Heard a joke once: Invisible Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. Great guy Pagliacci is having a party tonight. That should pick you up.' Invisible Man bursts into tears. Says, 'But doctor...I have no body to go with!"

Skelly is a Utilitarian. He believes that the moral action is that which produces the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people. And the greatest number of people is always himself.

The Invisible Man was written at around the same time and from the same culture as Jekyll and Hyde, and Dorian Gray. It was a good time for stories about a man gaining the power to escape accountability and using it to commit crimes.

    Fascinating as always 🙂
Interesting that Wells, as in War of the Worlds, has created an enemy that is advanced beyond normal humans. His views on imperialism and his invasion literature influences coming through again?

Once upon a time the invisible man was named Rupert Murdoch, who hasn't really contributed anything of value...

It does get indirectly mentioned as one of those films and shows which has an invisible character but literally no other connection to the HG Wells original

Catherine, can I take the opportunity of the subject of invisible man to recommend a channel with an invisible presenter. I think you would enjoy Old Britannia channel. This week the subject fits in with my joke about Warr and Piece Hall, which you liked.
