Paul, very excellent about your health journey. Both my husband and I were diagnosed with T2 diabetes eight months ago. I walk on the treadmill and use my stationary bike but I don't kill myself on them. I have lost fifty pounds, got off high BP meds and got my A1C from 9 to 4.9. My husband walks a lot for work, and he's lost 200 pounds and got his A1C from 14 to 5.2. we have also changed our diet immensely. We allow carbs to come from our meats, cheeses, fish, veggies and the few condiments we may use. Our heaviest carbs come from a couple pieces of sugar free candy from time to time or some carb smart ice Cream. I found getting in poor physical health was really easy and trying to fix it is much harder but worth it. HE's got us.

Hi Paul, keep up the good work 😁👍❤ You don't need to go to the Gym to exercise and lose weight, just eat in moderation and do plenty of exercise. Your job as a Scrapman is an all round exercise lifting, carrying, climbing up and down on the lift and all the walking around you do with the items you pick up.

Hey my friend, if you were to exercise 3 times a week at a Planet Fitness or other place, you'd be totally transformed! I do 23 machines and 30 minutes on the elliptical machine on Mon, Wed, and Fri. It helps me a whole lot! I have bad neck and back injuries. It helps to maintain muscles to support your injured areas better than not doing it. Your scrapping would be your additional exercise. I'm almost 61 years old and live by myself. If I need to do maintenance around the house, I can do it better because I'm more fit. If I didn't exercise, I'd be in trouble physically. I hope this helps, Paul. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

I’m sorry it has taken so long for me to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your “20 seconds of tranquility” spots.
I have had chronic hypertension for years and years, and I am taking so many medications to try to control it. The problem is, each of them carries a warning - “ May cause drowsiness- do not operate heavy machinery, etc.”
And, not too surprisingly, if you take enough of these like I do, you find yourself dozing in your recliner much of the day.
But it’s still rare that I feel truly relaxed. Your tranquility spots are absolute magic, however! When I’m watching them, I can really feel my BP going down!
Do you think it might be possible for your daughter, who you said is editing the shorts, could string together a lot of the tranquility spots to make a long one?
I truly believe it would benefit my health to just sit and breathe while watching that!
I’ll call it my anti-stroke video!

Don't discount the scrapping exercise. I used to be on my feet 12 hours as an RN in the hospital but making my trips count! I never had foot pain! I think consistency was the key. 10 minutes a day would be fine and walking is the absolute best. I once did a water aerobics class and it really was intense! You're doing fine just keep doing it 😊

Well, you said it, Paul. It’s great having a physical job, but if the breathing and heart rates are increased for a minute due to the refrigerator you’re putting on the lift gate, it’s not the same as 15-30 minutes of sustained cardio. Same for muscle/bone strength. It’s hard getting going, but be disciplined and it will get easier. Poco a poco will get you there.

You are so right. I have a great doctor. He is a holistic doctor but he's not allowed as a VA doctor to be outwardly holistic. He is the one assisting me in my health journey. Not through pharmaceuticals but through nutrition and what to avoid. Minimally processed food. Whole food. I only drink water and coffee now. But we haven't yet discussed the exercise aspect.

Try dropping the lift down 1/8" or so when unloading and things won't catch on the edge of it so much. Hope it helps. Keep up the good work Paul.

Hi Paul,,, I watched you struggle with the stove, getting it out of your truck,,, if you lay it on it's side so that it is not sitting on those 4 little spikey feet,, then you should be able to just slide it right off,, real easy like,, :-)

Hi Paul! Are you still doing keto, I am! I'm feeling pretty good on it! I notice a difference if I add some bread in once in a while. I feel blah after. For exercise I do virtual boxing on a VR, it's so much fun, I do 3 sessions twice a day! I have the oculus quest 2. 🎉🎉❤

Healthcare worker here around your age. All exercise is important and counts. Our bodies either "grow" stronger or "grow" weaker depending upon the demands that we put on them. For me, working out is not just a physical thing, but a spiritual thing as well. The gym can be another place of communing with God. It's another place to be dependent upon Him and to listen and be guided by Him.

I started Scrapping just for the Exercise. I spent most of my life behind computer playing Video games. And I had Reached a massive 430 lbs. A few years ago I found God, Started Scrapping and eating better. I weighed in yesterday morning at 298 lbs. The problem is I have been sitting at that 300 level for about 6 months. I don't think scrapping is a great exercise routine. It was a great start, but you need to get your heart rate up and to be honest most of the time you are scrapping you are driving around looking for scrap. Not really getting your heart rate up.

Great to hear about your progress. I think you're right. Most of the time scrapping I'm sitting in the truck. Honestly my back and hips can hurt from the sheer amount of driving

I'm going to take your suggestion to be me today. I'll be interested to see how it turns out. 😉
I took down a 10' x 12' metal patio gazebo a few days ago. If you're going to be in the neighborhood, stop by and I'll help you load it. If you can't make it, I'll just put it in the mail. Have a good weekend! 🙂

You are talking about health, our grandparents, grandmothers, parents ate sugar, salt, lard and lived to be 90-100 years old. Now suddenly it's unhealthy. Pharmaceutical companies and doctors make a fortune from us by convincing us of their theses Pozdrawiam z Polski

Your job gives you bulky strength in your voluntary muscles, but you need to stretch to avoid injury. Also any type of balancing exercise can improve kinetic awareness and prevent injury from balance issues. Yoga and tai chi can help with that. You also need some cardio.
