Highlights of the Men's Canoe Double 1000m in which Poland won Gold during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
In 1924 in Paris, flatwater canoeing featured at the Games as a demonstration sport. Canoe and kayak racing became full medal sports at the 1936 Berlin Games. However events were initially limited to canoe sprint until canoe slalom made its debut at the 1972 Munich Games. Slalom racing was not competed again in the Olympic Games until the 1992 Barcelona Games.

The playing arms of pro tennis players are often far larger than the non playing arm.
i have done this at a high level for years. canoer's get lopsided, kayakers get pencil legs
i practice this sport and ww dont switch sides because is like when u try to play tennis with ur none main hand, so what we do is balance our back in the gym (best english ever :)

Sprint canoe is a lot harder Than you think
I’m quite confident u won’t be able to balance on a sprint canoe OR sprint kayak. They’re not more than a foot at the widest point. I’m actually not kidding.

They’re kneeling not standing. Also, a row boat is longer and shallower, these boats are shorter and deeper. Also, the obvious difference is that a row boat uses 2 oars (long ones) whilst these sprint canoeists use a single bladed paddle

It is! A canoe is defined as a light narrow boat powered by a paddle. This is called a Canadian sprint canoe, or a C1 ,they’re kneeling down in it

yeah, there’re other races such as 200m or 500m. But even the 5000, 16.000, 20.000 and more.
Some time ago they would even do the 41.000 km

This is pointless, what situation in the world does having the ability to row a tiny canoe that can't hold fishing gear have? It looks so goofy too. Not even entertaining. I get sports like sharp shooting, wrestling, gymnastics. They would make exceptional warriors which is what The Olympics was all about. I can understand ice skating, snowboarding, because it's cool to watch, but sports like this one and the one where you brush the ground like a mexican nanny while leading a slow moving block of cheese.. they look like special needs people, just like these guys.
You’re probably one of those people who doesn’t get the meaning of sport.
First of all, sport aren’t made so as to create “warriors” as you say. So you’re basically saying that football helps you with the daily life of a warrior?? You think that wrestlig could make someone survive in the wild? That’s literally a complete different thing we’re are talking about.
Sport, however, is something that teach you discipline and build physical and mental strength.
Canoe in this case, is one of the most difficult sports. You work with basically all part of your body (included the legs). If you think that is goofy, then try to get inside one of these canoes, and see by yourself who’s the goofy here.
+ it’s a lot entertaining than football or whatever long ahh sport
