  • A step-by-step guide on how I tie my hooklinks for barbel fishing, detailing which components I use and why. I have been using these hooklinks for quite a while now and they work fantastically well for me so I thought I'd show you exactly how I tie them and why they work. Maybe they will even help you land you a few more barbel.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the film.
This is a sister channel to my main channel, Avon Angling UK. That is a diary vlog of my fishing, with every session filmed and posted. It can be found here / avonanglinguk
A huge thanks goes to John Cain, Richard Bawcombe, Nick S and Tony Thomas for their generous support of Avon Angling UK through Patreon. Many thanks.
If you enjoy my videos and would like to become a patron of Avon Angling UK to help support the channel, please visit / avonanglinguk where you will find several ways you can get involved, each with it's own benefits.
As you will notice the comments are closed on all my videos. I have done this as (I know from past experience) I do not have time to reply to them all and I feel very ignorant not doing so. I don't want you to waste your time writing comments that I will not have chance to read. Having said that, if you would like to get in touch on any specific issue, you can do so through my instagram account or facebook page. The links are on the channel page.
    Many thanks and tight lines,
    Nic
    Components:-
    - Korda N-Trap Soft (15lb)
    - Korda Kamo (15lb)
Alternatively I also use Gardner Target Speciskin (10lb), depending on what breaking strain main line I'm using (to keep the hooklink breaking strain lower than that of the main line for fish safety and in order to reduce tackle loss from snagged gear).
    - Korda IQ2 Fluorocarbon
    - Korda D-Rig Kickers
    - Korda Kurv Shank Hooks
    - Korda Kickers
    - Taska 18mm Flexi Threaded Oval Bait Rings (discontinued)
    Alternatively I'm starting to use:-
    - Nash Plastic Swivel Bait Screws
    - Nash Bait screw
    - Korda Bait Screw Swivel
but I've not settled on a definite replacement for the Taska ones yet.
