They probably own the real time twister and he sends it in to get graded then opens it and resells with a fake card, then resends the real card to PSA grading again. Rinse and repeat.
I don't doubt it. He probably made a few grand. I mean I won't do it, but was tempted a few years ago (Well like 9) (I was broke, i still am broke, but have a much larger respect for the game) Plus i have been scammed and know how it feels.
Once you have mastered defeating the case security, it is very simple. Cases have changes several times since the version that is shown so hopefully it is not still so easy.
That is probably right. Can PSA track them by the number?
I'm def about to do that is it easy as fuck
The problem is the person who had the real card graded will just deny that they sold it to the person who got scammed and their is no way to prove it nor will police waste their time on something like this.
You should keep the empty case in the store and be like:
*This card is so valuable that poor people can't even see it*
This Time Twisiter is so powerful it Time Twistered itself
Have you ever seen that one Timmy that hides from dirty Teferi players?
They know the Emperor wears no clothes, but they bow down to him anyway....its better than being alone.
it's crazy to think some people would believe that too
It's a John Cena rookie card!
Be careful guys, I got word a group has been procuring identical card slabs the top graders are using, and the same ultrasonic slab welders. They are cracking gem mint slabs taking the label and card out then putting a 9 grade raw card and the gem mint label in the identical slabs and welding them. They then send the gem mint back in as raw for grading. The end up with 2 gem mint slabbed cards. I have been fruitlessly warning graders that having removable labels that aren't glued inside slab, or using security laser etching on the slab itself that this will continue.
Now this is a Florida man I can get behind. No wacky news headlines, just some super authentic Chinese magic cards for our viewing pleasure.
Chinese???????
Rudy, the reason the second breaking open made a mess, is because the glue bonds the Plastic so good, that when you opened it a second time, the fault line of the original break is so strong, it has to make a second pathway. ie most glues bond by fusing the plastic. I don't think the original case was sealed properly. but when it was re-glued, then rudy's tool caused it to fault in a different area as the original seal (which is now re-glued) and is now much stronger than it was originally. so hence that why it got all chewed up ie it followed a different path second time.
From now on I'll send my PSA cards to be graded for BGS, so they will be double sealed.
Jokes on you.
"Authentic Grade 10 PSA Case."
they are ALL scammers. Don't waste your money
And get a third of the values
Bags are really the best go for. If you think it's pristine send it to Beckett's. If you think is lesser than that folder it or sell it. PSA are bandits
I don't know how I got here... I usually have food recommendations lol.
But I did watch the entire video, i don't even know how to play Magic hahaha.
i thought i was the only one, lol i got on here to watch the news..... then all of a sudden im watching Denzel in The Equalizer 2 fight scenes now this......
Same herr! Haha
Welcome!
Plot twist: the guy didn’t get hosed, he’s just getting your review of how good his case switch looks so he can scam people
Bloodreign137 that’s a good take!
L0l
That's why I just buy the counterfeit directly instead of getting hosed trying to buy a real one. Much less expensive and my playgroup doesn't care lol
Yeah, I just make a proxy stamp to mark all my proxies as fakes. I'd never try to sell, and only get reserved list cards
I've bought a few of the fan made cards with fancy artwork to use -fetch lands and such, but I would never buy a counterfeit card that tries to pass itself off as the real thing.
My playgroup generally doesn't care, but I'm working toward removing the proxies and fake cards from my decks, even if it makes them less effective.
My proxies look pretty good, but they say “proxy the gathering” on the back, so I’m a trade, if they got mixed up it would be easy to see. They are blue cored and pass more tests than I expected, so I’m glad they have the name different on the back.
@@christopherbackus5578 Why remove the proxies? I understand hating counterfeits but proxies are fine so long as you're not at a tournament.
@@xxhowisuxx When was the last paper magic tournament? Must be a century ago..
PSA may have a log of that barcode and who it was shipped to. If they can show that they are grading multiple of the same cards at the same grade to that one account then that should almost be the nail in the coffin for this mystery.
Different names, different addresses, different credit cards.
@@henrymullin5574 its not that easy my dude
Imagine how many tacos you could have bought with that money...
