D9 is called shaswat chart which means what is permanent. So lagna chart is what you are born with while Navamsa is what you finally become. Infact in South India, most astrologers only look at D9 chart & don't look at chart of child below age of 12 as till this time period, it's driven by his/her parents chart only.
