स्वच्छ भारत अभियान की शुरुआत 2 अक्टूबर 2014 को राजघाट नई दिल्ली में की गई थी। इस अभियान का लक्ष्य भारत को अस्वस्थ और खुले में शौच से मुक्त करना था। स्वच्छ भारत अभियान ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में पेयजल और स्वच्छता मंत्रालय द्वारा संचालित किया जाता है, जबकि शहरी क्षेत्रों में आवास और शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय द्वारा। इस अभियान का उद्देश्य भारत को स्वच्छ रखने के अलावा व्यक्तियों में स्वच्छता और सफाई की भावना पैदा करना भी है।

2-These wastes are recyclable and non-biodegradable.
3-These wastes are recycled and reused.
GREEN DUSTBIN ( Wet wastes)
1-It is used to collect organic and wet wastes.
2-These wastes are recyclable and biodegradable.
3-These wastes are used for composting.
RED DUSTBIN(Metal wastes)
1-It is used to collect biomedical wastes.
2-These wastes are non-recyclable and non-biodegradable.
3-These wastes are incinerated.
Conclusion
Waste segregation plays a major role in waste management. The Government and NGOs play an important role in creating awareness about waste segregation and the slogan of waste management 4 R’s, i.e., Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, Refuse, for proper waste management.
