Thank you guys so much for all your input! It was a big help when deciding on a first bike for Christina! Now we need to decide what mods to do so let us know your favorite mods and companies for the R3!
My recommendation for mods: High quality gear! Helmet, Perforated leather jacket, Pants, Boots, and Gloves. Modify your next bike that you will likely keep longer. It may not be as cool or as exciting but high quality gear is a better investment at this point. My two cents.
I completely agree and we actually do have all of those things for her. Just waiting on her pants to arrive :) We'll do a gear review video on the future showing what gear we use :)
The jacket is short at the front and longer in the back for a reason on those styles of jackets. It's designed for being in the tuck position so it doesn't bunch up on you and longer at the back so that you can attach them to your riding pants. If you get say, a cafe racer style jacket then get on your GSXR and go for a ride, you'll see how much a normal jacket bunches on a sport bike.
You're in good shape man. Take a look around at the guys wearing them that are soft in the middle. That looks even funnier. That bunching up is the reason I don't wear textile jackets anymore. Can't find one that doesn't do that. Well, one that doesn't cost as much as leather anyway. I'm 6' tall, 162 pounds and all my textile jackets make me look fat.
Dont talk down her new bike bro (women are really sensitive) ... let her enjoy it - it's not your bike !!!! I made that mistake when my wife bought a new 2014 Honda CBR600RR for her first bike !!!
+MOTORCYCLES ANDGUNS Same here haha. It really erks me when anti gun people don't even know what they're talking about (30 caliber magazine clip...need I say more?) lol
Hey Jaret, I've been watching your videos for couple weeks now and like what you are doing, keep it up. Just wanted to say congrates to Christina on getting her first bike, that's awesome, hope she loves it, hope you guys have fun riding together and be safe out there, cant wait for more videos man
My bike shop gave me a new R3 as a loan bike while they were servicing my bike. Once you get the revs up it's a fun little bike to ride. I'm sure she'll love it, and it's a great bike for her to start on.
great to see her finally getting her own bike and riding. nothing beats owning, riding and taking care of your own. I also see many guys on here commenting on how it was a mistake to start on the 300, I completely disagree. first and foremost if that's what she feels comfortable on and makes her confident to ride then that's the perfect bike for her, no matter how fast or not she outgrows it. there's nothing worse than getting a bike that you're scared off to push. she'll be able to ride the piss out of that 300 in no time and it will help her build that confidence. then when she upgrades to a 600 or up it'll be really easy for her. the bigger bikes are more stable and solid feeling and she'll love it, but for now this twitchy and nimble 300 will teach her a skillset that a 600 and up won't. and if she ever decides to track this R3 then that's when the real fun will come in! enjoy and safe riding to you two!
Awesome bike!!! It reminds me of my first bike, a red 2008 ninja 250. I miss that bike sometimes but luckily I sold it to a friend so his wife could learn to ride on it, so it's still close by. Bikes like the 250s and 300s are extremely light and nimble but that's what makes them so awesome, I loved taking mine out to the beach to cruise and just enjoy the breeze. I'm at 320 miles now on my 2017 zx6r and will be doing the first service soon here. I can't wait until I am able to really open it up.
Congrats. She has the same big ol smile I had when I bought my first bike in 1974. It too was brand new and my bro in law rode it home from A.J. Foyt Kawasaki-Houston I found it parked in our garage after coming home from school that day. Ride On-Ride Safe. AND HAVE FUN!!!!
Great choice. Any in that class would have been acceptable, but that R3 and color choice is exceptionally nice. Plenty of power while learning to deal with cars and other distractions. I would suggest riding it long enough to develop defensive riding habits. Be patient and ride safe.
A good choice for her first bike. I have just bought the naked version of the r3, the mt03. In my case to use as a commuter instead of my heavy VFR800. The nice thing with a bike like the R3, Ninja 300 etc is you can have lots of fun, without needing the warp speed. Enjoy the new bike, and keep the shiny side up. Fran.
Nice! Welcome to the Family Christina! Can't go wrong with a Yamaha. If you do a slip on exhaust and a better air cleaner like a K&N get a power commander V and have Karn's performance tune it. Jason is the man with tuning. My V-Star 950 that you guys sat on is tuned and I'm extremely happy. Gained 5 Horse Power and a Couple more ft lbs of torque. Very crisp throttle response.
YES AND AGAIN YES, perfect bike, won't get tired very quickly, handles impecably well, honing her skills on a true sports bike. Finally after all the whining.
