DriveTribe Podcast: I chat to James May about planes, motorbikes, bicycles, boats & curries

- Fill your ears with this - I'm joined by DriveTribe founder James May for an hour of chat about flying, boating, driving, riding and everything else May's been up to in lockdown.
Find out how many miles May's done in his Ferrari in the past year, and what vehicle he's assembled in his lockdown spare time. He also chats about the beauty of flying yourself around to country to sample chicken and mushroom pies. It's a good one. Enjoy.

@@Neo.555 It is :) Just search for DriveTribe Podcast and listen away!
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff gotcha, thank you ❤️
This is James May's dream, he gets to talk about the war, planes, Britain, and technicalities. It's brilliant.
Oh thanks for that don't need to listen now!
Definitely one of the best James May interviews/podcasts I've heard, nice one Tim! It's actually rare that someone that knows James AND is nerdy on similar topics besides Cars/TG/TGT, then focuses on those unrelated topics which makes it much more entertaining than most other conversations/interviews... This was a great combination👍
Fantastic mention of Eric 'Winkle' Brown. I recommend everyone to read his book
Thanks - absolutely agree
The best James May podcast thus far.
Should've been titled "An hour of adverts interspersed with a bit of James May".
Just got to absolutely love James May
Them's the rules
The major costs with boats are mooring costs.
'Bing' maps are used as they have the ordinate survey which google don't.
There need to be more of these podcasts with James.
I really hope that all 3 of them will do some podcasts
thanks tim, the discussion was absolutely fantastic!
Love this channel, hidden gem! Thanks Tim
Thanks Luca!
Enjoyed that Tim - always wanted to hear James' talk about his flying (I once saw him at White Waltham where I fly from) and his bikes (I'm a bike nut too) - two boxes checked! Thanks for that....
Ah, TMF is here! Hello! Glad you enjoyed it. If you search for Tim Rodie you'll find my two-wheeled channel
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff Found you! Subbed.....!
This was a great interview. Thank you for uploading this and not interrupting him every sentence like some interviewers do. Drives me nuts. Let the man talk XD ... Anyway, thank you man.
I could listen to James talk about flight all day, wonder if he's ever been to oshkosh for EAA air venture its aviation paradise
I flew a Chipmunk for about 35 years - and yes, it's sensitive and handles beautifully. Many aeroplanes have pretty boring handling, such as PA28s and Cessna 150s. But not the Chipmunk. I also had a share in a YAK52 for a few years and that was quite an experience. More warbird that light aeroplane - much more! But I preferred the Chippy for its superbly harmonised handling and its amazing character. And it's a tail dragger.
Cheers for this, always a pleasure to get to hear from James on even the most miscellaneous topics. Great channel too, keep it up!
I'm just started getting into podcasts. I'm looking forward to a new episode!
James living his dream !
Great podcast can’t wait for the tv show to come out
Just saw the post on Drivetribe.
Immediately subscribed.

Nice work Tim so when are you and James going flying, that would be fun to watch lol
Just waiting for the invitation
"Aces Pie" really needs to happen. Perhaps you could get Bruce Dickinson to co-host.
I can only imagine the musical arguments that would ensue
Did you actually get blown up by the TGPD tank!?
James May should be a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. I have no idea why, but I think there will be a hilarious exchange with the Orangutan when the host is consulted for help.
18:57 in aviation, this is known as the “death zone”
You missed the obvious title! Pie in the Sky!
Reach for the pie as well...
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff Indeed! Check your instagram messages by the way! I've sent you something you may be very interested in, my user is comanche.pilot.
anybody else looking for the other James videos where he talks about a lot of assorted topics?
Or a sail (to harvest the power of solar)
Great now I can finally fall asleep
Haha
James May: Pie-lot
That'd be the name of the first episode that we put out to gauge reaction
4 ads in 11 minutes , wow , how to turn someone off watching the wole thing good job
Alright, I didn't choose where they go. Sorry
Topboxes ruin the looks of any motorcycle.
But not everyone rides a bike to look cool
Why only an hour?
He's a busy man! I'll try to get him on again
Tim I would love to have you on a stream, how do I contact you?
Is the podcast on Spotify?
Yes!
Tim is like XTC and James May is weed. Together they are quite pleasant.
I'll take it
(the compliment, not X)
Regarding the peanut butter hatred, maybe he had pbsd, peanut butter stress disorder lol
I'll get my coat!
The thumbnail looked like Karl Pilkington
I've had that so many times. Check out the carwow video reviews from 4 years ago, I used to sit in the back of the cars with Mat Watson to judge interior space. Nearly every video would get a Karl Pilkington comment!
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff There is a resemblance so it doesn't surprise me.
Nice Job 👍 do you know when james cooking book comes out?
I don't, sorry. I presume before Christmas…
I think Amazon said something about November
Adverts all the time ...
what's that opening song?
Some brilliant (awful) bit of music composed by the CEO of DriveTribe!
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff damn thats brilliant (awful)
An audio podcast on UA-cam... - does that really make sense? I would love an RSS feed instead...
It's on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and… everywhere else. We just put this one on UA-cam because it was a bit special :)
First
Luca Colley as if that’s an achievement on a sub 500 subs channel
True, haha. Just my instinct
@@jeroenbrink4710 Be nice
Wonderful eggs and not bad beans
This was fantastic Tim, thank you! Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Brown spoke fluent german so asked the enigneer crews at these german airfields.
Forgot about that! Good fact
Loved the podcast! But seriously; that many ads!!!/ad-breaks!?
Ah let me fix that, this got monetised months after publishing it
