Since you were confused, I’ve come to release my storehouse of information. First, the song. During the Second World War, Great Britain relied heavily on imports of food, guns, oil, etc. This demand increased even further when the U.S.A. entered the war and started sending soldiers over to England. Germany adopted U-Boats to raid British merchant shipping, with the intent to starve out Britain, and end the war. In response to the heavy losses of merchant shipping, both Britain and the U.S grouped their ships into convoys, so that they could be protected by destroyers and such. In response, the Germans started organising their U-Boats into “Wolfpacks” to attack convoys with multiple submarines from multiple angles. The song is about one convoy - convoy 92 - encountering one of these wolfpacks on their way to the U.S. Gleaves and Ingham were two of the escort ships. As for the movie, it’s an Apple exclusive movie called “Greyhound” which is about a similar situation. In “The Pit” which was the area in the Atlantic where you couldn’t get anti-submarine aircraft support. Tom Hanks plays the captain of the destroyer “Greyhound”. I highly recommend it, it’s a good movie.
And just to add, Wolfpacks were really close to actually starve UK. They were the only thing that Churchill feared. He was more scared of the wolfpack than the raid on Britain, that show us how dangerously close they were to actually winning by that time. And also, U-boats are submarines. Same thing, just different name. Its an english version of U-boot (Unterseeboot, Under Sea boat).
Another thing to mention about the convoy is the fact that no one, including the one in charge, had any experience in anti-submarine warfare and on top of that only HMCS Bittersweet had a new radar and SS Bury was the only one given an HF/DF system used for intercepting radio signals, like you couldn't give the Germans an easier target
I loved the melody, I love how sabaton isn't TOO metal (though I clearly haven't heard all their songs) so I can thoroughly enjoy it without losing focus!
Hey again great reaction :) Always perfect timing for my breakfast too, which makes it better hah. The Kriegsmarine, the german navy I guess (?), were beasts. They did rule the sea in several areas of the war. I dont remember if you already reacted to Bismarck or not, but that's also the German Kriegsmarine. Now that we have awoken some much needed love for Hammerfall, and I am glad that you get to be the one to enjoy that cake of a band since not many are reacting to them on UA-cam, let's introduce you to some others lesser listened to, without making it too heavy for you xD Maybe that will bring you all those fans that , like me, have been waiting for these bands! Now, my next suggestion is a semi-reacted to band. Sonata Arctica - Misery. Not super heavy either, and the song is beautiful. Link: ua-cam.com/video/kqi82tk0Lvk/v-deo.html and live version coz its amazing: ua-cam.com/video/ZeCnYeNo4Nw/v-deo.html All those Finnish heavy metal bands are great. (the kings of metal -- Finland, Sweden, Netherlands. My opinion.) If you want to get more than the Sabaton and Hammerfall fans on your channel, the obvious listen to would be Tommy Johansson. Take you pick. But his cover of his own band is great. Tommy Johansson - "The Light". That's one of the guitarrists from Sabaton, so with him on your playlist all the fans will come flocking is my guess. Just, uh, please dont become one of those who doesnt see the other super amazing guitarrist in Sabaton, because Chris is equally amazing at both playing and singing (and he has been in Sabaton longer than Tommy and has a lot of solos, even though the Tommy fanclub thinks that everything is Tommy LOL). Link: ua-cam.com/video/pxwo77TEo3w/v-deo.html Those are my two suggestions for you, hope you have a great day :)
Ah a new band! I gladly give it a try if it's you that's recommending them! I'll probably most likely try out Tommy first since this is the second time you brought him up, I'm now intrigued :) Also I just wanted to express my gratitude for your interest in helping my channel grow. The most selfless thing one can do is help someone else with no expectation of reciprocation. And when I see that, I see a beautiful soul who is genuine in their intentions. Thank you, seriously :D
@@Clouded_Reactions Thank you :) Thats exactly what I needed to hear today! Now, Tommy has a very Powermetal sound, so its more instruments and sometimes its more to that "screamy" that you may or may not like. Well, In this particular song anyway, but it's an epic song, it's not over the top, its just very high sounding vocals, still can hear the lyrics and all that. So don't get scared off if its too heavy for you. His niche on UA-cam has been to turn songs into powermetal. So, he makes covers. "The Light" is a cover of his own song with his first band.
Talking about bands similar to Sabaton, there are quite a lot of bands singing about history, a lot of them death metal sadly but those that are more similar to sabaton would be Civil War, Desert or Serenity amongst others From Civil War I would most likely just recommend the whole Civil War album or the song Admiral over the Ocean From Serenity you can try listening to My Last Crusade Desert did a collab with Joakim for the song No Step Back so that might me a good start overall Anyway keep up the good work and nice seeing you back
I'm doing the albums in order that they were released so I can see if and how Sabaton evolved musically over the years! Hopefully Stalingrad isn't too far away!

Fun Fact for those who don't know The Naval term wolfpack refers to a WWII German convoy attack tactic used by submarines
Amazing what ends up in our vocabulary because what a few good men did in HISTORY!!! Thanks brother!!
Not only do I like this reaction cause it is good. I like it because you are a fellow Cardinals fan
Even when they're down I rep them, bird gang! Cheers brother!
@@Clouded_Reactions Cheers man! Bird gang 4 lyfe!
Tardinals... my beloved...
This was one of my early favorites (from Sabaton obv.)!

We're talking about the German submarine fleet.
I'm a little slow but I eventually get there. Appreciate the clarification!
One of the ships in Convoy 92 that was sunk by the Uboats (U-94) was Swedish (Tolken)
🇸🇪 ♥
Great reaction!
Thank brother! It's more of a treat for me to hear it for the first time!

great video broski! would love to see your reaction to ''stalingrad'' from sabaton too! cheers.