Nothing wrong with breaking it in hard. You want the rings to seat and there is only a short window of opportunity to do that. Lots of heavy downshifts will create vacuum and help them to seat properly. Make sure to dump that oil right away as well, no need to have metal floating around and scoring the engine. I changed mine twice before the 600 mile first service. Congrats on picking such a nice looking machine.
It's a fantastic bike. Nice one Christina! Keep it for at least a year while she learns her roadcraft, then she can go to more power if she wants to. Yamaha brakes generally feel a bit squishy compared to a lot of other manufacturers, but they have plenty of stopping power, it's just the lack of initial bite that bothers some people. With the ABS don't be afraid of simply grabbing the levers hard if you need to.
Yes I 100% agree with that. We are actually thinking of coming to florida for the winters and bringing out bikes so we can ride year round so I'll definitely keep ya posted :)
it's a beautiful bike . congratulations to christina. the cc size doesn't matter as long as she enjoys it. remember our convo on the other video about advanced riding. luck for the future
Ya I just bought a KTM RC390 and you have to keep it under 6k rpm for the first 600 miles. I think you should ride the RC390 and see what you think. It rides amazing and in my opinion it is the best looking bike in its class.
Congratulations Christina! Mods? You shouldn't do anything to this bike. Save the money for mods for your next bike you may only have this one for 3 to 6 months before you want to take the next step (FZ07, Street Triple) .... The both of you should get quality riding gear; helmet, jacket, pants, gloves and riding boots (no Chucks) Then commit to ATGATT. No SQUIDing I don't mean to preach, but you DO love each other, RIGHT? Besides, there is nothing sexier than a girl that rides with gear on.
I agree with you 100% and we have both invested in quality riding gear. Just waiting on her riding pants to come in. Thats part of the reason why we took so long to buy a bike since we were getting gear as well :)
Great, and sensible choice! Even if she "outgrows" the R3 in 6-12 months, the confidence and skills she'd learn would make her a better and safer rider. Congrats Christina!
good choice for your girl bud! Its very important for a new rider to start in a lightweight bike, to start growing confidence and control. Hope she enjoys it! you cant go wrong with Yamaha.
At the end of the day is your money and your motorcycle, but for what you said, I think you really need to read more about break in a new engine it is actually big deal.
Hi Jaret, check the manual book, you can easily set the shitting indicator light to turn on at your desire RPM. This is useful to help the rider to maintain the break in period of your engine. JFYI.
what a great find on this video. I just picked up my first bike R3 and had to pause when you guys in PA too. Def a great buy and makes me semi jealous you got the matte black one. have fun!!!
Congrats on the purchase of the bike ! I commented about 3x over the course of your search to steer you towards an R3 (my Fiance has a 2015 R3 in Red). As far as mods to her R3 - I installed a Yoshimura Exhaust, Red Bar Ends, Oxford Heated Grips (we are from your neighboring State of Ohio so they come in handy), a Fender Eliminator, Mirror Extenders and a Yamaha replacement Pillon... it looks amazing & she loves it. I have a brand new FJR1300 and she can keep up pretty good with her little bike although I'm sporting about 150 horsepower :-). Good Luck with the bike... Although as a new rider I disagree with you on one point: I don't think she will want more power in 3 months.... she will need a good full season or two before you consider something else. For you the bike is like a moped - but for her - not so much. If I had to pick the best 2 looking mods: the fender eliminator (Vagabond) and the Yoshimura Exhaust !
Dude once it's broken you can take it in and have it tuned and unlock its full potential and as far as it front brake you can put a steel braided front brake line on it and it will improve the front brakes that rubber line kind of stretches when you're working the break but there is more power in it you just have to wait till it's broke in
It’s so wild to find your videos!! I’m from Lewisberry, PA and moved to Chicago three years ago and was looking at motorcycle videos and saw yours and was like OMG that’s Capital City and the shop beside BJs 😂😂😂 So crazy to find other people from my area on UA-cam! Great video!
I think the one headlight is for safety. Back in the 1990's, twin headlights were popular; however, when you see two headlights so close together, it resembles a car's headlights very far away. In other words, car drivers are likely to pull out in front of you, mistaking you for a car, very far in the distance. They remedied this problem by just having one light.
juan carlos lol I visited friends of mine that live in San Diego and they brought me to Tijuana one night , it was sketch as hell haha.. Went to this one block with all these bars where the girls poor the liquor down your throat and shake your head all around... Ahhh the good old days of being young.
