I'm so glad you're testing the soil and water. It is SO important that you do that. Some things can be fixed, others can't. Your realtor should have disclosed the history and potential hazards, if any, regarding the property. Your health and that of your animals is the top priority. Best to you guys and hope it all turns out well for you!🙏🙏🙏
I’m a retired agent. Disclosure is the Sellers responsibility, not the agent. The agent can only disclose what the Seller provides. Many times the person selling has never set foot on the land, & the disclosure is completely blank. A property sold through inheritance or part of an estate usually has nothing to disclose, because they have never lived on the property or have knowledge of anything about the property. I hope this helps.
I worked for an environmental dept at a test facility at NASA in NM, obtained my TX realtor license, and have worked with attorneys for over 20 years. ...different laws for different states...still he should have been given the right to test prior to the purchase and decline without any ramifications if the soil/water tested hazardous. And, yes, the realtor and Broker do hold some responsibility, as the seller. Disclosure is of utmost importance, too!!! I would retain an attorney as soon as possible.
@Marina Hyre I hope not, but sounds like it may have been a quick sale. Prob FSBO, take it or leave it deal. Contaminated property is often sold that way. It all boils down to doing what you love..we are all different...I like watching homesteaders, builders, landscaping. My husband worked at his last job for 42 years (he started working at the age of 14 on a golf course/then pickle factory) he loved his job, they gave him 2 years to get ready to retire (he did not want to) but things don't work out as planned. ..after running the torch in Sochi on 2/04/2014 he died on 5/04/2014 (I have the torch, the uniform, the tickets to attend the opening & closing ceremony etc.). If you're going to put in a septic tank you need a perc test you'll have to get a hold of the county health department. Just keep that in mind while you're testing everything else
If there's an agriculture extension service near you, you can pick up the testing vials and soil bags from them, and then take them back to be sent off. The university at Tulsa probably does the testing, start with phone calls. It's a great idea to test, not knowing what was there before. Be careful working, sticker thickets can catch ya! Jason, don’t change anything. I been watching you since the ranch rescue days. I watch your videos before I watch Netflix and Prime. It’s a part of my routine. Have a great day.
I like watching homestead videos because I think of them as survival and resourceful in uncertain times. As for doing a go fund me, I wouldnt do one either. That would allow others to say they had a hand in helping you to reach your goals. Be who you are Jason. You 3 are real people! That's what makes me watch your channels. Your builds also make me wish I could do it. True Americans doing what you love! SHOOTDANG!!!!
Contact your County Extension Office they should have the kits and tell you how to take the samples and where to send them. Very good ideal about getting the soil and water tested.
Take your soil from different points on your property even water to the Extension office in town. They will give you the containers , sometimes it will cost a fee but well worth it. Good luck. Jason Blessings 🙏
Hi y’all, I don’t know much about water and land testing but I do have a suggestion on the inside of the house you’re working on. I can see it done in the 70’s style where you put stained wood or paneling above 4 feet from the bottom up, then a chair rail with sheet rock on top. The best of wood and sheet rock. I’ don’t comment but I’ve watched you since the cleanup on the ranch you first done. I love admire what y’all are doing there. Thank you for being transparent even when things go wrong. By the way I’m 75 years old and I love your videos.. God Bless
Check with the County Extension office they should have free or low cost testing for those kinds of things. Your county extension agent can be a very valuable resource for all kinds of things. Worth taking the time to talk to them. God bless
As soon as a chanell starts with this is organic or this is grass raised, I am out of there. I am 73 years old and was raised on a real ranch of over 20,000 acres and we always had to suppliment the feed in the winter. We hunted and most of what we ate at home was wild meat not beef. :)
Start at your county extenion office. They can also guide you on alot of the questions you have. They also can tell you about different types of grants that may be available to you.
I really appreciate it that your entire family is shoot it straight and you don’t apologize for who are! We love you just like you are! It’s why I have stuck around, because of how real you guys are!
