  • A student approached me to ask about the Scripture verses on my "Stop for Prayer" sign. The conversation then turned to the subject of evangelism. The student, a proponent of establishing relationships before communicating the gospel, heard about the great trap of friendship or relational evangelism.

Thank you for asking the questions and listening and teaching, this is what’s needed for young Christian’s true discipleship.

What a joy to hear a college age young man that seems to know how to evangelize .
As for friendship evangelism, I love the chapter on this in your book Cross Encounters . I believe it's so true for many Christians. Thank you 👍🐩

Great conversation for all Believers to have. But hard to hear everything. I am just learning about Discipleship now on my own since I am now 55 and not once have I been to a church that taught about witnessing and evangelism. Except on a high level. The churches will talk about it but not discuss what it is like you do with this young man. We are severely missing basic training skills in or churches. I had no idea about this stuff up until 3 years ago when I found an old book about Discipleship at a bookstore. Then I learned the lingo and started searches online to find out more. It is a disgrace that our churches are not doing more for the people. And I have even looked up seminary curriculum for a couple of schools out of curiosity and they have hardly anything if at all on discipleship being taught to our pastors and church leaders. And that really shows as I see when new people come to church, they are not getting discipled. They are not growing as Christians.
