Thank you for this video... great interview. I've reading many of the comments and replies below, 85% of it is ignorant BS. I'm a retired owner operator with 51 yrs of trucking behind me.... so I do know a little about trucking. This couple is leased to Southern Pride, which is primarily a Very Specialized carrier in the transporting of Military and commercial jet aircraft engines... which generally only weigh between 3,000 to 8,000 lbs (depending on type and application) and they rarely haul more than One engine per trip... though, occasionally will have Two or Three depending on engine size, so weight is NOT a big concern as far as the truck is concerned. Also, they generally haul engines that are scheduled for overhaul on the eastbound run... usually to either General Electric's Jet Engine division or to Pratt & Whitney, and return westbound with a "fresh" engine(s) and the time factor from point "A" to point "B" in either direction is Very "tight" and there is NO time for sitting around truck stops or anywhere else en-route... which is why ALL of Southern Prides Owner/Operators have "Large Cars", Not "just" the Smiths here in this video... though some are Not as long in the wheelbase as this one. Southern Pride also does GSE moves (Ground Support Equipment) which also includes Over-dimensional as well as aircraft parts, not only in the contiguous lower 48, but also internationally.... I think that in the now 40+ years in business.... they probably have things figured out a bit better than some of the "expert" nay sayers on here. Southern Pride Only accepts the Very Best of the Best for Owner/Operators with Years of proven experience behind them and with impeccable credentials, both as previous long term Owner/Operators and in personal character.... which would exclude At Least 85% of the "wanna be" (re: Phony) truck drivers I see climbing out of trucks these days, with nose rings, spandex, tattoo's from head to toe, pajamas, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum... and no real integrity to speak of. Over 90% of Southern Prides Owner/Operator teams are Husband & Wife (as in Male & Female), and most of them have been married for Many years with no prior marriages..... they are "Solid" people. The Owner/Operators who have what it takes to "make the grade" and are excepted to run for Southern Pride... make a Very Nice living, close to $300,000 per year... Minimum. As Chris Smith stated... they spend most of the year, on the road... straight out with very time sensitive, High Value loads, the rigs that SP's O/O's have... are built for what they do (though there are some that have bought "2nd hand", but are very suitable for the running and loading conditions with SP, so all this garbage I'm reading on here about "they're too heavy" - "too long" - "can't back up a trailer" - "very impractical", etc, etc, etc, ad-nauseam.... is pure BS, written by a bunch of faceless "keyboard cowboy experts" who are completely ignorant of the subject at hand.
@End this police corruption..... I do Not recall discussing the overall length, not their trailer length - individually. If you're looking for an argument, or trying to just be insinuative... I'm not playing that game with you, nor anyone else.... nor do I need to give a detailed report to you on my years of experience.... which is now approaching 51 years, over 30 years as an O/O... and just so you know... my longest load was 287' 9" long... a refinery vessel hauled to the refinery way up in Yellow Knife, NWT. You don't need 53 nor 48' trailers to haul jet engines... SP is legal in All 48 states. PS: I will say one thing.... I agree with your "handle" here on YT.
End this police corruption You are an ignorant moron that knows dick about length because I go into every state without permits. If you want to talk about romper room then you will know more then

@@perpetualgrin5804 yup I ended up a pipe designer for 30 yrs until my lower back went out on me. After 6 lower back surgeries I had to retire so I’ll never get to drive a truck but oh well such is life I guess. Take care and stay safe out there 😁👍
Amazing design. Beautiful work for the rig. Intelligent setup with minimal space. And the people are just awesome. I know they they are running jet engines, but the thing that scares me would be the weight and fuel consumption. Still, it really is a gorgeous rig.
I think it looks impractical but the fact that it exists at all means that someone knows this won't effect their bottom line so good on them for being able to do a very difficult job in more comfort than most.
This is very interesting. I love that they are adding comfort to the trucking experience. More and more freight haulers are necessary in order to provide goods and services that we love and enjoy every single day. It's nice to know that the job doesn't have to suck all of the time.

