Tony, thank you very much for the very informative video about the Evora.
After 28 years with an Esprit Turbo SE a couple of weeks ago I traded her in and purchased the last available new Evora in the Netherlands......it is an GT 410 Sport IPS.
I am very happy with this Evora and your video was a nice help to understand the car better.
Looking forward and good luck with your next video's.
    Regards, Ruud from th Netherlands

Hi Ruud, I am happy that my videos helped you in some way! That's a long history with an Esprit, it must have been sad to say goodbye. I hope you enjoy your Evora, it is a great car.
Not sure where you are in the Netherlands but I used to provide Technical support to Van Der Kooi our dealer in Houten. Jan and the guys there are very good.
Thanks again and keep watching! Tony

Nice to see such a deep dive into the Evora. I think Lotus repeated its launch edition mistake with the introduction of the GT. Most press cars were loaded and listed around $130,000. At that price the GT is hard to justify which most reviewers noted. It seems pretty clear that Geely has invested little into the Evora and saved its money for the new platform in the upcoming Emira which places the Evora in an interesting position. Pricing on the Emira is not known. However, there are some indication that it might be somewhat aggressively priced. It will be very interesting to see where Lotus prices the Emira versus the outgoing Evora.

Hi Claude, Thanks for your comment. One thing Lotus are good at making is the same mistakes! I think the Emira will be interesting as you say!

@@lotuscarguru3656 The Emira makes for difficult decisions for anyone contemplating Evora ownership. On the plus side, the Evora is a known quantity and is a mature design. The strengths and faults are well documented. On the minus side. The Emira with Geely money could be a significant upgrade to the Evora. One major appeal of the Evora is that it might be one of the last great analogue cars. As the Emira will initially have a ICE and a manual (at least with 6 cylinder option), that honor might go to the Emira. I also wonder how much support there will be for older cars like the Evora. Personally, I’m in wait and see mode.

Well picked up the car and apart from no rear working sub, no brake lights (and no warning light that you have no brake lights) and now no A/C the car was very cool to drive but now undrivable in Florida as I have no AC.
I know you were not part of the design team but it never ceases to amaze me why car designers place items that are user changeable and usually the first place to look when you have an electrical issue in totally inaccessible places.
Case in point my AC compressor... the first place to look is the fuse block only to find fuse number R11(AC compressor) is total inaccessible in that rear fuse block unless you remove back seats and rear 1/4 trim panels, which for a tech is no big deal but a novice that does not want to break unknown clips it is a problem.
Would it have been that difficult to place them up front with the rest of the accessible fuses?

Thank you Lotus Car Guru for sharing your wealth of experience and stories of your time with Lotus! I have a question that I've been curious about, and I think I've finally found a person that can answer! On the Evora, there are a few parts, for example the ventilation panel between the roof panel and the rear hatch/glass, that have a different part number (and significantly different price) depending on if it's for a 'hot climate' or not. What is the difference between the construction of those parts? Would it be worth the extra amount to fit a 'hot climate' ventilation panel in North America for example as the original part has been known to crack in some? Would it be a stronger part? Thanks!

    • @lotuscarguru3656
      @lotuscarguru3656  3 роки тому

Hi William, Firstly thank you for your kind comments! The hot climate panel is carbon fibre hence the higher price. These were originally made for the Middle East market. If yours is ok, I’d stick with it but if you want a carbon fibre one then it’s your choice. Depends where you are in the States I guess. Thanks for watching. 👍🇺🇸

A new subscriber here!. Thinking about to buying a "standard" Evora NA, but I heard many times that is much better the Evora S...but with my budget, I can only afford the Evora NA (or a Lotus Elise S3). Whats your oppinion? Thanks!

      Hi there!
      Thanks for subscribing, N/A versus a S/C.
Well the S/C has more grunt obviously but the N/A is still a nice car. Depends what you are really looking for. The Evora is more usable over the Elise and can be an everyday car. Like I say, depends what you are looking for.

Sorry mate another question I recently found out my brake lights had failed I traced the issue to a blown fuse, luckily in the front fuse block (well done Lotus)
I also decided to switch the OEM ones for a set of aftermarket V3's and looking at the OEM units there is a white wire and the sticker on the light reads "White D1- Failure" what does this wire connected to?

In your opinion do you think it’s worth getting the certificate of provenance? Really all I’m interested in would be the build sheet and statistics about production and option numbers. I know I have 1 of 259 GT for MY2020 but how many Exige orange manuals with the carbon fiber pack were made etc.
Loving this car quite frankly. Thank you for discussing the design philosophy behind it.

Hi, does anyone know what the Lotus type number was for the Sport 410? Some people say it was 122, others say 123. Did it have different type numbers depending on whether it was a UK or federal spec car? Thanks

    • @lotuscarguru3656
      @lotuscarguru3656  2 роки тому

      HI James,
Lotus dropped the type number on Evora from the VIN from 2010 Model Year and went to letter identifiers for all models.
The 400 series used the letter code MD from start of production and Evora from 2010 M.Y. serial no. 0360 onwards.
As a type the Evora is still regarded as a type 122, all models.
If you want to email me your VIN I'll decipher it all for you.
      Cheers
      Tony

Hi Tony. I brought my Evora over 5 years ago now from Bell and Colvill. It is one of the first IPS cars, so much so that Lotus owned it for the first 5 years of it life. It's a N/A car but it came with the S wheels and S exhaust. I did get a certificate of provenance to see what sort of life it had before I owned it but they just told me it was a one off in its current spec being starlight black, paprika leather and a IPS.
I was just curious if you knew anything of my car and had any knowledge of what testing was done with the car. I appreciate Lotus used to have many test cars but I've had a couple of trips to the factory since I've owned it and it was recognised a gentleman who used to work at Lotus (now with McLaren) and the guys in the security box..😆.
If you did have any knowledge of my car it would be greatly received as I'm Lotus mad(the Evora is my 9th Lotus)but if you don't recognize the car, not to worry, Im looking forward to watching all your videos in the future.....😁
    Thanks..
    Steve
