A mule is the offspring of a male donkey (jack) and a female horse (mare).[1][2] Horses and donkeys are different species, with different numbers of chromosomes. Of the two first generation hybrids between these two species, a mule is easier to obtain than a hinny, which is the offspring of a female donkey (jenny) and a male horse (stallion).
The size of a mule and work to which it is put depend largely on the breeding of the mule's female parent (dam). Mules can be lightweight, medium weight or when produced from draft horse mares, of moderately heavy weight.[3]:85-87 Mules are reputed to be more patient, hardy and long-lived than horses and are described as less obstinate and more intelligent than donkeys.[4]:5

These mules are a beautiful creatures. I am now 68 yrs. Old . When I was a young boy my dad (who was disabled) he bought 2 miles every spring and would sell them in the fall . I am the youngest of 5 boys , we farmed 52 acres
With 2 miles every year until I finished high school .Yes sir I have a special place in my mind when I see a mule . It makes my day.

They are well taken care of .
We had once a mule for many years we sold it then 10 years later my uncle bought it again without recognizing her when she reached the village he was riding her ;she came to the house straight without any directions from him once at home all members of familly recognized her .

Love these guys. They show so much respect to the mules. Its true that civilization was built on the backs of equines and its lovely to see the reverence with which these mules are treated. I grew up in the UK and in all my sixty plus years, most of which I have owned horses, I have never met a mule in the flesh! I would love a couple to ride and go camping in the Highlands but they are just not to be found where I come from. (I tend to really love Highland ponies and Highland crosses for the same surefootedness, good temperament and easyness to keep (in comparison to the more hot blooded breeds). This was a great video and I will subscribe.

I want a mule badly, but I can't understand auctioneers and online they don't remove ads even if they are 5 years old so it has been a nightmare.
My advice for you is to Google mule farms or mule breeders. If you are set on buying a mule by auction, this will be a toss up on what you get. I personally bought my mule at auction and it was a huge risk. I got lucky though. Despite the fact that he was wild when I bought him, he is a sound and healthy young mule. He is not old enough to ride but he has been easy to train so far (after I earned his trust). So when you buy a mule at auction, observe closely at how he looks and moves

Because of the odd number of chromosomes, their sperm and eggs don't match up, so they're sterile.
The male mule is sterile but the female mule must have the mare organs for procreating and she will make horses not mule
