Alex being Alex, gotta love it! Well Neil Young is Canadian. LOL Hey, back in the 70's here in Winnipeg where it gets flippin cold in the winter. -40C all the guys would wear flannel shirts and grow their beards to keep warmer. La Villa Strangiato will always be one of my all time favourite Rush songs! ❤❤❤
I love Geddys and Alex's expression to each other at the beginning, it's almost like did we just do that weird intro 😅 Alex would be excellent in a circus playing tuba sounding taurus pedals, bring on the juggler 😅😅 still a great instrumental still can't believe written in 78/79
I saw 3 shows on this tour...first one was Atlanta in 2010 and remembering how incredible this sounded live at the outdoor amphitheater the show was at...i left my buddy from the 40th row and walked down to the aisle way behind the soundboard to just vibe out for a few minutes...a glorious memory of them live🤘
Sounds better than the album every time I hear it live! All that strutting around could be why they call Alex “Lersxt”! LOL! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
If Freddie Gruber had mean things to say about Neil's drumming technique, I wonder what a piano teacher would say about Geddy's big fat keyboard thumb. Oy vey! I liked this "Monsters (reprise)" -- it was as if a clumsy bunch of high schoolers were playing it. Steven Wilson did something similar on a tour where he and his band did a "Shag's Rendition" of a song. F-ing hilarious.
Ah, the polka version. We had in N. California, the special Alex’s guitar is out of tune version, and Alex was pissed!! 🤬🤬🤬 While Ged played intro, Alex screamed at his tech, yes again, again, and proceeded to loudly and audibly tune up that white Gibson he’d just been handed. Meanwhile, Ged is looking over like, ‘ya alright over there Al?’ while doing an extended polka jam basically by himself. Pretty hilarious in hindsight. Playing this shit live is not for the faint of heart. 😂🤣
They had fun, sounded like the audience had fun. To me it sounded like Alex was flirting with a trainwreck just for the heck of it, but pulled it back. All fine with me, it's live, not memorex, so for those who bought tickets I'm sure they felt it was all ok. Neil banging on those drums and happy at the end he was through it. Must be a heck of a song to play and to do it well. So to take the analysis a bit further would you think Neil isolates his drums to just a certain amount of music from the others to avoid being distracted when they do go a bit off the rails? ;) Since I do have the studio version etched on my brain that's what all others are compared to... Can't hep it.
Here is my favorite version of La Villa from this tour. The video is titled "Still No Guitar". I'm pretty sure I've shared it with you before but figured I'd do it again. Boston. Alex's entire rig blows up during the ending of Far Cry and still isn't functional when the band comes out for the encore. In fact, even after the tech gets him up and running, he doesn't have a pedal board. Watch this at least through Alex's first solo.. it's fascinating! ua-cam.com/video/5_mbYzM8axo/v-deo.html
Well I'm disappointed, thought I'd get at least one "what the heck" 😊. Masterclass from Rush, LVS never disappoints, and I love this version and performance. Like any red blooded Canadian trying to stay warm in the winter, I've got my fair share of flannel shirts 🥶. Thanks Justin, Working Man next and Alex is already properly attired.
Have you ever thought about how fucking intense a three hour show must have been for Neil? Let alone alll the songs but then throw the solo in there as well. He was pushing i60 here, mostly playing incredibly busy and technical parts he wrote in his 20’s and 30’s. It had to be quite the physical endeavor. Oh! Some Geddy sporadic vocal issues aside, if you had gone to this tour, hell any of them, would you truly have been disappointed or felt that your money had not been well spent? Just curious.
One of my all time favourite guitar solos.
Alex and his dead arm crack me up every time!
What dead arm? I dont get it
I can’t help but sing, “ Still no guitar. Still no guitar” at the beginning 😅
Dude same lmao
Same here 😁👍
one word, CLASSIC, 🤘🤘🤘
Hey Stella .... Stella .... it's the dynamics again. It's stellar Stella.
I do wish you could’ve seen these guys live.
Fun version of the tune! I was there, and all us Clevelanders loved it :)
For me this video is pretty much top-tier late Rush. I appreciate your doing these reactions, Justin.

It was the working man in Cleveland you did , that’s why I mentioned the cloths are the same a couple of videos back
Geddy wasnt to strained with his voice on this one!
From west coast canada, peace ( haha?! ).

You did Working Man (Live in Cleveland)
Alex adding a little robot walk there for a moment. The attempt to beat Geddy's one-legged hop failed.
I thought he was doing a Frankenstein monster walk...or a zombie 😂
and La Villa Strangiato is retired 😢😫😭😖😩🤬 No More Monsters!!! 🧌👹👿🧟♀️🐲😱👻🧿👽🤖

I'm sure it would have been great. Then I'd watch the Snakes & Arrows tour videos and thought shit I shoulda went to that one lol
Because of Digital Man and Entre Nous...best tour post tragedy! P.s. maybe for Far Cry too!🤘

Polka rocks!!! Who knew?😂
Not my favorite performance of this song but it was fun.
I wonder for how much one could auction off that empty basket today?
Could you elaborate on the Neil Young reference?
Flannel Shirt...