Yep. Just as nice as that high end 5th wheel camper in the video. Looks like a DRV Mobile Suites, could be a LUXE as well. But the ultimate is Spacecraft RVs, and New Horizons.
Wow that’s simply stunning. Our English trucks have nothing on these. I remember the daf 500 that had a Cummins engine in it with twin eminox stack pipes. Sounded awesome. Amazing piece of engineering.
You don't have roads in the UK or Europe that can handle the turning circle of this tractor alone plus the legal requirements so these monsters will never been seen over the pond.
I love how ppl in the comments have no clue what they're talking about. This man hauls short , light loads, that are extremely important and expensive. Usually aeronautical cargo. He don't use a 53' trailer. And doesn't do many runs. Cause he gets paid handsomely.
Saw this truck yesterday in delray florida getting off the turnpike.. Yes the wife was driving I gave her a thumbs up. In person this truck is huge ! Beautiful truck !!
Besides all the obvious cool stuff I was impressed with the full cowl over the rear axles - more truckers should do this, it shows respect for their fellow motorists
It's not always practical. Try getting a set of chains on that truck when winter closes in and mountain passes require them. Of course that's not what this truck is for, they take winters off. But not every truck can have tight fitting rear wheel fenders like that. Mine has quarter fenders and mud flaps, which leave plenty of room when I need to stop and chain up.
@@erikdevries9208 hello, because of what we haul the companies do not want us putting chains on, when you have a 5 million dollar engine and sometimes 75 million they want you to wait till the roads get clear. We do work some of winter and we have only once had to park due to chain law but it was only for 5 hours.
That is a Sweet Ride I am a Retired Diesel Mechanic and I can say that is a Beautiful Ride all thou it is probably a bugger to work on it is still a Nice Truck Love it.

This is a working Truck but it’s brand new plus it’s a greaseless 5th wheel so you don’t have all that mess everywhere. The air connections are on the back as I don’t use a pogo stick. I think you need to learn a little more about trucks.
They haul aircraft engines airport to airport. Specialized flatbedders are about the only people who can get away with a truck like that because they always run light and never have to hit a dock.
People have the wrong idea about this truck. This isn’t a truck you make a career in. It’s a dream truck. It’s a truck you retire in, hauling small freight because you love trucking. It a hobby that PAYS YOU.
Everybody talking about interior outdated. Lol I don't recall the 60s having a fold out flat screen and LED lighting. Nice truck. Congrats Mr and Mrs Smith.
@Sal Vastola..... and it will be "waiting" for a Lonnnng time before this and other Southern Pride rigs show up in the territory and on raods where "11' 8" underpasses" exist.
Just goes to show how STUPID you guys are. It is used to haul oversized loads. See the flashing lights on top, they are there so you can see him coming down the road.
Now this is a luxury liner if my dad and uncle were still alive they be in heaven with is a true coast to coast hauler but 50’/60’s was a long way back but a great truck
I hauled 13 axle 50 wheel freight. At that time, the only Pete that had a 22,000 pound front axle was the 367. It was ugly but stout. Bedroom space didn't matter, load space mattered and paid. We had a 13 axle Lidell, a 13 Alex Fontaine, and a 100 ton decked Siebert trailer that didn't know it was loaded when 275,000 pounds of cargo was loaded. We charged between $15 and $22.50 a mile and slept in hotels.
I'm no driver, but I think this is beautiful, Thanks for answering the question I had in my head, "Is that practical?, Or is it a show truck?" If it's a daily driver I would be scared that some idiot on the road would cause an accident. And how much does something like cost to insure?
I guess if you love the road that's for you. I'm still trying to figure out less time in the truck. But another 13 or 14 years and I'm done, can't wait
When I started out it was in a Rmodel mack, no power steering no air conditioning no stereo and barely had heat and drove oversized loads of precast concrete, some loads were 16 foot wide. Sometimes hard to handle in such trucks like that. But we always got our product to the job safe. It's just sad to think what trucking use to be and what it is today. I work for a company that's probably the biggest in the world if not the biggest. I have watched the industry change so much throughout the years and the people being hired today do not care anything, no pretrip no post trip, just making money. These people on the road today n there electronic devices, every night looking out for people swerving into my lane and truck driver watching videos going down the road. It just insanity. It bothers me that there isn't much professionalism in the trade anymore. I stopped training drivers because some want to learn but most don't. But it nice when a guy with 25 years experience says that they learned something new training with me. It's just you got through your career always in a professional manner, always. I tell alot of these new drivers that there is no more professionalism in the trucking business or very few show it. I say, if your not going to do it in a professional manner then don't do it. Sorry you the wrong impression of me. You know when you spend your whole life in a truck you either do it right or you become a shortcut driver. That's the reason why I stopped training drivers. To many shortcut driver's today

2Stroke Diesel Power thank you for this comment!
Great comment that explains well what it's all about.
2Stroke Diesel Power very well said Sir. Love it

Michael Prosperity..... You Can, have a "job like that".... here's what it takes.... If you have a minimum of three years over the road commercial driving experience, and meet the criteria listed below.....
Previous auto transport, HHG, HVP, car carrier driving jobs or similar specialized experience
Dedicated to customer satisfaction and good company relations
Compliance with FMCSR, company safety policy and tax regulations
Clean motor vehicle record
Have verifiable experience in driver safety and cargo securement
Qualified drivers candidates are rewarded with strong revenue, and full administrative support for your operation.
Individual and team car carrier drivers with specialized auto hauling driving experience are encouraged to apply.

Bb Cala.... I think you can relax.... my guess is, that you won't have to wait that long.
