Loperfido needs to play more....average now at .372, and over .400 OBP, and he can play 1st base. It's a small sample size, but I'd play him until he starts to struggle.
With Tucker out we need him in the outfield making great catches like that. But he definitely needs to keep playing, he's gotta the motivation to perform and keep his spot which is what this team needs right now.
Good guy Montero wanted his buddy Abreu to get a save chance! Respect!

I think when you’re up 14-3 at one point, and your closer still gets a save…something’s wrong with the bullpen. A wins a win but definitely feels like a bad win.

Whelp....i was excited to see Bloss, and what we DID get to see was pretty good. Nothing but soft contact that didn't go his way a couple times and cost him 2 runs. More often than not, that soft contact will be outs and scoreless innings. Hopefully it was just a tweak that took him out and he'll be fine
That's right, excellent opening despite the 2 runs for those lucky hits hahaha. And he shoots hard with well-placed pitches. There is no way I can trust Montero with one more inning. Unlike the newcomer, Montero almost always gets good, deep contact in the outfield. He doesn't convince me at all, in important games I hope they don't play him. Oh and Loperfido has to stay yes or yes, tremendous player. On the other hand, we are already understanding why Jake Meyers had been given so many playing opportunities, the man is growing and is producing at the right time. GO ASTROS!!! A hug and let baseball continue!!!
Imagine how strange it is that an Astros pitcher could get hurt. So weird to think about whether or not something like that could happen. Nah, never happen.
I'm more convinced than ever that Jim Crane made a deal with the devil for 2022. All time great pitching staff that year and now the last 2 years have been non stop dropping like flies....

Tuve, Bregman and Dubon were just solid tonight! Never been a Meyers fan, but credit where it’s due. Really nice seeing Loperfido out there rather than Chaz, who is overrated. Hernandez and Montero, neither should put on the Astros uniform again!
I've been a Meyers fan, it took him a long time to get over that injury. Chas should be traid bait, dude was a flash in the pan last year and still struck out too much with RISP

I don't really count the Hernandez outing because he's not a part of our A or even B list bullpen typically. Montero however is starting to show his old ways again. I guess this would be the season to do it... All in all, I still think it's a great win aside from the Montero outing, all the other pitchers did well, and our bats came to play.
Montero has to have a clean inning. With no one on base he'll give up a solo on occasion which isn't bad, but with guys on base he can't be trusted.
Hell of a catch by Loperfido! Anyone saying Tucker would have made that catch is crazy, same with the Meyer's catch.
Saw Bloss wincing and was hoping it wasn't injury related, good eye by Espada to check on him. Too bad he left Hernandez in WAY too long to make this a close game, hopefully he learnes you can't do shit like that vs an offense like Baltimore.

We went ten rounds in this one & I didn't even know these Astros had it in them! Lmao. Sure, reckless play & behavior darn near gave away the most important game in the series. But I take it & run, at this point. 😂 Bloss did all he could against the best hitting team in the majors, arguably, & they certainly proved it here. So, shoutout Astros with the big plays to secure this heart-stopping victory because lord knows it would have been devastating to lose, otherwise given the leather from the bats, in this first game. So, let's do it again, tomorrow! 🙂

Why in the world would a double play not be considered an RBI? Also, play the damned second baseman at least in normal position when you have a double play chance. Why the hell is Altuve playing first base? Burned them twice.
All Loperfido does is get on base and make things happen, making plays in the OF and being a spark to the offense. I don't care what his strikeout rate is or his whiff rate is, now that Abreu is gone, he should stay with the big league club for good.
He brings an energy to the team that is badly needed, Diaz was that guy last year, this year it's Loperfido.
@bobbygetsbanned6049 idk that I'd call Diaz a "spark" in the lineup. And that's not to say he wasn't good, he obviously was great, but Loperfido reminds me of Jose Siri how he would just make things happen on offense and then make great plays on defense.....except if Siri actually had an IQ above a school zone speed limit....
If the front office truly believes this is a playoff team. Bullpen needs fixing