Rare misprinted psa 7 unlimited time twister. shipped without product inside. $20k minimum.
Hope Rudy puts that rare bad boy on Craigslist.
When I googled psa and the number it brought up some weird ebay link... for an old sale of that card
every magic collector needs to buy a jewelers scope and just look at the yellow dot on back or the purple ring is quickest way to authentic cards quickly. Get use to the dot pattern and it's easy to verify.
I collect non Magic PSA cards this shit is terrifying, I thought PSA cases go cloudy when opened or cracked.
G G As mentioned in the video, they do.
I dont think they do I broke 2 PSA cases to get a "force of will" and a "chrome mox" so I could play with the card.
My guess is Rudy would be qualified to testify at trial in a court of law as an expert in the field of MTG card litigation disputes.
He'd rip a fake in the court room and be held in contempt
“I would estimate the value of his card to be $3-4000...
Let me compare it to my collection of 12 of them”
lmao
BGS 8-8.5 are for sale on ebay at $3250 or best offer. No was is a PSA 7 a $3-$4000 card.
@@Mentally_Hilarious its a better title
_Loaded Rudy_ with _Opulent Investments_
Your full of shit
This whole back story is as fishy as they come. Fan theories below:
1. The person who “bought” it made up the story. They actually made the card sleeve and faked it themselves. And sent the card to Rudy to see if it would past the Rudy test before they tried to sell it off as the real deal. The back story on this card is so awful and makes zero sense.
2. Rudy actually tracked this card down and made up the back story. That way this will put fear into the high end buyers and may turn some people off of buying the super high end stuff. So he personally can pick it up cheaper. It would all be for personal gain.
This is just fan theory. Love the content Rudy!
This is what happened: dude bought a PSA 7 Timetwister. Dude very skillfully opened the PSA case, swapped out the card with a fake. Dude then sold both for $3,000 a piece and profited, OR Dude sold the fake PSA graded one for $3,000, kept the Timetwister for free.
There are no extra cases. He is most likely swaping the real card with a fake and then sending the real card off to be graded over and over.
Track down who the original owner of the card was from the registry. If the label is authentic it means that at some point the owner removed the label and original card. Then they got the fake case. Added the fake card, and real label to the fake case to try and pass it off as a real graded time twister.
I got two PSA 10 slabbed pokemon cards (from the same seller) that could never grade for 10s. I've been worried about those. I've been scared people can crack open real PSA 10 slabs and then replace the 10 with something that'd never get a 10, then reseal and sell. Very scary.
You don’t even have to crack open a slab, you can buy empty slabs, make your own labels, and pop a proxy card in there. EZ
Rudy flexes his collection of UNL Timetwisters for 13 minutes
There will come a time when the scammers will figure it out, flood the market with dupes, and crash legacy values.
Now, let me take my Zoltan Mystic head wrap off.
When/If I ever decide to start investing in power, I am sending Rudy a plane ticket to come verify everything with me on site.
It's a shame people get away with stuff like this
Also don't buy something where you have 0 chance of ever getting your money back if you can't personally inspect it.
It blows my mind that people buy cards on Twitter.
dumb soi bois
Rudy just casually pulls out 30k worth of cards
That's spare change in his basement . . . rumor is, between him, the slave girls, and his midget assistants, a cup of coffee internally costs 3 alpha rares at least
@@fsmoura alpha rares are like gold coins in the john wick universe. in the real world, one buys you a cleanup of 10 corpses from your home. in the continental (rudy's basement) it gets you one night in a hotel
The yellowing on the case s probably from a heat gun used to soften up the glue so they can pry it open a little to do what you did. Just have to re-glue the case after.
look at the 2.. the 2 is trying to make a run for it
Had to laugh so hard when i noticed the 2 in the mana symbol.
The sad thing is your average person, or probably at least 90% of people out there have no clue how to look for these kinds of scams anyway, so you could just go to any game store and just rip off pretty much everybody. I mean just a few weeks ago I was doing trades and I have a bunch of collector's edition cards, and the people looking at it didn't even know that it was collector's edition and they just thought it was beta cards and they were getting all excited about it like it was worth a ton of money.
