Yeah it was pretty cool to use the scope in that way because it honestly made spotting the shots so much easier than even looking through the scope itself.
Nice video, John. IMO, this should be allowed in competition on spotting scopes and even rifle scopes (boy am I gonna hear grief on this I bet - lol). F Class was created for people who couldn't see iron sights very well, so this would only further that mission of allowing people as they get older to see better with less eye strain (not to mention the headaches of using prescription glasses with scopes). My two cents. I am likely going to buy one just to have at the club when I practice or help when others are shooting.
It’s funny because I thought about this too but the reality is that while paying prone it’s probably faster to use the eyepiece versus a screen but I totally get what you’re saying. Sadly at this point the system doesn’t work with a rifle scope but it’s possible with a simple adapter it could. There’s definitely some fun stuff that could be done with this for scoring or watching.
Really looks nice. I'd like to see a more thorough demo of exactly how to mount it. Do we need to remove the rubber eyepiece cup before mounting it? I'm needing this for the Celestron 20x60/80 spotting scope. Now I'm trying out the Celestron nexyz which has 3way phone adjustment and Bluetooth. Thank you
I shoot and film matches, litterally the day after I got home I found this company. They also make an adapter to fit Canon Ef lenses, so you could attach a camera directly as well. I'd be interested in a side by side comparison of how different the quality would be. Phones on cameras have come a long way, I just wonder if the juice would be worth the squeeze getting it to fit just a camera or to fit any phone. When I get one, id love to compare or if you're interested to see the quality difference yourself. I need to do a YT channel with all the footage and crap I have.
Because you're recording straight to your phone the resolution is so much better than the Longshot. I don't know if there's any updated version since I last used the Longshot but it definitely had some pixelation in it which won't happen with this. But it's also two different designs. The Longshot let's you put the camera in one place and view from another (within limits).
@@addisonmohler1 Good to hear I may invest in one of these. I’ve got a tacticam and it works okay but the screeen isn’t nearly as nice as the iPhone. I have an old iPhone 8 laying around and this may come in handy.
That's a Kowa 883 with the 25xLER eyepiece. I use a simple tripod setup seen here ua-cam.com/video/tIfF1iRd3s0/v-deo.html and I also have a full size RayVin setup but I rarely use that anymore.
It fits anything that is 39mm to 60.75mm so 1.5 inches to 2.4. It will fit on my 10x42 binos just find but I'm sure there are smaller ones with less than a 39mm lens that it will not fit.
That shot in between the number boards at the end was awesome! You can see the bullet trace and even a flash!

That's just to KOOL, I will have to acquire one of them. Thanks for the INFO. Great video Sir.👍👍👍👍👍👀😎
This is awesome, this is exactly what I need. Thank you
I’m glad it helps. Thank you.
I have tried a few of them the novagrade (it’s not cheap) but works Amaxing and can swap just to viewing glass without phone FAST
Great. Thank you.

Awesome
Can I ask what you use to edit your videos and do the video within the video with?
I use iMovie.
@@FClassJohn do you edit on your computer then?
@@andy347495 yes
I would like a video on the rodzilla mirage kit if possible
You mean the mirage band he sells? I do t use that one but we all use one so I can happily do a video on the subject.
Maybe the TRIGGERCAM will fit on your spotting scope?
I don't use the Triggercam anymore. I liked it but it wouldn't fit larger eyepiece scopes and definitely won't fit on spotting scope eyepieces.
I believe the 2.1 version has a bigger scope follower to fit the larger scopes, would probably still not fit an spotting scope.
@@jean-jacquesvanzyl1921 That's good to know. Thank you.
What tripod setup is that? Looking to create the same complete rig your running

@@FClassJohn I’m disappointed in Longshot. Thanks for the answer,,,I’m a FAN of yours….don’t tell Eric
Will this work if you leave your phone in an OtterBox? Personally I don’t like taking my phone out of an OtterBox for obvious reasons
That’s a great question. It’s possible but I’m not sure. I would reach out to Reloading International and ask them.
@@FClassJohn thanks I’ll do that
Yes. My phone is in an Otterbox and it fits in there just fine. This thing is wildly adjustable and built really well.

Do you think it would work on binos as well?
I don’t know but I can give it a try later today and let you know. I have a feeling the eyepiece is too small to work properly but it’s worth a try.

What spotting scope and eye piece is it?
It’s a Kowa 883 with the 25xLER eyepiece.
Which is this spotting scope??
This is a Kowa 663 but I believe it's been replaced with this one amzn.to/3Thhk5D
