- Bo looks dismayed as Jon Russell goes to claim his prize and gives Cassie a big kiss. Asa and Clint wonder where their respective spouses have got to. Renee thinks Carlo stood her up. Meanwhile Viki is distracted by the fireworks and doesn’t hear the pistol go off just feet away from her. Julia is in shock when she realizes she’s shot DuAnn. As DuAnn lies lifeless on the floor, Julia doesn’t know what to do. Joey tells Viki he saw Renee back at the house, so they head up there, never bothering to open the stable door. Julia leaves shortly after, leaving DuAnn behind. Kevin continues to hound Stephanie to tell him her name. Max promises LeeAnn he’ll talk to her mother for her, and he’ll try to convince her not to make LeeAnn leave. LeeAnn says she’ll talk to her mother on her own behalf. Max kisses her. Julia tearfully tells Carlo everything that happened. Julia wants to go to the police, but Carlo says there’s no witness to the fact that it was an accident. After finding a note in DuAnn’s purse to meet her in the stables, Carlo has an idea to ensure Julia is clear of any involvement. Alex shows up to the party and tries to figure out what Jon and Cassie’s relationship is. While Asa gives his speech on the patio (including shooting off a round from his grandfather’s Winchester rifle), Carlo sneaks into the stables, verifies DuAnn is dead, and returns her purse. He also leaves the gun on the ground near the door. At the main house, Julia “finds” DuAnn’s letter on the ground and gives it to Nigel to deliver to Asa. Nigel finds Renee first, and she intercepts the note and rushes off to the stables to try and stop whatever DuAnn’s next move is.
Julia has second thoughts and considers calling the police and confessing that it was an accident. Carlo reminds her that she had motive to want DuAnn dead-her grandson stands to lose his Buchanan inheritance, after all, if DuAnn spoke up. Renee gets to the stables and picks up the gun from the floor. Only then does she spot DuAnn’s body on the ground. Renee runs for help, leaving the gun and the note behind. Stephanie spots her leaving the stables in a hurry. Alex asks the band to play one more song, then she asks Bo to dance with her, to La Vie En Rose. Renee gets back to the house and tells Tina that DuAnn is dead. Tina says she’ll call the police. Renee says she’ll go tell LeeAnn, but before either of them can move, the doorbell rings. Rafe and two officers are at the door, and Rafe explains the squad car pulled in right behind him as he was about to leave. One of the officers explains they came to investigate because they got a report of a gunshot.
I love seeing Tina in a role where she's supporting someone else who needs help. In the past she's always been so focused on herself and her own problems that she could never have provided anyone the kind of emotional support that she's giving Renee now. So, kudos to Tina!!
To be fair, I think Tina did make a more honest effort to change after she married Cord a second time.
Tina supported Viki when Viki found out Christine Cromwell really wasn't her daughter after all. She and Cord offered emotional support to each other and to Viki and the others when they were all trapped down in Eterna.
Unfortunately, Tina's finding out about the baby switch between Garrick Grande and Steven Holden McGillis ended up completely underminding her efforts to turn over a new leaf. Gabrielle blackmailed her, and once the truth came out that Tina knew about the switch and said nothing about it, it turned everyone against her. Hell, Gabrielle was forgiven more quickly than Tina was, despite the fact that it was Gabby who did the switching.
Renee never passed judgment on Tina, and Tina is grateful for that and wants to return the favor and be there for Renee.

I think Carlo should be with Julia.
You know you're invested in a character when they don't even have to say anything but you could read their mind. Julia is weeping that she just killed someone. And Carlo's probably thinking "yeah ... What's the big deal?"
DuAnn was an evil person but the woman who played her was fantastic!
Totally- you don't have "older" powerhouses like that on daytime anymore- and the writing for DuAnn was superb!
I am convinced after binge-watching these that she could work a cane like no other!!.... And I loved when someone would tell her off and she would spit about how high and mighty they were

Carlo is so seductive like a cobra but julia ahould have told the truth. Telling the truth early is better than later plus renee & tina can back up duann being crazy

DuAnn is history. Julia should have just told everyone that DuAnn threatened her with the gun and it was self-defense. She wouldn't have to mention the letter at all.
Were the writers toying with hooking Jon up with Cassie again? He doesn't seem to click very well with this Cassie. He needs to move on from all the Cramer women. I think at the moment Cassie probably would have been better off being single at this point.
Alex continues to pursue Bo, and he continues to be a sap where she's concerned.
Big mistake, Renee, picking up that gun. Will Rafe end up having to arrest yet another member of his family?
The Medina women weren't known for making good decisions.
I'm not sure who really does click with this Cassie. She and Andrew Carpenter were a total drag.

Re-watching this after all of these years, I realize I just cannot stand Carlo. Such a poor excuse for a “villain.”
Can anyone explain this to me? If Julia couldn't remember the fact that she had this motive regarding Al, what the heck was she hanging around with Carlo for in the first place? Was she hobknobbing with him just because she somehow liked him now?

I could have sworn he did enter the party in one of the episodes. Not sure. But they keep referring to him like he's somewhere, but we can't see him
funny how 3 years later Alex marries Bo's father...seems like the two of them were always swapping women!
And in the early 2000's, Asa would marry Gabrielle, and after they divorce, Bo would end up dating her!
Where is Cord?
They're treating him like they treat nannies and children. They keep referring to the fact that he's at the party, yet we can't see him, LOL