To be fair, some of them have ridiculous values even as collectors editions..
Never collected magic but man thats some intresting stuff right here.
I don't know why anyone would put value into these cards anymore when counterfeits are becoming indistinguishable from real cards. In a few years, I predict that stores won't be able to tell the difference anymore. I think you'll start seeing PSA and Beckett grading fake cards as well. Unfortunately, it's over I thinks.
You could at least track displays with blockchain tech.
typing the verification number into the psa card search shows that it is a real label for a 7 NM timetwister. whoever made it went that little extra step to make it seem legit.
Because the guy owns a real one and sends it in to get graded. Then heat treated the case like Ruby said just to open it and place a fake inside then try to seal it back together.
@@therealdeal1138 that's right. seeing as how the card's value is in the thousands the buyer can probably get the seller for fraud, provided he can be found
When Rudy said you can spot problems from a distance, I was thinking:
"Well, from this distance, that looks like a perfectly passable Revised-Edition Timetwister ... Waiddasecond ..."
"since Egyptian times" Lol XD
"Sonically welded" is the term you were looking for.
Plot twist: When he opens the case he accidentally opens his real Case
The fact you even have to worry about counterfeit is a clear sign that they just need to bite the bullet and reprint these cards. But that's just me, cause I don't give two craps about card value (monetary)
Mr E Meat
For the most part those cards would retain their value as well. There are plenty of reprints where the original is still super pricy because of the vintage format. I am a collector and a player. I appreciate the value of the card as well as the monetary value. But I would also like reprints of these cards. However, being banned cards it wont happen unless they produce non tournament legal variations
Gaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy
@@OdinPlays94 The scarcity also keeps the cards legal for play.
Pokemon Master they’re not banned cards, they’re on the reserve list. Different things.
This is very concerning for online card purchases, as even if the card is graded, you're still not safe buying online.
I would definitely be paying with a buyer protected payment method such as PayPal or Credit Card, and please people, don't wait months to look at your purchases!!!
10:52 2 in mana circle is straight up atrocious
Rudy, sorry if you already did a video on this, but can you do something explaining the different generations of counterfeit cards you refer to? In my opinion there's not enough educational resources out here explaining how to identify a counterfeit.
Rude dog! I primarily played magic back in the day when...well, when the cards first came out. Anywho, you've been getting me back into magic lately, and even considering magic as an interesting investment option. How interesting the magic market! Good work, sir.
Some guy at PSA got mad at his paycheck. Grabbed a bunch of holders and his login still works to print id plates......and then he logged into craigslist
That fake card could fool me man. Im a Pokemon collector and some of the vintage non-holo fakes now are at 100% identical to original.
Would have been cool to see the light test when it's in the case, that's probably the best was to see its a fake PSA/Beckett.
The fake card looks like the same material that McDonald’s uses for their Pokémon promo cards
:55 did he say “no it wasn’t a shady person like me” 😒 lol
I don’t play magic and never have but these videos are fascinating
The scammers are getting even more creative...
Now I have this empty case... where did I put my fake Black Lotus...
"Hey Timmies, boy do I have an offer for you... a PSA 10 Black Lotus!"
The guy probably bought the card from Ruby. I hear Ruby is a creepy, shady dude...
whos this ruby character?
As for obtaining a genuine PSA case, there are thousands of sportscards that are cheap enough to "sacrifice".
Something that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned, but the little circles from the printer on the real card are all lined up straight, y'know like they were printed on a big sheet and then cut. But the fake one has them at an angle.
This is sad. I know the purchaser made some terrible decisions, but this still makes me sad for him. Nobody deserves what happened to him and I literally felt my mood sink just thinking about it. My current problem is I over analyze every card now. I end up questioning the key older ones so much I’ll almost convince myself they aren’t real. There are some incredibly good fakes out there (this is not one of those good fakes) and it has me spooked, and I’ve been playing and handling Alpha/Beta since forever as an early player. I have a jewelers loupe, and other things. But that light test isn’t the one I’ve used previously. I’ve always done targeted rosettes and looking for lavender etc in the cardboard light. So to help alleviate my particular fear of buying Alpha/Beta/Unlimited which light was that? Are there specific bulb colors, or wavelengths, lumen counts, or can I order one just like the one in your hand?
