Even though I am a Man Utd fan and wished for Chelsea to lose so much, that game was horrible to watch. I felt pity for the fans and just because this guy comes out now to speak out doesn't change my opinion of him. You could see clearly that he was ready to ignore every time a chelsea player (especially Drogba) fell or protested. I don't want to bring strong accusations of him being corrupt or bribed, but that was the closest match I've seen that literally seemed like match-fixing. I hated Chelsea for their rise to the top with oil money, (Chelski, Abramovich) but as fan of Man Utd and the Premier League, that was injustice and in my opinion the worst refereeing in the history of Champions League football.

And also its very hard for a linesman to call Eto'o offside since he's very fast (that's a normal mistake), but at Chelsea, all the mistakes were on purpose. Even Platini (Italian(worked for UEFA))said "UEFA was grossed by the English teams dominating between 2005-2009" in every final. Uefalona or Refelona will always prevail.

I don't have the exact stats, but the attendance that night was 37,857 and basing on the magnitude of the game, stadium, etc. and with a reasonable ticket price, he robbed 37857 people for probably at least a few million pounds, in the stadium alone. Hard-working people spent money to see an honest game of Football and they were all scammed. There is too much money and people vested in high-level Football for this to happen.

Even as a Spurs fan, this game is without doubt a suspicious one. I saw at least 4 definite penalties. People said there were 6, but not sure about that. Four definite ones for me. And not one was called. Very suspicious

@@arhaan2004 abidal should be sent off earlier, and the first leg firmly so far is probably 2-1 for barca if eto'o can square that 1v1, and if henry gets a penalty then so is drogba and yellow/ red for ballack, but nothing tops that second leg.

I think Jamie Redknapp (yes of all people) said it perfectly. You can't have a game of that magnitude with those two teams and the pace they play at be refereed by someone not used to that. It should've been someone from Serie A or the Bundesliga, not someone from Norway where the game is slower and where it's more intimate.
Uefa needed a ref with a lower profile. They didn't want to ruin the career of one of their top referees.
