratulations on your degree!
Glad you’re back. Congrats on your degree
Maaaaaaaaaaaaate! Missed you buddy. Welcome back from a fan in Australia, and well done on the uni degree. Cheers!

THE CALCULATOR MAN ARRIVES
Absolutely thrilled to have you back!
It made me so happy to see that you had uploaded again! Welcome back!
Welcome back! I've missed your content tremendously!
Omg! He lives!
Congrats on the degree, and welcome back!
Good to see you back fella, missed seeing you around!
You should do a video on the flipper zero :)
The legend has returned!
You’re back!!!!! Hooray!!!!
What a great machine! And congrats on your graduation :)
Great to see you back!
For God's sake, man! You have to make more videos!
YES. Also, this one is very interesting. It feels like a curta that's been expanded out into a whole machine.
It's good to see you back, a lot happened in these years for pretty much anybody and it's nice to see your collection expanding.
In my opinion the thing that this machine really could do with is a way to carry a result from one side to the other, but it really depends on what needed the people towards this calculator was marketed; it would be a useful piece of information if for say there was a specific proces which required such double machines
That would've been cool, but this machine lacks a back-transfer ability. Though, one of my electric machines can move a result from the counter register back to the input, which is pretty wild. I hope to make a video about that one soon, but last time I ran it for any length of time it tripped my breaker.
The excitement of old electronics! :D
Congratulations on your degree. Touching computers is fun but unless you can use an old fashioned teletype, I doubt it will provide the same enjoyment as your calculators. I'm so glad to see you back!
Thank you! A teletype is very much on the "want badly" list.
The classic traverse calculation is bearing distance cos sin latitude departure…you could enter cosine in the left and sine in the right then wrap your distance up in both (multiplication), left answer is latitude and right machine is departure. So now I “need” one of these. Monroe’s recommended procedure was distance on keyboard, wrap up cosine, write down latitude, clear registers but not keyboard, wrap up sine, write down departure.
Nice explanation! :) I tried to make a video explaining the topic in greater detail, but it just became wordy and not clear enough for me to present it.
@@1stSpyGuy thanks for the build up division method. It appears to allow for more precision in calculating reciprocals (1/x). I did 1/190 which amounts to adding 19 5 times then 2 times etc leaving me with 1 zero and 7 significant figures in the upper register. The answer being 0.0052+
I have an arc of 190 radius, the old books had a table for circumferences of the unit circle. My arc length is 19.01 so I multiplied that by 1/190 then look up the included angle on the table. Interesting methods the old timers had.
Naturally one could look up the log of 190, subtract that from 10 then look up the answer, add two zeros on the front.
Oh hooray. Congratulations on your degree, and welcome back! Any time you have for us is greatly appreciated, but do what you need to. Peace from SE U.S.
I find these videos so interesting, please do more! Also, congrats on the degree!
Congratulations on your graduation! Here at our university graduation ceremonies are always a hoot, help charging the batteries of us professors.
I love these weird old mechanical devices. I'm glad you have a degree, congratulations. You provided an anchor and fine minuta to otherwise unhinged forum threads getting derailed by dumb sidetracks.
Hoping you at some point get around to showing the other new calculators in your collection, I’m fascinated by these things
Lever catch is to ensure that all gears in correct position thus to not damage those gears and sprockets and prevent jamming of apparatus then you will reset and carry.
So good to see you back! Excited to see what other calculators you picked up.
hey is that a Flipper in the background? hell yeah man. love your vids
ooh nice flipper. i love mine
U back awesome
HOW DID I MISS THIS
Congratulations on the degree!
Missed you : )
I guess the amount of components in that machine to make it all go around is immense
Would you PLEASE do a flipper zero video? Would love your take on its use. Too many videos of kids turning off TVs like it’s just a universal remote.
I hope you post more videos
Nice job! Welcome back love your stufff
What is the degree in?
nice flipper and calculator~ ;)
Ah Brunsviga, thats from my hometown
How did I miss this upload?!
You were high and watching UA-cam less due to a preoccupation with cheese and other comfort foods.

oh yeah

Intressant maskin.
Haha 3.6 😛☢️
hey man this is real random just wondering if u still play tf2? i saw some of your old videos, i wanna know what it was like back then.
It happens on occasion, but the game used to be a lot more readable without all the cosmetics and various weapons.
It used to be that it was easy to find out how a specific class would behave, but nowadays it's such a huge spread of different behaviours (pyro somehow whips out a jetpack, etc).
The addition of matchmaking kind of detracted from the fun of random servers, but even those had a huge spread. One huge cancer on the game was Saigns (a possibly commercial community operator) who were running a stupid amount of servers where donors could get "premium" (permanent crits, speed hacks and health recovery). The thing that finally killed it for me was the bots though.
Now I've played a bit once the bots are mostly gone, but the magic isn't quite there for me any more.
@@1stSpyGuy yeah i get how it is. luckily client side mods are now supported in vanilla servers, so you can get back to what it used to like! honestly im just so glad i got to play in the golden age. what a time i had.
the tf2 renaissance is coming though, i can feel it.
@@vertipop I really hope so! The entire reason I have this name is because of maining Spy way back when.
@@1stSpyGuy haha yeah, this game has shaped a lot of people
Im sorry it took me this long to realize you had a new video. Im so sorry...
I’m so happy you’re back!
