if you mean the ones at the very bottom, they are a connector for charging docks (where you can charge/update muliple calculators at the same time). If you look closely on the back cover lying next to it at 4:07 you can see the spring, which pushes down a protective cover over the contacts
Hey so I have a CX II which has essentially the same layout as the one you are working on and the front plastic part is cracked. The screen itself is fine but the thing you peeled off at 1:55 is cracked and I've been trying to find a way to get it repaired or replaced. Do you know where i could get a replacement or a place i could send it to get it fixed because it seems pretty easy to replace it myself but i cant find a replacement online.
About two years ago I accidentally dropped a cup of coffee (witn mik) in my desk...unfortunately my loved IT was in the middle of it, I tried to "save it" be using paper towels,( I heard to not use a hair drier since it can spread the liquid worse) , put it in a bag of rice, several silica bags I had lying around from shoe boxes for at least a week, but the touch button got a "smushee" feel and the touch feature stopped working, more important I just could not trust that my calculator will work again as good as new...I eventually bought a new one and I have had the old one on my desk collecting dust. Today I saw this video and since I had nothing to loose I just went for it and opened it. I used a lighter since I don't have a heat gun lol, but that is a very strong adhesive they use! Now that I see it closely, the flex cable for the touch button is rust with a greenish-black substance...I guess two years of spoiled milk do that. Thanks for the video and well I learned a lot of things for the future. PS. Since then I never leave any drinks on my desk anymore.
Thanks for video... one of my CX CAS calcs just died during charging. Backside heatsup but does not power-on at all (slight screen flash during plugging-in of the USB wire or battery insertion). Does boot-up for 10-15 seconds if I freeze the calc (literally in the freezer). I'm assuming one of the components there is creating too much resistance and needs to be replaced. Have you encountered any similar cases? Do you have a schematic for any of the CX CAS versions?
Id like to replace the original charging port with a normal mini USB port. Or is there are particular reason (like different voltage perhaps) that prevents me from doing it?
i dont think so but you will need to find the correct pinout as the ti usb is upside down (if i remember correctly) Which makes it harder to find the correct usb jack for it
Water got in Nspire CX this morning and it wont turn on 😭😭 currently trying to get the screen off, do you know how long i have to take it apart and let dry before the damn things on the inside corrode?
I have same model as you do, my keyboard does not respond when pressing and sometimes when I press one key, a completely different key appears on the screen , not all of them just a few wont work, what should i do? everything else besides keyboard works just fine
Hey this is the hardware revision I have! So that's why I couldn't manage to open it...
not a fun one to tear apart
What are the golden pins on the bottom at 4:07 for? Can't find any information about that online. Maybe someone can help!

finding spares is very difficult for these, so i don't think there will be any available to purchase
@@rickstechrepairs alright thanks do you think there’s anyone I could send it to to get it fixed or is it the same sort of deal.
i don't know where you live , it can buy in china , about 60rmb (10 dollor),but olny white noncas model,

is there a way to clean the keyboard? my keyboard is super sticky, the keys won't pop out after you press them
not really, due to the plastic membrane under the keys, would to open and remove that and wash with soapy water
@@rickstechrepairs i spilled redbull and my +,3,6,9 keys are all super sticky. I have my final physics exam on wednesday, im doomed

Hi, no sorry I haven't encountered this problem, nor do I have schematics sorry
i have exactly the same problem with my nspire cx.....
me too , it hard to fix it , i finally give it up , then I bought a secondhand cxii with a defective screen and planned to replace its screen
thanks for the upload - great info - is there any chance of converting that charge port?
possible but would be charge only
cut my finger real deep because I was trying to remove the adhesive with a razor blade(don't have a heating mat)
ouch!!

i would usually wait 24-48 hours
My screen cracked, do you think I would somehow put another of my own? I couldnt find any near my area or aliexpress
if you havent worked on these devices before i wouldnt recommend it

this has just happened to me, have you found a solution?
@@zoel5595 nope
Would you know where I could by a screen replacement for one of these? Tried getting one on Taobao but wouldn't ship to the states
No sorry
@@rickstechrepairs All good, great video!
Looks like TI is becoming like Apple and their products. Harder to open and repair...
pretty much..
the own the school sales, so why change or make it easy to repair
@@rickstechrepairs I just watched someone put an esp32 inside their TI 84, this is technically prevents cheating by making opening these harder
My damn screen has fallen off since I’ve gotten it I’m hoping to find how to make it solid
B7000 Frame adhesive would be the way to go
@@rickstechrepairs thanks!
