It’s time for a quick review of the English expressions I taught you here on the Aussie English podcast!
Over the past few episodes, I talked about 5 English expressions that you can use for your daily conversations:
Make A Fool Out Of Yourself - aussieenglish.com.au/1142
Read Between The Lines - aussieenglish.com.au/1144
Where The Rubber Meets The Road - aussieenglish.com.au/1146
    Take No Prisoners - aussieenglish.com.au/1148
    Foot The Bill - aussieenglish.com.au/1149
As always, I’ll give the definition of these expressions and use them in sentences to help you understand what they really mean.
Don’t forget to pause the video so you can write your own sentences in the comments section, too.
And lastly, I will teach you how to say the contract the phrase “would not have” like a native English speaker!

My husband and I fought last week, and I decided not to talk to him, I took no prisioners this time because I was so angry. When we were talking, I said the things the best I could, because in that moment is where the rubber meets the Road, but also when the converation was getting to serious I read between lines that we need to be more relaxed so I described my actions making a fool out of myself

    Hi Pete! Great Video!
My favorite expression is none other else than: "Where the rubber meets the road"; since I tend to be a little bit lazy in starting the things I have to do... 😄😄😄
    Thank You very much!

Unrelated to this video but you may like to know that a "thong" is from old middle English meaning a small strip of leather, and is in the Webster (American) dictionary as a Sandal held on the foot by a leather thong.
This definition well before the undergarment thong came into the vernacular. You can use this !!! Keep up the good work. Love your vids, mate.

    Quick question Pete.
Have you ever investigated the Canberan accent?
It's a bit rare. Really only found in native born Canberrans. We tend to sound more English.

I've been waching the reels on facebook, there a nugget and a bloke tell jokes like: Things you can say in the "bla bla bla" and in the bedroom.
If you can react and explain it well be awesome. One of those jokes was about the rubber meets the road.

When I was walking a street, I used a umbrella though it is not rainy. I made a fool out of my self.
My sister said that she had a headache but she might be Okay if she is absent from the piano lesson. Read between the lines, she just didn’t want to go to the lesson.
In order to get award, I will take no prisoners.
Finally I could enter the Uni in Australia. This is where the rubber meets the road.
Hey, dad. It is possible to foot the bill for this BMW for me?

I made a fool out of myself as I banged on a glass door. The door was too clean and I could not even see it existed.
I heard someone broke a glass while mum and dad were doing the dishes. I read between the lines and I knew it was mum who had dropped the glass as there was no scolding.

I missed my flight to Australia due to arriving late at the airport and made a fool out of myself. Upon approaching my dad at airport parking, I read between the lines and realised I better take a taxi and get home safely. I will be returning to Australia and this is where the rubber meets the road. On my way home I decided that I am not taking any prisoners. Once I reached home, I told my dad that I have to rebook so can you foot the bill for the ticket and he said ok and I am ready to fly, WAS IT A GOOD TRY?

You won't want to play a game with him as he will take no prisoners. The game will break your friendship so it is better for you to reject having a game with him.
His boss agreed to his project proposal so this is where the rubber meets the road. I hope his project goes well!
It will be very embarrassing if I forget my wallet while I am trying to treat my friends a meal in a nice restaurant. Therefore, I will double-check if I have bought my wallet to prevent anyone footing the bill.