Do what makes u happy. Thanks for the update. Always look forward to see the process you make from video to video. There for awhile I wasn’t as interested in the tiny home content, I thought what u did was incredible and really inspiring, I just enjoy more of the couple channels so I really liked off the clock more than the others, just seeing what others do and how they interact, ect. But now that Danielle’s here and this is something you’re doing together, I’m really excited to see what yings do with this land and just the future of all that comes. This is it! You’re guys forever place and where the majority of the rest of your life will be. There are so many possibilities and things to build and do and grow. I’m so excited and happy for you all!! Home Depot sells water testing kits u can do yourself if u want to know now until u figure out what u need to do for that. We tested our well water that way, u still obviously want to get someone in there since u have more to do. I’m not sure about land tho, we didn’t do that. You guys are going to build an incredible life. It all started from a raw piece of land & I kno it’ll just keep going from 1 thing to the next, house , sheds, barns, ponds, animals, all the things, & it’ll be never ending, bc there’s always work to be done. I hope you really take in each and every day bc it’s the journey of getting to the goal that means the most, & that’s the fun part, I think. 2022 is the beginning of forever for u guys. 😊🤗( unless u decide to sell and do it all over again. Lol). Best of luck!!
I would do insulation and sheetrock for the closed in room of the barn. Put 1” foam board in stud walls first and then regular fiberglass insulation. It will be better sound proofing and way tighter insulation against those cold days! I did this in a room I added to my farm house and cans guarantee it feels warmer and quieter than any other part of the house. I also put it in the ceiling the same way and I have a metal roof!
@@jimchurchman2628 that was my understanding from watching other UA-cam videos. I would like to eventually turn my detached garage into a guest house/efficiency. Since it and my house are 80+ years old, I keep looking for ideas to help out. Yes, I cans see where your method would be much easier for DIYers than spray foam insulation.
Good morning Jason! Bless you! Yes lumber prices has gone through the roof. Everything has gone up to where us poor people can't even afford to live any more. Jason, I know your local extension office will check your soil for gardens. All I remember is you have to get samples at least six inches deep and seems like you have to take six different samples too. It would be best to call them first to get all the details encase things has changed or I forgot something, which is highly likely. Have a great day! X's &
Hi. I'm so glad to see you guys living your dreams and being happy. I'll be honest, like you. While your content isn't always my cup of tea, I care about you guys as people. And my husband absolutely loves your channel. He does his best not to miss any videos. He has his TV set up with Roku and watches y'all faithfully that way. I'm not sure how many times you're going to have to make the speech to everyone about just being who you are. Why don't ppl get it? Well, I guess they don't have to. UA-cam means it's about YOU, the one making the videos. Duh! I don't need to knock myself out trying to get ppl to change to suit me. If you weren't just the way you are, then YOU wouldn't be YOU and guess what? My husband would have one less channel that he loves to watch. He's severely disabled and he enjoys you guys the way you are. And I got news for ppl. If we suddenly bought a beat up Winnebago and put it on a 1/4 acre with 1 flower pot and a cat and decided to call it Rambling Ranch while we sit there not going anywhere or doing anything, we can dang well do it and not worry about what anyone thinks about it because it's OURS, not theirs. It would be OUR money that bought it, no one else's. So guess what? If it's YOURS, bought with YOUR money, we don't get a vote. You shouldn't have to explain it to us.
Why r u talking about other people they can do what they want and I certainly don't care if u drink their is no need saying anything about other channels they r who they r 2 ok!!!!!!!
Hi Jason, if your not being your real self, your an actor, Just be who you are share what you want we are here you come along for the ride . And I appreciate you letting us see who you really are ! Stay safe and HAPPY !! 🇨🇦 Craig
Have you done a PERC test? I would definitely test by the tank and near where you are building your forever home.Soil testing is always a great idea...they will tell you if you need to amend your soul for your garden. It is a ranch for sure!! Lots of love and encouragement. Nancy
To test a soil go to county extension office. They will tell you how to collect the samples and give you containers to put it in. I think testing is free. There is also a state service for water testing. Your well driller will take samples as he drills your well. You can do a lagoon or septic system which means a percolating test will be done to be sure the leach field drains appropriately. There are water systems you can buy to clean up your drinking water. I've had a kinetico system that I bought at Ernies in Ceresco, NE. I really liked it. It's expensive to buy and the filters need to be changed about 3 times a year or the first year because of new well.
