What you fail to mention is that the processing plant would have brought jobs to a town where the median income today is 22,768 $. This project, albeit ultimately not realized, had a lot of support IN SIERRA BLANCA, and a leading opponent of this project even had his luberyard burned down, because people saw the waste disposal facilities as a job creator.

Was it good? No. Could you say his primary interest in this was disposing of waste outside of his home state? Sure. But the waste needed to be disposed off, so why not do it where people would profit from the jobs it brought.
As for „voting against migrants & prison reform“ bernie opposed these votes because they didn’t go far enough. His pro immigrant stance has earned him support from Illhan Omar and Aoc, which are both huge activists for immigration, and he’s been a vocal proponent of undoing the racist prison system that exists, and called for radical reform more than once
