Violin Maestro, the living legend, he invented the Double Violin, we are blessed with living in his era, such a talented and God gifted person....You are great Sir.. Lakshmi Narayana Shankar Iyer
I recognize the raga of his composition when the tabla maestro comes out; though not by name. Beautiful, Shankar is a gifted writer besides being so amazing on the violin. Thank you all who brought this incredible concert to our ears and hearts. 🕉 🙏
can't stop listening :) I was waiting to see this legend play, not so much content available on UA-cam. @BehalaSanskritikSammilani - thanks for uploading this.
This is simply from some place deep and unfathomable. Listen from about 40m and on (they've been on the same raga - Abheri - since the beginning)... and consider that the piece is in a rhythmic cycle of 9.5 beats. Yikes. Just mind-blowing!
It has been admitted worldwide that L S is a master of the instrument and Indian music. To my ears, some emotive aspect of music is missing. Actually, I find that about many big shots like Sanjay Subramanyan as well. Needless to say, they are great performers and there are several fans world over, for their music.
On the other hand, you actually named two of my most favorite musicians - LS and SS. As a matter of fact, I find the emotive aspect to a very significant extent more than any other musician. Don’t know if you listened to LS’s groundbreaking albums “Raaga Abheri”, “Eternal Light”, “Pancha Nadai Pallavi” and “Who’s to know”. These are studio recordings with stellar audio quality and makes one wonder if LS is really a human being or a Demi God. Same with SS - I have almost all his albums - no flaw anywhere and he has a very deep bass voice and sings with emotion like the yester years great musicians did.
The brothers never immersed into Carnatic music nor finished their training to a level of mastery.. Funny you mention SS, he started his training under LS father.
I agree with Subu... L Shankar is a great musician... Master in the instrument and the techniques.... With all due respect to him, his music and the instrument, something is missing in his music..... The soothing effect is missing, I guess... It is more of a circus.. Thank you. pls consider it as a positive note ... 🙏

Shakti n mahavishnu!
A beautiful music
23:00 when violin becomes a mandolin / guitar
Also amazing is how he uses left pinky to sustain the cadence. Carnatic music needs talam (beats) to create structure
I am a Big Fan...
You are great Tablaist sir
Hi from Londrina, Brazil. Ask John Mclaughlin to play with Shankar next time!

Subu Kaundinya I find incredible depths of emotion every time I listen to L Shankar........

Is that shankar from John McLaughlin,s Shakti ?
Yes , the same genius
@@narendramungur1489 yes your absolutely correct SUPERB !!!
Yep, the same
Amazing! But I dont get why He has that special violin...is the second one in a different tuning?
Yes it has all base strings
See 15:40. He switches to the other bridge for covering cello range
To increase the range
Each neck has five strings and covers several octaves. Listen when he changes, its not there for nothing! Violin, viola and cello range.
Who is playing the ghatam
Is he applying something to his left hand fingers?
perhaps oil so he can slide on the neck more evenly.
peluca amarilla...se ha vuelto sarasa...no me odas tio jaajajajajajajajajajajajajja. sera posible
Wow what a hair style.
it's artificial