I will give some advice on that wall you built. you need a gutter over the top of it because water will run down the wall there because you dont have a good overhang from roof. I just think it will really give that way more wear than it should and might leak
Dude, you are a class act!!!! Love your videos. Your honesty and integrity are spot on with me!!!! You are killin it bro!!!! Can’t get enough of your builds. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
You know Jason what I love about the Crokers is that y'all are just real people. You do what you want and how you want to do it. I love the realness and simplicity of everything you guys do. Most of us not rich people learn to do things for ourselves the best way we can. Sure, it's not the so-called right way but it works, and we move on to the next project. We aren't in debt paying someone else to do it for us their way. It's nice to finish a project and look back at it and say, man that looks good and I or we did it. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. God Bless You All.
I mean, a homestead is a self sustainable home or property... A ranch is raising large amounts of cattle, horses, with cowboys. A farm grows large amount of crops... I don't know, I have always looked at what you do as construction really.... I am not a wussy, or my husband, and no other homesteader I know is either. It takes guts and hard work to provide for yourself, and protect your food, animals, & property!!! We will be covering building, 2a, growing, animals, protection, hunting, etc!
Your local County Ag Extension will help you with soil quality, perc testing. Getting a septic and water system will probably require a permit from your your local county office. It can get pricey but in the long run it's for the best.
To test water and soil, put in mason jars and label the location of the pull site, test upstream, midstream and downstream.. contact your local college and they can test it,they may even send a small team of students to come out and do it for you,and they'll gps ping the pull sites and label they're own containers
Love what your doing Jason,Your keeping things real and not fake.I do watch a lot of homesteaders and it does get boring at times.I love the way you three all think.Life passing by so fast so make your dreams come true while your young.Love to all and God Bless
Jason the best thing a new property owner can do is keep a record book of purchased , projects and an album. It pays later especially in memories , tax deductions, and for remodeling, repairs, and sale
I love the wall, And I would go with the cheapest Material. I would think that it's not how bad material is but how well you utilize the material. I am so proud of you guys and what you are trying to accomplish. Keep up the good work You guys. Have a blessed day today.
I had to go to my local water company when my well got contaminated from an oil spill , soil testing I think the local agriculture dept could help you . But each state maybe different , I’m in Illinois. I’m right between a lead contamination and oil contamination area, ( about two miles either direction . We had MTBE in our water SU2000😢😢😢 We all want you safe ! Oh and I grew up two miles from an army ammunition’s plant that put tnt into the ground , my parents both worked there . I can’t win ..lol You’ve never offended me ! I enjoy learning and this granny is tough, I’ve seen and heard a lot . Always be yourselves !
The Agricultural Extension Office in your State can best advise you on the best & accurate way to take water & soil samples to make sure they are not contaminated. With oil rigs on the property, & a tank that once stored something unknown to you, it could be vitally important to your health to obtain these samples & test for chemicals.
Deeply appreciate y'all keeping things real. I didn't subscribe to see/hear some smoothed over act. Total admiration for the reality ... all the ups and downs .... real life! Blessings!
Try your local county extension office, they will sometimes test water or tell you who will. Never had soil tested except for lime so can’t help you there. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
Call your County Extension office they'll guide you on what, where and how to do it correctly. Also Corp of Engineers might help with the testing and pond building and the perk testing of the area. It's worth the checking out.
Homesteading and ranch life are basically the same, just using different name usage. Both show how to build their home sites, how to grow food or raise animals.
I am addicted to google so I googled water testing in Oklahoma, it seems you can actually have your water tested for free but you need to go to the web sites and put your zip code in. In NJ we have to take our water to a lab for testing unless we hire an outside lab or buy a test kit to do it ourselves. Also, think the color you chose to stain the wood was a fantastic design choice because it actually matches the rust in the metal of your building! One last thing, you can always bury the leftover sheet rock to amend your ground. You need to pulverize it, but we just bury it in pieces because it helps with water retention and loosen sup clay soil.
