At an altitude of 2373 meters above sea level, overlooking a soft bed of fluffy clouds, the Izana observatory feels like a parallel world. Next to the peak of the mountain Teide, Tenerife Island, it is an extreme outpost for measuring greenhouse gases in a unique environment.
#ExploreICOS is a photo & video series presenting the people, the stations and the activities of ICOS, a European Research Infrastructure. We are measuring greenhouse gas emissions at more than 170 measurement stations spread across 16 European countries. In this series, we take you on a journey to the fantastic locations of our stations and you also get to meet our multicultural crew.