U cant go wrong with this one, bought mine october 2017. I had so much fun with it and it is the best 300cc bike out there. The things you mentioned are mosty true like it has lower speed/acceleration (somehow logic) and the brakes, they arent really good. For the other ones, keep in mind its a 321cc 42 ps beginner bike and because of that it 't wont go as fast as a 600cc in B mode. I think you forgot a bit about that. Your gf will definitely have a good time on that gorgeous looking bike.
YAY! Congrats to Christina! I'm stoked for the two of you! I wish I could get my wife to ride. Looking forward to your learning to ride series. Should be fun. Remember too, when you two go riding, until she's confident make sure SHE leads so she doesn't feel the need to try and keep up and ride outside her comfort/ability level.
I had a brand new 2015 R3 and I regret buying it. I agree with what you said. I couldn't stand how light it was, I could lean the bike over with just the fingernail on my pinky. Too effortless. Felt like a light scooter instead of a motorcycle. Horrible front brake, bad tires, and meh power. Anything exciting you had to drive the piss out of it. Honestly you should of bought used, and in a few months give her your gixxer or buy her a brand new ss. I just got a new 2015 gsxs 750 and love it. These 300's brand new are just money pits
Yeah, Caleb. In my opinion, the 600 cc bikes are actually easier to ride than the R3. The modern 600 cc bikes have power modes, safety features, better stability, and higher quality parts. They are able to be grown into. When I had my R3, I grew out of it in 2 months. The only problem is that insurance is crazy high for a beginner with a 600 cc super sport.
BlackMaleASMR Bro it also comes down to weight though, she looks to be 95 pounds. She'll be much more confident leaning this light bike over than a 450 pound super sport imo.
The jackets are short so when you are in the riding position you don't have any bunching; atleast that is the case for the sport/race jackets. In the same way your sleeves are very long so when you're on the clip-ons you still have good wrist coverage.
"For my massive chest." Jesus christ you're so vain, man... But congrats on the new bike. Nice to see y'all did the smart thing by getting the R3. Even though some folks say you'll outgrow it in a few months - and that is very possible - it's still the right bike for her to start on. It'll be much more forgiving than a super sport and it will help facilitate good riding habits. Now you just need to get her out there riding/practicing consistently. Look forward to seeing the progress.
haha dude I was totally joking. And thanks man, I think we made the right choice too. Riding footage of her will be coming soon we were just waiting on riding gear for her :)
Moron quotes Campisi: "For my massive chest " Campisi responds: " ha ha dude I was totally joking. " irony - the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
New tires! FAST don't wear them out. OEM tires on these bike are crap, specially the rear. If you don't want to change both just do the rear but do it sooooon. Specially for an inexperienced rider like Cristina
Francisco Munoz I don't know what you're talking about. The pilot streets are perfect commuters but I still am able to rip it in twisties. The harder compound makes them last longer than softer stickier track tires. Idk if you own an r3 but the OEM tires are great for stock tires
Nice. My first bike was duke 390 and fell instantly in love with it. Obviously I upgraded to a 600cc benelli tnt cause the max speed was too less for me as well as the single cylinder. Though you could have gone for the 2017 duke 390. They upgraded the instrument cluster and the headlights mimic that of super duke and it got an aggressive profile overall.
I know this is a weird ass question but i style my hair up kind of like you at 0:05 and i was wondering how you deal with helmet hair for when you are actually going somewhere and not just going for a ride.
Smart move getting the 300. it's plenty for a beginner as well as her size. get some steel braided brake lines to get more bite. Should help quite a bit.
Been riding a CBR 250r for a few months and I thought I would jump up to a 600 eventually.. but small bikes are so fun, I can push the bike to the limit and have tons of fun while still being pretty safe.. now I'm sure I'll move on to an R3 instead.. CBR 0-60 in 9 seconds, R3 0-60 in 5.2 top speed 110 mph cant imagine needing anything faster than that.
All good things in due time. I think the R3 should be an excellent bike for Christina. I was going to take you to task over not letting her ride it home, but when you said that she hadn't been riding in a while, I totally understood why. I'm sure she'll do just fine. Just do me one favor, don't let her be like YammieNoob, okay?
congrats Tina .. i had that bike too... its inline 2 so dnt expect that sweet noise from it. But its good beginners bike .. hope u will have many happy miles ! cheers !!! : love RK
Congrats to Christina for a great bike. I am looking forward to seeing a dual vlog with you all. Have you all thought of getting heated gear, since the weather might change from day to day. I am getting some Gerbing heated gloves soon.