Y’all are doing great! Take your time, and don’t rush things. Don’t settle! No dang Sheetrock !!😂😂 You guys remind us of how we once were, and we like watching “go getters”! I didn’t get into UA-cam till cancer slowed me down. I was always outdoors into something. I remember the first channel I watched was a guy building a cabin, and next video it led to was this dude clearing, and setting up a tent. Been watching you ever since. I have always been a “don’t talk about it...be about it” type person, and you guys always back it up on what you say you’re going to do. I’ve been into construction all my life. Been a Painter for over 30yrs,and done a few remodels. Over the years I have learned just about every trade. That’s why I watch you is the fact that you try to do everything as well. Y’all keep up the good work, and hit me up about the Jeep.
I appreciate ALL of you Crockers. I faithfully watch all of your videos. I love it. I hope to be able to meet you guys soon. Would also love to give a hand if I could 🤠
Take samples of the soil send to O U, they should have an agriculture department. There should also be a local soil conservation department, check under local government. Water quality testing is also done by the local water departments check where your local utility gets their testing done. Find a phone book and look up local or state services.
Tractor supply usually has tests or they will know where or any farm supply store. Check the tank from where you are sitting there is a pipe coming down check that out down into ground. Wishing we you in all the best. Wish we were younger and in better health.
You and Danielle Rock buddy . I heard 4 ever home? You two are made for each other. I see you two work well together. Glad to see you both happy. God has blessed you man. You are only responsible for your own lives and lifestyle. If others don't like it, that's on them. I wish you well and am excited to watch your progress on this property.
I agree that the water and soil should be tested. Testing will also help for growing a garden. You may need to add minerals to amend the soil. I love watching you and your whole family.Be careful out there and I look forward to the next installment of "Crocker Ranch!" Love you guys. Blessings
I'm new to your channel ya said you guys wanted to know who is new so I'm new , seen some of your vids but I wasn't subscribed so I figured I would sub your new ranch videos got me hooked love what you guys are doing so far at the ranch keep up the good work
I did notice while you were building that front and staining it that the color matched the dirt on the ground. You could save some of the dirt you level out to be used as flower beds in front of there.
Glad to hear your testing the soil & water, although, when you bought the property, anything hazardous should have been disclosed. But that aside, so happy for you guys. I do watch some homestead channels, I also quilt, so I watch sewing/fabric channels, I also watch the Crockers channels. I take & learn something from all the channels. I would not presume to judge anyone. I think that there is something to be had from all of them. I like what you do on your channel and enjoy watching you. I think you should be proud of what you've done, I'm proud for you. I wish I was younger, I would be out there forging my way also. LOL Can't wait to see what is next. Take Care.

Yes they are wonderful in helping County Extension free Advice
Bless you! That sneeze makes me laugh every time I watch it.
God Bless
Usually your county will have a dept that tests your soil. Good luck with everything!
Keep keeping it real! That’s why we love y’all.
Awesome that you are going to test the soil and water. This is going to be a lovely ranch. I look forward to the build.
Check with the County Extension office they should have free or low cost testing for those kinds of things. Your county extension agent can be a very valuable resource for all kinds of things. Worth taking the time to talk to them. God bless
Yes, County Extension office. Great people to get to know for the future, too. You two seem to be making really smart decisions.
Valerie in SC
As soon as a chanell starts with this is organic or this is grass raised, I am out of there. I am 73 years old and was raised on a real ranch of over 20,000 acres and we always had to suppliment the feed in the winter. We hunted and most of what we ate at home was wild meat not beef. :)
Wow. My brain can’t even comprehend 20k acres 😲. That’s a lot of land!!!
Loving the ShootDang Ranch!! Make it rustic but modern!!
He should have insulted under the floor too.
@@bubbleone6526 it might have been a time crunch and money issue.
Is that better than spray foam insulation? Just asking as I want to convert my detached garage one day?
@@maryellencook9528 no, all foam would be better but this is noticeably better than just fiberglass and you can do it yourself.
Love the progress on the new property! TEAMWORK!
Definitely not the same when your soulmate is not with ya. Love you guys! Y'all have a great day!
