There is a video on UA-cam of Malcolm saying it was their sister-in-law, George’s wife, that suggested the name AC/DC. It may have even come from The Sweet song titled AC/DC because they were big fans of The Sweet. They would never admit that because they had to keep their “Tough Guy” image, but when they were starting out they were into glam bands, especially Sweet, and even dressed glam themselves for a short time.
Wow, I did not see that video. I saw a video where Margaret said it was her sewing machine and another where Angus said it was her sewing machine plus I read it in a couple of books. It is interesting that Malcolm said it was George's wife. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall whenever it happened to really know! Thanks for sharing the info about The Sweet too. 🎸

fave song is 'Thunderstruck'... didn't Bon died by breathing in his own puke while passed out? and i heard that Brian Johnson just answered an ad in the newspaper that was asking for a singer for a rock band, and found out it was ACDC when he got there... loads of stories i guess
Hi Elaine, I LOVE Thunderstruck! I read about the choking on vomit but then there is also a lot that points to drug use so who knows right? SO many versions of stories on all of this and sometimes the band even even contradicts themselves in different interviews. Thanks so much for watching!

It’s a lovely fairytale and comeback story, but there’s no way Brian wrote those great lyrics and then almost immediately dried up from that point on. The Young brothers as well. Back In Black was made up of songs already written with Bon at the helm - as they did with every album before, they already had complete songs written. They only gave Brian credit to make him feel like an equal partner and to make it seem like they could move on and succeed without Bon. But, Bon wrote most, if not all, of those lyrics. Bon was always prepared with his lyrics just as the Youngs were with their music. Everyone from Bon’s friends, certain associates of the band and Bon’s own mother and two brothers have said he was working on lyrics for the Back In Black album. I believe those who were closest to Bon. Even Angus slipped up in several interviews. Also, a couple of the singers who auditioned said they saw the same song titles on the set list that later ended up on Back In Black. Fact is, they never wrote words (or music) anywhere near the same quality ever again after Back In Black.
So, you can bet Bon wrote at least a damn good portion of that album. Hell, even according to the band he was supposed to start laying down his vocal tracks the week he died. Angus said all the music was completed _before_ Bon died. So Bon absolutely had a hand in writing those songs. No doubt about it.
I too have read that most of the music was written by Bon before his death as well as some of the lyrics. Bon sure could turn a word! Such a loss. Thanks so much for watching and sharing this info! 🤘