Lol, lost it at "the 2 is trying to make a run for it!"
Thank you for this video!!!! It needs more views
if it was all real its still a scam you have been sold a piece of card for 4k.
Cake? Did you say Cake? Why did you say cake? Are we having cake? I love cake!
I wondered for years why people do not simply fake PSA or Beckit cases, can´t be that hard to do, and most people buy them pretty blind when in the case, since they see it as a kind of guarantee it is real. Plus in the thick casing it is way harder to spot the fake.
Your heart breaks for that buyer :(
Edwin the Magic Engineer not really.
It isn’t hard to educate yourself a bit before spending $4k on cardboard by watching channels like this and not buying power 9 from some guy on the street
@@GM-rs2fv You know that now, but people whom are starting out don't.
PSA and BCG would know who did it. Unless they’re professional and used fake names for submitting.
Yea unless the label is faked pretty sure these grading companies keep track. Though alternative pov for this video is how to SUCCESSFULLY fake a psa graded card.
Thanks for heads up
that's rough... wondering how many ppl rushed to check their PSA cards after seeing this
My big question centers around the misaligned mana “2”. Why is it that way? Are counterfeits really high res scans of real cards or are the individual design components of a card de/reconstructed with editing software?
Every time I see these videos and hear the price of these old cards the saying "I wish I knew then what I know now" really just rings in my head and I cry a little. When I first started playing I thought they were way expensive, the Power 9 that is, when most were only about 75-150 bucks for mint copies. Lotus was 500 dollars for a perfect beta copy. Heck I bought 3 boxes of Urza's Saga, 2 Legacy all for about 60 a box. Yeah I wouldn't have opened them if I knew how much they'd be worth lol and I for sure would've bought up the Mox's a friend was selling for 25 a piece because he just wanted out of the game. Well time to get making that time machine, buy up power 9 on list along with invest in Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
For sure, but you also would have to know not to sell as the price kept climbing... and maybe in 5 years people will say the same stuff about anyone who sold a Timetwister in 2019 for only $3k. There are tweets from people overjoyed they got $100 each for their bitcoins. Predicting the future is hard!
same here, but back in 93-94 no one knew mtg was going to be as big as it is now
I'd be comfortably retired off the all power I sold in the mid 90s for like 3k
Any ideas on what to do with a pokémon collection from my childhood? They are well kept in binders, so some might be good enough to be worth more than pennies. I should add that I don’t live in Europe or the US. ^^’
Point me in a direction please. You seem very wel informed on trading cards in general even though this was a MTG video.
My question is. How could you tell if it's fake if you buy it on eBay or Amazon? I'm debating on buying some graded cards but afraid of getting scammed
Also, it's graded NM, but there's visible wear on the corners.
Woah!! I’ve never seen the WSB fella in the back😂🤌🏻
You keep saying it's a terrible example. I think it is an amazing example. The light doesn't work unless it is out of the case.I don't know how ANYONE noticed it was a conterfeit still while in the case. Just the black border being faded while in the case? I'm surprised you didn't mention at all the label being an old version not the new hologramed PSA version. The only thing I learned is the case is easy to open AND close and there is NO reason for a counterfeiter to try and duplicate the new harder to duplicate label when they don't have to--this is BIG info though. Thanks.
Great video..well informative..Thanks my main man!!
I am interested in how they re-sealed the case so well. A better fake would be really hard to determine since the case is sealed so well. Basically, how do we know if other cases have also been resealed? Or if someone has a bunch of unused PSA cases and just has to crack authentic cards for their PSA labels? The only way you know is if you have it in your hands and try to break it open... not many sellers would be comfortable with that.
Appreciate these videos. Gotta stay ahead of these scammers
I knew my tool would be famous some day. I wonder if it can light test through a sealed case??
Rudy showed great skill at playing with your tool.