Thank you guys so much for all your input! It was a big help when deciding on a first bike for Christina! Now we need to decide what mods to do so let us know your favorite mods and companies for the R3!
Jaret Campisi penis
Jaret Campisi congratulations guys!!! Welcome to the R3 Club!!
Jaret Campisi the brakes are soft on these bikes unfortunately.
id give it a month lmao
Jaret Campisi dont forget you weigh alot more then her. The pick up and go will be more a little more responsive.
“Who’s cares it’s like only 5 grand” mate I pray one day I can say anything near that mate.
She is a special kind of perfection. Don't ever let that girl go. You will never get over that. Luv your guy's energy in your videos.

The bunching is super annoying especially if you have a hoodie on underneath. Conceptually I understood but aesthetically it still bothers me lol

its still better if you dont show it.. ppl know where you live and they may rob your house when you are not at home cause you told your fans
Fappi you his daddy?
You literally show your license plate to thousands of people every time to go ride. It's not a big deal.

Your gf will definitely have a good time on that gorgeous looking bike.
nice bike
Same here, man. I had an R3 as my first bike. I thought it was cool at first, but later I regretted buying it.
Thats what i try to tell people 300s just arent that great, especially if bought new
baznitchandsons gotta keep in mind she's a chick though.... She's gonna be pretty timid on that thing lol.
I KNEW IT!!! that bike is sooooo sick christina!!! congrats! nothing like a brand new bike! im 2 weeks in on mine🤙👍👏
5:03 okay calm down lol
Congratulations! My wife purchased the R3 when I got my fz07. Great starter bike. She beats the crap out of her bike now. Lol.
ktm 390 is sooo good for price and better than yamaha r3
neeya naana people don't know bout that ktm lifestyle
citizensauto Heard the rc390 is a mess
KTM is shit
bokippetje bro its best beginner bike
Yamaha is better, imo.
Are you insane?
It's called , "irony", you dummy.
Look it up.
mano fiske Ha. Apparently YOU need to look it up, as there was nothing I, nor he, said that was ironic. Nice try, though, "dummy".
Moron quotes Campisi: "For my massive chest "
Campisi responds: " ha ha dude I was totally joking. "
irony - the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
mano fiske Yea, no. That's not how it works. Good example of how people often misunderstand it. Again though, good try.
FINALLY BOUGHT A BIKE! Congrats Christina!!! Have fun!
great choice
thanks we are so excited!
Congrats guys...really nice bike! Finally, we are going to see you guys going around a lot..!
Great choice for a first bike you guys. Congrats Christina! Happy and safe ridding!
I wanna see Christina on bikini!
“It’s so quit” lmao coz it’s r3
shes going to love that bike. crazy good traction great handling. i have the 2016 modle and love it to death
I always appreciate the clickbait ;')
great choice for her first bike. love the matte black paint. happy riding !!!
he sells bike and doesant no about headlights on yamis !
I know this is a weird ass question but i style my hair up kind of like you at 0:05 and i was wondering how you deal with helmet hair for when you are actually going somewhere and not just going for a ride.
nothing you can really do about it honestly...one thing that annoys me about riding when I'm heading somewhere as well.
For her but she is not even driving it.I thing she just bought that bike because of taking pics
Smart move getting the 300. it's plenty for a beginner as well as her size. get some steel braided brake lines to get more bite. Should help quite a bit.
First view LOL
These two are a happy couple JC treats her very well like he should
first like lol 😊
Congrats on her getting her fist bike it look awesome. Have fun and ride safe.
Congrats! I love yalls enthusiasm! Its always fun getting a new bike!
Been riding a CBR 250r for a few months and I thought I would jump up to a 600 eventually.. but small bikes are so fun, I can push the bike to the limit and have tons of fun while still being pretty safe.. now I'm sure I'll move on to an R3 instead.. CBR 0-60 in 9 seconds, R3 0-60 in 5.2 top speed 110 mph cant imagine needing anything faster than that.
great choice. Christina will have a blast. Congrats
Congrats on the new bike. Forget the mods have her get good gear and ride it a year or two and practice her turns and stops. Good luck and ride safe.
I am getting some Gerbing heated gloves soon.
congratz on the bike. Love the color scheme on this one. Enjoy the riding n be safe.