Why would we want 2 no how much u spend it is not our money!!!!!!
Why r u talking about other people they can do what they want and I certainly don't care if u drink their is no need saying anything about other channels they r who they r 2 ok!!!!!!!
@@patrobinson7287 Um, ok...
@@alglen9208 God bless you and yours as well 🙂

God is good . God is good all the time. Keeping it real brother Jason
I will give some advice on that wall you built. you need a gutter over the top of it because water will run down the wall there because you dont have a good overhang from roof. I just think it will really give that way more wear than it should and might leak
Looks Good!! All Jason is all lonely with out Danielle and little Bubba. Lol!! Can't wait to see whats next.
Jason go to your Coop for soil testing and your local agriculture office for water testing. Or you can buy on Amazon water testing kits.
That's right Jason keep it real. I'm always watch you guys.
Shootdang Jason always be yourself. Glad you testing thing out there . I miss Danielle too . Live you guys
Total admiration for the reality ... all the ups and downs .... real life! Blessings!
I’m so happy to see you get back to what you are really good at, and that’s building. The 3 of you will make this an awesome place to live and work.
I love all your videos. Don’t Chang anything. Hater’s will always have negative comments.
Ranchers are also Homesteader too. That how the farms and the Rancher's begin their lives.
Good morning Jason! Great to follow along! Love the update.
Have a wonderful day 🌞 🙏💜
You did an amazing job with the built in. I can't wait to see what you guys do as time goes on.
Homesteading and ranch life are basically the same, just using different name usage. Both show how to build their home sites, how to grow food or raise animals.
Glad you are testing water and soil. Is very important! Can't wait to see the animals and the improvements coming 💞⛄
Hello Jason, so glad your getting the water and soil tested. I look for your videos everyday. Really enjoying your new journey. Much love to y'all.
My sister and brother in law bought a farm years ago. They called it a ranch. I get it.
It's worth the time and money to have your extension guy come out and do a survey/test of your land and the water in the creeks, etc.
You and Danielle are so sweet together. What ever it takes i know you'll do......hugs
P.S. Please Secure your livestock at night. Find a way. Otherwise they are going to be bait for wild life. Keep it Real.
Thanks for sharing!!
Good morning Jason. I know you miss having Danielle with you. You guys work great together. Don't work too hard. Stay safe.
Good morning, Jason ! There's no better way to do it !! Be yourself and everything will be just fine !
I just got the same blessing. My girl is driven by heart and soul just like me. I will be there on your. next adventure to cheer you all along.
Good morning Jason ! Have fun today adding improvements to your Shootdang Ranch today !
You are only responsible for your own lives and lifestyle. If others don't like it, that's on them. I wish you well and am excited to watch your progress on this property.
It makes a refreshing change to see people being themselves. Stay true guys 🙂
Morning. Yes water testing is important . The wood turned out a really great colour. Stay safe enjoy the journey. ❤️🇦🇺👍
Bless you
I agree that the water and soil should be tested. Testing will also help for growing a garden. You may need to add minerals to amend the soil. I love watching you and your whole family.Be careful out there and I look forward to the next installment of "Crocker Ranch!" Love you guys. Blessings
I'm looking forward to seeing some animals on the land.I think they will be a great addition for your New Shootdang Ranch. 😊👍💖🐐🐓🐔🐕🐃🐎🦆🐈🙋♀️🦃
It looks fabulous. I love it when youtubers are real. Xx
I'm new to your channel ya said you guys wanted to know who is new so I'm new , seen some of your vids but I wasn't subscribed so I figured I would sub your new ranch videos got me hooked love what you guys are doing so far at the ranch keep up the good work
Great choice
Be well be safe Jason and crew
You can bring a sample to some universities . They may have a soil and water lab. To test forage and water for livestock.
I did notice while you were building that front and staining it that the color matched the dirt on the ground. You could save some of the dirt you level out to be used as flower beds in front of there.
Matches rust on building too. Lol
I love your channels. Do not change
I think honesty is important Jason, more people should be Man,we appreciate it to,I think we long as the Creek is flowing it should be fine brother
excited to see what shootdang ranch will become dude
Take Care.