Did you make that yourself? Where can one get one? That is an awesome tool to do the light test!
Where can I buy one of those lights?
I think the light through a sealed case should remain white. Definitely need to test that.
@@ComicCryptoStock I made a video on my channel to test the theory. It works.
i know a little bit about magic but didnt know they also had fakes out there also amazing opening that slab now i know how to open a slab more efficiently
Me trying to "Look at this" before I look at the next thing
PSA 10 GEM MINT TIME TWISTER....DANG ..GOD DAMN HOLY COW
I like how you share your knowledge of magic that's years of experience us Timmy's dont have. Thank for learning us
Man that 2 on the casting would have told me to tell my "friend" to piss off.
Rudy what happened is someone sent in there card to Psa got a 7 wasn't happy about it broke it out transfered the paper and a copy to a empty case copy case from China but real label. Probably got the original regraded
OMG! GLUE!! I am glad im watching this. I want to get some old graded MTG cards in my new future on eBay. Whew glad this was not on ebay.
This is what i found on the card Thank it was from the ebay sale info: This sale is for one 1993 Magic: The Gathering Timetwister from Unlimted graded 7 and authenticated.
Please see actual scans of front and back of card.
is there a link for it somewhere, cause i couldnt find this on google at all.
People are doing similar things with comics. I bought a Chew #1 CGC 9.9 and the book didn’t look like a 9.9 and the case had some tool marks on it. Luckily it was eBay so I returned it.
Couldn't it be that someone from psa swapped out the real one and sealed it up n sent it out?
I just started being interested in buying some slabs because I started buying higher end vintage cards. How do I educate myself throughly to protect myself. I know mistake will be made but I need to make sure
Someone on UA-cam a while back was showing off counterfeit psa case with fake holo sticker and everything.
You know, if someone started making counterfeit magiccards that's just new cards, to improve the game, that'd be pretty cool. Like a bootleg new block, Pirates of Ravnica or something like that.
The best part of the video
*the 2s trying to make a run for it*
with technology the way it is honestly collector packs why don’t the high value cards just be put into the case pre sealed? just have it sealed already with like a sticker that would show if it’s been open. idk that’s just me.
people are insane if they buy stuff directly from shady sellers and expect to get the real deal.
I don’t know nothing about Magic, but wow thanks for sharing the video. I’m sure they are doing this with sports cards too. Thanks for sharing, great video. 👍🏼😊
Wow, what a turbo nutslap for Timmy Jr
When the 2 is trying to make a run for it, run away from the deal!
Boski I was watching your video today with DeGen dan and I watched his videos now I'm here i wasted hours on youtube thanks man
thank you for proving me right today thank you for sharing this video I am trying to teach people that just because cards are encapsulated does not make them authentic China is at the forefront of destroying collectibility and they have been for a hundred years plus.. I believe the only way is once you buy a PSA graded card you have to have it regraded either by the same company or a different one maybe they can step their game up and put tracking on these cards so it can be confirmed who owns it
I know an individual who did this. Apparently they use a medical scalpel to open the cases very carefully, takes like hours to get it open.
The people who do this are pure scum and in addition to doing this they sell the graded one and they keep the original and resend it over and over to get more and more money.
But... one would argue having 7 raw twisters is entirely unnecessary in it's own right. That counterfeit is abhorrent lol.
Thankfully for me I bought all my power back in 2004 when it was still obtainable. My parents called my insane for spending 100-200 sometimes 400 bucks on a single card. I got players grade P9 but hey! they're mine! Because I would NOT trust buying P9 in the current climate. Jesus.
Wonder if you could do the light test with the card in the PSA case? I would think it would still work! The thing is now the counterfeiters will try and make cards that don't show the yellow. By exposing them they learn how to make better fakes. Nothing you can do but try and stay ahead.
Maybe its yellow because they heated it to open the case easely due to the heated plastic
The owner of the real card send it in and gets it back from PSA, and then he opens it some how with out damaging the case then inserts the fake card. After that he sales it as if it is real card to the individual that bought and you could tell PSA what happened to get the person info, but there could be a possibility that it was sold by the original owner.
